Another one - I've seen "rapture videos" where a elderly couple is having tea together and the wife vanishes, leaving the sad old unbelieving man alone. So, now the woman is happy with Jesus, even though she just left her husband of 50 years to suffer through the tribulation and burn eternally in hell???? WTF??
Exactly. Christians are selfish. They want to save their asses from the fire. They will believe whatever they are told if they think it will benefit them. Which is more noble, being a good person for no reason or being a good person because you'll get an eternal reward?
There are many stories in many religions & folklores that people are snatched up to heavens. I think in the past people were abducted by aliens. Bible writers got their idea from these myths & second-hand testimonies.

I watched "Left Behind" recently. I couldn't help thinking that God was the bad guy. The movie starts out with the state of the world being really bad. But just when people start working together to make things better, God steps in and says, "no you don't!" then takes all the Christians up to heaven. The resulting panic and chaos allows the antichrist to take over the world.

Yes Damian, we are all part of this universal star dust. I am often amazed by this connectedness in which we all have our place together.
Rational intelligibility is one of the main considerations that have led thinkers of all generations to conclude that the universe must itself be a product of intelligence.
Cute, but not a very well laid trap concidering that my post is still within view. Very good post about JW's
Their theology has so many twists & turns that they could rightly be described as a cult of religious anarchist.
They are another religious group spawned by the 1870's American, Charles Tas Russell.
"The older the bullshit, the more likely it is to be true"
Unless somebody claims that they have something which predates their idea, then the rule is ignored, because, well "screw that, we already believe this and we're keeping it that way"
"The older the bullshit"-yes, they seem to want to stay in the Bronze Age. Why are they so frightened of humanists, the modern age, science etc.
Why anyone would want to believe some writings of dubious origins, all from a superstitious, backwards age as opposed to all the rational, scientific knowledge we have acquired IN SPITE OF religion--has never made any sense to me.
What--update backwards to the superstititous beliefs of a desert culture?
Religion should be seen as the fables and mythology that it is. One would think mankind would have shaken off the belief in fairy tales long ago, but religion has become too much of a dangerous political tool used to control peoples thoughts and actions.
I always have a sweet day. And I don't waste any part of it praying to an imaginary Father Figure. Life is too precious to waste on made-up fantasies.
I suggest the video by Gllvideo here on YouTube regarding the Universe. Although his appeal to reason will just fly over most brainwashed peoples heads, he does a marvelous job of trying to explain the origins of the Universe to the non-scientific mind.
This mythical Jesus just followed the traditions of older half human, half god heroes who "rose from the dead" and were taken up to join the pantheon of other gods.
According to the bible, he sat at his own right hand. Now that would really take some doing!
This whole body resurrection thing has its roots in Ancient Egyptian religion, and possibly even earlier then that. You can always have your body mummified, or perhaps frozen, if you're that concerned about it.
Yea, christianity showed us just what a great job it has done and is doing in the morals department. Inquisition, witch-hunts, wars, genocide anyone?
Why can't you see morality without religion? According to some philosophers, it is programmed into our DNA in order to assure survival of our own kind.
As an atheist, I don't kill, rob etc. If I saw a person needing help, I would help him/her. Do you really need religion to tell you what is right and wrong? Think about it.
Yes, but what really binds you to morals? I agree that it is in human nature to try to "do the right thing" but as you probably know it is also human nature to do the contrary as well.
I apologize if I came on as a little abrasive, but I was only trying to say that Christians are obligated to have a strong moral life by a religion that has endured thousands of years and the Bible on top of that. Respond if I am wrong but it would appear as though Christain morals run a little deeper.
Say you had no religious beliefs. You are walking along and suddenly hear cries for help. There is a person drowning nearby. Would you not rush to help him/her? Of course you would! You would do so for no other reason then to save a life.
Doing "good" and being moral for the reasons christians do is ultimately selfish--to get to heaven. Read Thomas Paine's "The Rights of Man" instead of the bible. It is much more useful and contains a ton of more wisdom then even 1/4 of the bible.
"OK But I still wanted your answer, it seems like your tiptoeing around it."

Don't take it too personal, the name changes, I've been doing it for a long time on YT. I only do it to catch YTuber's attention. I have found that it works well.
"He had holes in his hands when he supposedly rose from the dead. He didn't go to heaven then."
The body he has now is not the body that died on the Cross. Yes there are nail imprints in his supernatural body, but not the same body as before the cross.
I hope this helps
have a nice day
otherwise he would have a body like in the movie "Night of the living dead"
Good video! A world without Christianity would be a nice world indeed... I hope god speeds up this process and gets all his suck-ups off this planet ASAP so we can finally make some progress
You misinterpreted my words a bit. Others on here have said the world would be better without Christians, I said it would be better without Christianity. Most Christians are good people at heart, and don't really think twice about their religion. It's the extremists who actually do follow the religion (and all others for that matter) who we'd be better off with. Without Christianity, there'd be a lot less wars and deaths in the history books.
"You misinterpreted my words a bit. Others on here have said the world would be better without Christians, I said it would be better without Christianity."
You are hiding behind your poor semantics, trying to disguise your real intent.
Despots, tyrants, and conquerors have aided Christianity much more than they have hurt it. Christianity was spread by the sword and never would've been a major religion without it. Do you know how it got to our continents, Australia and America? I won't regale you with the tale since I'm sure you know your history, but don't try to tell me history and the moral high ground is on Christianity's side as it is clearly not.
Personally the history books show your assumptions to be flat out incorrect.
Name-calling is the first step towards losing a debate, as I'm sure you're aware.
The Crusades, Inquisitions, 30 years war, Witch Hunts, Native American massacres, Aborigine conquests, the Holy Roman Empire, African colonization, Catholic vs Protestant wars, and many others. It's a simple fact my friend, the three major monotheistic religions have become so by force. I can look up 2 historians for you that can reaffirm these events if you truly insist, but it should be obvious to anyone.
Alfred Andrea- University of Vermont Michael Angold- University of Edinburgh Thomas Asbridge- University of London Michel Balard- University of Paris James Ryan- C.U.N.Y. Vincent Ryan- St. Louis University Sylvia Schein-University of Haifa Elizabeth Siberry-Independent Scholar R. C. Smail- Cambridge University Darius von Guttner Sporzynski- The University of Melbourne I can get you many more historians that can reaffirm these events if you'd like more.
named were Chrstian conflicts. When I said that every major monotheistic religion became so by force, I was just pointing out that Christianity isn't unique in having a violent history, so don't be so alarmed/surprised by it.
You can look up their statements yourself as they are much too long to post in the 500 character limit on youtube. I can get names of other historians affirming all the other various wars and conflicts that I named took place, though it is simply ridiculous of you to deny that these events took place.
I was not throwing mud by association, I was simply stating a fact while also explaining why you shouldn't be so alarmed as Christianity is not the only religion with a violent past.
Alfred Andrea- University of Vermont Michael Angold- University of Edinburgh Thomas Asbridge- University of London Michel Balard- University of Paris James Ryan- C.U.N.Y. Sylvia Schein-University of Haifa Elizabeth Siberry-Independent Scholar "Nice" But where are their statements to backup your statements. If you hope to pass at university in history you know you must do better than this. America is a notorious land of degree mills.
hey, that apache helicopter is fucking expensive. I don't want those asshole floating bodies to mess them up. float somewhere else you ****ing dispensationalists!
XD That last one one is particularly worrisome! What DOES happen when these faithful souls hit the upper atmosphere? Probably a little yellow oxygen mask unfolds out of (very) thin air before them, like they were flying with GodAirlinesExpress, or whatev.
Christians believe that during the "Rapture" (End of the world)the deserving people will rise into heaven leaving all of us non-worthy ones behind. This is a play on the idea that those people rising to heaven should worry about where they are when the rapture comes.
Please don't anyone become alarmed, this Planet is due to support life (on its surface) for at least 1000 more years. Don't you remember the part were it says that " They beat their Spears into Pruning Hooks". I think there's a whole lot more than you've even imagined coming soon, just make sure your seat belts are fastened!
there are real rapture/end-times worries: that some beeleaver is going to perform some devastating act to promote the return/rise-to-power of the anti-X so that he & all his tired buddies can go rest on a cloud.
You forgot about what happens back on earth after the rapture: abandoned pickup trucks crashing into abandoned el caminos...left behind dogs under porches starving to death... Jerry Springer Shows with no guests...Walmart goes belly-up ...homeless people living in empty churches and eating all the crackers ... domestic beer stocks plummet... all those trees that grow because nobody's printing bibles anymore ...
I almost wish the rapture would/ could happen. Then we could get rid of all those pesky christ blood drinkers and then we could bring the world a little closer to sanity.
Wanna see something fucking hilarious??? Do a YouTube search for "Rapture Pet Care Co"... sooo pathetic...

steveascension 3 years ago
He was beaten and had holes in his hand, meaning he was abused. As you said, abused bodies don't go to heaven therefore jesus didn't go to heaven.

You still don't get it!

Good video! A world without Christianity would be a nice world indeed...
you may get your wish one day, bud
I sure as (hell) don't want to be around when that happens.
Because hell will be a place literally on earth. without the Christians.
steveascension 3 years ago
You misinterpreted my words a bit. Others on here have said the world would be better without Christians, I said it would be better without Christianity. Most Christians are good people at heart, and don't really think twice about their religion. It's the extremists who actually do follow the religion (and all others for that matter) who we'd be better off with. Without Christianity, there'd be a lot less wars and deaths in the history books.

You are hiding behind your poor semantics, trying to disguise your real intent.
Your a Hollow man
steveascension 3 years ago
What real intent am I trying to disguise? Let's put this in a context you can understand.
When people spoke of ridding the world of Communism during the Cold War, they meant the ideology... not actual communists themselves.
When I speak of getting rid of Christianity, I speak of the ideology, not Christians themselves. Do you understand now?

"When I speak of getting rid of Christianity, I speak of the ideology, not Christians themselves. Do you understand now?"
Despots, tyrants, & Conquerors have been trying for over 2000 years to rid the world of Christianity.
Personally I think your assumptions have as much credence & potential for success if China sent a manned space craft to the sun.
steveascension 3 years ago
Despots, tyrants, and conquerors have aided Christianity much more than they have hurt it. Christianity was spread by the sword and never would've been a major religion without it. Do you know how it got to our continents, Australia and America? I won't regale you with the tale since I'm sure you know your history, but don't try to tell me history and the moral high ground is on Christianity's side as it is clearly not.
Personally the history books show your assumptions to be flat out incorrect.

"Personally the history books show your assumptions to be flat out incorrect."
Are you getting your history from mickey mouse comics? Please stop reading them, they will distort your reality of life.
"Christianity was spread by the sword and never would've been a major religion without it."
That was one of the most ill informed statements I have seen by a atheist on YT.
Name for us, one or two recognized & respected historians who regurgitates your superfluous statement?
steveascension 3 years ago
Name-calling is the first step towards losing a debate, as I'm sure you're aware.
The Crusades, Inquisitions, 30 years war, Witch Hunts, Native American massacres, Aborigine conquests, the Holy Roman Empire, African colonization, Catholic vs Protestant wars, and many others. It's a simple fact my friend, the three major monotheistic religions have become so by force. I can look up 2 historians for you that can reaffirm these events if you truly insist, but it should be obvious to anyone.

"Please do" by all means;
It was a request by me so everyone can validate or invalidate your personal assumptions.
Oh by the way please answer the request honestly.
We were talking about Christianity, only.
Don't be a sneak.
Please recheck your post.

Conqueror1234 3 years ago
I rechecked my post, all armed conflicts
named were Chrstian conflicts. When I said that every major monotheistic religion became so by force, I was just pointing out that Christianity isn't unique in having a violent history, so don't be so alarmed/surprised by it.

Just stick to the Christian side bud.
You were just trying to throw mud by association. Not very good start for a potential non biased history teacher. I hope you don't write any history.
Then again history is usually written by the victors.
Can we really trust the facts of history?
steveascension 3 years ago
You can look up their statements yourself as they are much too long to post in the 500 character limit on youtube. I can get names of other historians affirming all the other various wars and conflicts that I named took place, though it is simply ridiculous of you to deny that these events took place.
I was not throwing mud by association, I was simply stating a fact while also explaining why you shouldn't be so alarmed as Christianity is not the only religion with a violent past.

AtheistCitizen 3 years ago
You forgot about what happens back on earth after the rapture: abandoned pickup trucks crashing into abandoned el caminos...left behind dogs under porches starving to death... Jerry Springer Shows with no guests...Walmart goes belly-up ...homeless people living in empty churches and eating all the crackers ... domestic beer stocks plummet... all those trees that grow because nobody's printing bibles anymore ...

This video shows what problems they might encounter while ascending.
