@MrARKWILD You have no idea what the conditions are in Finland, both Carlos II and Simo Häyhä were excellent marksmen, but Simo had better skills, not to fight in the jungle and did not use a sniper scopes and weather conditions were difficult.

I have actually cleaned Simo Häyhäs rifle. It was like and religious ceremony for me. My hand trembled in respect for this man and that I held and cleaned his rifle.
Russia and Finland really do have some badass snipers. I wonder who would have won if Vassili Zaitsev and Simo Hayha were put up against each other. Although Zaitsev didn't enlist until the 40s for the battle of Stalingrad. Two of the greatest snipers of history.

Häyhä killed over 500 russians with M27 7.62x53mmR caliber rifle from max.450m away in 100 days. Carlos killed only 93 vietcongs with Winchester M70 .30-06 caliber rifle and M2 BMG (.50 cal). You know there is a big difference between sniping people with .50cal and scopeless 7.62 rifle?

You shouldn't really compare a person who fought in the vietnam war to someone who fought in the winter war. The intensity of the fighting, and the pressure which the Finns had to withstand simply cannot be described in words. The vietnam war was mostly guerilla warfare, but the winter war was like something from a wet dream of a god of war.

@TheQneb its all about acclimatizing to your invironment. take iraq for example. there are troops from norway were in iraq. do you think they did just as well as the us marines that came from a hot environment that was similar to iraq? i'll bet they did, but just needed to get used to the heat. it would go the other way as well. i've been to norway when i was in the military around christmas and new years time(3 hours of sun light). it was cold but i could still do what i needed to do...

@BubbaLee2 If you even watched this video they said it's not easy shooting in freezin weather either, Simo didn't need a telescopic sights, he used iron sigth and still he got five times more sniper kills than Carlos did. No one ever has got that many kills with a sniper. @MihawkFIN Be careful about calling a Mosin-Nagant a piece of shit, design wise, it isn't much against the Mauser & Lee-Enfield - But it's extremely reliable, durable, virtually indestructible and has no problem operating in cold weather - It's a good rifle.

Which was desinged 1931 in finland. That russian pphs-41 is made 1941. That is just a copy of which has been made much later. Many people confuse these two together. People see all the same weapons ppsh-41 because it was more famous.

I know more about war in Vietnam than a typical American bloke. I have many books about war in Europe and in Pacific during WWII. I know what Marines went through in Peleliu and Tarawa. They were REALLY BRAVE too. Their sacrifice was not totally for an empty cause. War in Vietnam was just pointless.. Heroes of Vietnam war. Even most Americans have hard time with that thought.

Häyhä killed over 500 russians with M27 7.62x53mmR caliber rifle from max.450m away in 100 days. Carlos killed only 93 vietcongs with Winchester M70 .30-06 caliber rifle and M2 BMG (.50 cal). You know there is a big difference between sniping people with .50cal and scopeless 7.62 rifle?

You shouldn't really compare a person who fought in the vietnam war to someone who fought in the winter war. The intensity of the fighting, and the pressure which the Finns had to withstand simply cannot be described in words. The vietnam war was mostly guerilla warfare, but the winter war was like something from a wet dream of a god of war.

@TheQneb its all about acclimatizing to your invironment. take iraq for example. there are troops from norway were in iraq. do you think they did just as well as the us marines that came from a hot environment that was similar to iraq? i'll bet they did, but just needed to get used to the heat. it would go the other way as well. i've been to norway when i was in the military around christmas and new years time(3 hours of sun light). it was cold but i could still do what i needed to do...

@BubbaLee2 If you even watched this video they said it's not easy shooting in freezin weather either, Simo didn't need a telescopic sights, he used iron sigth and still he got five times more sniper kills than Carlos did. No one ever has got that many kills with a sniper. Not to also meantion the fact that Carlos only got attacked by groups of counter-snipers, Russians even tried artillery strikes to kill him and yet he survived. And also he did it with a piece of shit Mosin-Nagant.

Häyha did target officers whenever he coud, and he also proved to be a perfect marksman whit the standard soviet submachine gun, fighting along his fellow soldiers on the front lines. That said, he only operated in about onehundred days compared to snipers sutch as Vasily Zaytsev whitch have been romantized in films. Zaytsev wasnt even the best soviet sniper, but propoganda as a hero of Stalingrad

Which was desinged 1931 in finland. That russian pphs-41 is made 1941. That is just a copy of which has been made much later. Many people confuse these two together. People see all the same weapons ppsh-41 because it was more famous.

@BubbaLee2 Yeah right. He was still a coward. Less than 100 kills, and all kills with a scope. And he fought in a war where almost 60.000 Americans DIED FOR NOTHING. Are you proud about that? Maybe he ate too many hamburgers, and that was the reason he died so early.

@BubbaLee2 I will pay? Wow - I am scared shitless. You may have your own hero, but don't downplay our own, because history will still remember the man with most kills and skills with a plain iron sight. Simo had bravery far beyond a normal man, way more than Carlos. I like sniper business myself (I own a scoped rifle), but killing something with a scope is not always so brave thing. You should know what typical soldiers in Vietnam thought about Carlos and snipers in general?

I know more about war in Vietnam than a typical American bloke. I have many books about war in Europe and in Pacific during WWII. I know what Marines went through in Peleliu and Tarawa. They were REALLY BRAVE too. Their sacrifice was not totally for an empty cause. War in Vietnam was just pointless.. Heroes of Vietnam war. Even most Americans have hard time with that thought.

I think i know it is hard to accept. Carlos is your own hero because he was american.
Häyhä beats him almost everything: Lot of more kills/in less time/ much worse natural conditions.
he was wounded seriously. Exploding bullet destroyed half of his jaw and still he survived.
And häyhä even lived longer even he was lot of older than carlos.
Only thing Carlos have longest range (confirmed) kill.
So deal whit that....
