  • what song is Barbara playing? wonder if there's a full length version somewhere

  • @jjhotlips Barbara is playing a medley of songs (just guessing by the sound of the performance she's giving), but if you'll listen close to the third quick little ditty....that has to be "WON'T YOU COME HOME BILL BAILEY". Yeah? Oh yeah! It's neat huh?

  • @jjhotlips Hi! If still interested, i've found the full length version. Search: Barbra Mandrell - Steel Guitar Rag , (PeterRabbit59 channel) Bye bye!

  • @NOMADdaf yes that is Johnnys brother Tommy

  • f me

  • boo to johnny and tommy. hooray for anita and june. who is jan??? go barbie!

  • @longfoot

Jan is Jan Howard. She had filled in on the road when June was pregnant with John Jr. (It's actually Jan's voice and not June's you hear on "Daddy Sang Bass.")

  • schön, das alle in der family mitsingen und spielen, ist ja eine grandios bilderbuch-geschichte !

  • When was a Family ever so Strong.

    Two Brothers, and their inlaws..

  • What Memories, than you for posting.

    Herman Stancill

  • Mandrell's really good on that guitar.

  • .. . . .. . .

  • kurt cobain does an amazing version of this song too

  • I love the Carters, but hell yes, Cobain kills that song!

  • Nice video. I don't know much about Barbara Mandrell and I especially didn't know that she was such a talented steel guitar player. That was awesome but I wish it hadn't been cut off.

  • Barbara Mandrell was a amazing entertainer singer dancer she played a lot of instruments check her videos. she was the 3rd woman to win entertainer of the year award after Loretta Lynn and Dolly Parton

  • Great video and I'm happy to have found it during the Christmas season.

  • Let Us Bow are Heads & Pray.

  • Holy crap, Tommy has the same hair and build as John!

  • I had no idea Barbara Mandrell played, this is a treat, thanks so much

  • Up front is Helen (the blonde), Anita in the middle, and June on the right. In the back is Jan Howard. As far as I know Jan is no relation to the Carters.

  • Jan Howard was Janette Carter the youngest daughter of Mother Maybelle and A.P. Carter. She died in Jan of 2006, she was the last surviving member of the Carter Family.

  • Correction: Not the youngest of Mother Maybelle and A.P. but the youngest of Mother Maybelle and Ezra Carter. A.P. Carter was her brother in law

  • Janette Carter is the youngest daughter of A.P. Carter and Sara Carter. Maybelle is Sara's cousin, Janette's Aunt. Maybelle married Ezra Carter, Alvin P. Carters brother, they had Helen, Victoria June, and Anita. So there is the family history of the Carter Family

  • Valerie (June)

  • You're right about the relation but that's not Janette in this video. That's Jan Howard, a country singer who sometime sang with the Carter sisters. Jan Howard is still alive.

  • GREAT!!!. MISS YOU JOHN.

  • can someone name the sisters in order of whose singing like first verse is so and so

  • what a great video...barbra mandrell is fabulous;she plays that instrument so well....

  • just one thing... THANX!!!!

  • I remember In The Pines from a scene in "I Know What You Did Last Summer" where Sarah Michelle Gellar and Jen Love Hewitt go to the house of the sister of the boy they thought they killed. The song, not sure who sung it, is playing and it sounds like an old 45 or something, but had a creepy feel to it along with the scene.

  • who is the fourth singer 2nd left back row

  • Its Jan Howard who regularly sang with the sisters, but never seemed to get a credit.

  • why the hell isn't june carter and her sisters in the country music hall of fame? especially june, my gawd,,,just look at the music she wrote and her contributions to country music? it's a crime, it will happen one day, but waaay waaay too late!

  • You're exactly right! I agree one hundred percent. If anyone deserves it, it's her.

  • well u think thats bad hank williams ain't in the grand ole opry because he was a drunk and they kicked him out and they can't reinstate him because he's dead

  • well u think thats bad hank williams ain't in the grand ole opry because he was a drunk and they kicked him out and they can't reinstate him because he's dead

  • John was kicked out too for smashing the lights with his guitar. I'm still rooting for June though. lolz.

**But that does suck about Hank**

  • the did this song years ago on the radio shows and was on there albumn "Country First Family"

  • their music is timeless.

  • the carter family associated with nirvana, funny

  • associated by your thoughts alone. Actually Nirvanas Version of Leadbelly's, In the Pines is about a cheating wife and her husband killing the other man, where this song is a sweet one about a long train in the pines. Sorry no offence just thought I could clear that up for you.

  • I just meant the music, not the lyric`s content.
