  • the old hueys had some version of the Lycoming T-53L engine. the yankee models don't have these engines. the H model, as well as A,B,C, D, M, and other models as well as the single engine snake had the lycoming engine as well. the civilian models were Bell 204s, and 205s.

  • genius, take two proven helicopter systems (cobra, huey) update them and have them use 80%of the same engine parts

  • there are three reason i want to be a Marine chopper pilot:

    1. i've always had an interest in aviation

    2. it seems like being in the Marines is a good life path

and 3. i just love that sound.

  • what other branches still fly the huey?

  • @Cj816 Army including Air National Guard. Firefighters use it to fight fires and the chopper is used for other things as well.

  • @MattKearneyFan16 incorrect. army and guard both retired the uh-1 over a year ago. the only few left in service that i am aware of are those with Flatiron at fort rucker which are actively being replaced by 72's. all the other hueys at fort rucker are for AF SUPT-H

  • @mjm9536 I realized that days ago. My mistake

  • @Stretedge me too. Too bad i'm only in high school now and gotta wait 6 more years. What about u

  • with the grace of god i plan on being an air crewman on one of these beasts. cant imagine anything better!! usmc all the way!

  • LOVE IT!

  • I'll be doing that one day if our country doesn't get screwed up by the government. Semper Fi!! Go Navy Beat Army!

  • Hittin' the brakes one time..Beautiful bird.

  • gotta love the huey

  • sad they couldnt keep the manly sound of the Ns, but this can be its sister lol

  • Ok guys, we all know that this version is probably the best Huey ever been built... but hey: a quad-bladed Huey?? This sucks!!!! The huey got this unmistakeable sound...

Ok it´s so cool that the UH ist still in usage but I think you know what I mean... it´s not the old Huey anymore... it´s like a Huey-shaped completely new helicopter.

  • @Lusth0g

you're an idiot. four blades are the future. the marine corps needs the yankees, novembers are inferior.

  • @iknowmyabc123

Hey dude, I know that four blades are way better, but, just for a nostalgic reason, I like the original sound of the double blade alot better.

Or would you like to listen to the "sound" of a ´67 Mustang with a straight six inside instead of a V8?

  • oh i can understand that i guess. you gotta love the yankee though.

  • @Lusth0g You said "it´s like a Huey-shaped completely new helicopter."

Well duh! It IS a completely new helicopter!

It has been completely redone. New engine, new avionics, the works.

Even the frame and body are different, same basic look, but bigger, with more room inside.

  • my uncle pilots a huey hes getting his upgraded but the four bladed huey nickname "yankee"

  • who is your uncle, im probably going thru training with him

  • this is the UH-1Y.......... Y is for Yankee.....

  • looks like 29 Palms. Gotta love the Stumps

  • @whitey7011

its actually China Lake. I took the vid

  • Ok, ive heard of that. Not sure wear it is though. Northern Cali? near Bridgeport?

  • @whitey7011 What unit were you with?

  • @wyo7011. Ive been with 171 and 374. deployed to OIF with 271

  • @whitey7011 Cool to see another EAF'er. I went to CAX a lot. I was with 373.

  • huey's woooooooo COME GET SOME! COME GET SOME!

  • i think the UH-1Y has parts from the AH-1W

  • Uhmmm... No... Rather AH-1Z

  • Yes they share the same parts.

  • they're 85% interchangeable. the uh-1y and ah-1z that is.

  • Oh yeas great to see the Venom :)

  • the new huey hey, pity the coudnt keep the cool "whoomp" sound it made, but glad to see it back, i never really took to the Blackhawk as much as the UH-1

  • Beautiful machine.

  • simular to the bell 412, except upgraded avionics, powerplants, drivetrain, and countermeasures. Far greater payload as well, this aircraft will que out before it maxes out on gross weight.

  • ya well they have a new program for the Huey's,to try to upgrade the Huey. but its my favorite helicopter of all time i want to join the Marines to fly it I also like the UH-1C

  • this is that program thats a UH-1Y the newest huey

  • It is the latest program, 10 UH-1Y Remanufactured from UH-1N's, the rest scratch built, it shares 84% commonality with the AH-1Z super cobra.

  • @racerx526 Whats que out?

  • @racerx526 the 412 12 is the huey. just the civi variant

  • whats the difference between this bird and the CH-146 Griffon in the Canadian Armed Forces, they both have 4 blades... the CH-146 is a military Bell 412EP, so what is this bird?

  • New and improve! High performance and lower noise as well.

  • Love that sound!!! thanx

  • can almost hear the "thump-thump" of the old Huey...alllllllmost...close but no cigar..

  • it is music to me

  • to me as well

  • also to me. i hear hueys flying by my house about every 2-3 weeks and i run out side just to get a look at 'em, there pretty cool.

  • were do you live... maby is should move there:)

  • fremont CA

  • Nice

  • this is the newly designed huey my friend

  • UH-1 still old design since early 60's.

  • Looks the same but upgraded internals and electronics and sensors as well.

  • That's bullshit that they landed that time. When I was onboard I had to drop a foot or two and then do the reverse to get back on...with all of my gear on no less...

  • you did a pinacle landing, thats why
