  • went to see here in blackpool in the ken dodd show,a very big but very active lovely lady, god bless her.

  • Back to watch again. This lady was fantastic. Wish she was here entertaining us now. Simon Cowell not required!!!!!!!!!!

  • SalPedi , she wasnt from the USA - she was from Wales

  • God forbid,,but in the event of another all out war situation, where would we find morale boosting artists like Tessie and George Formby to keep our spirits up. They just don't exist any more. Those people were there when we needed them though, out there entertaining the troops then doing the rounds of theatre and factory lunch time concerts back home. Real troupers, all of them.

  • I bet the poor thing snored horribly?

  • From the USA.......Loved her!...the world needs more Tessie!......

  • Surely not just for crinklies - unless I've not noticed that I've become one. Oh damn, I have.

    Lovely post!

  • that was bloody good ! but george formby is still the man for me ;)

  • Keep coming back to watch this, absolute entertainment at the highest!!!!! Great lady, thnx for posting.Magic

  • WOW!

  • Does anyone recall her singing 'Making Wiki-Waki Down in Waikiki'? Cracking version last seen by me on a 78.

  • That was TRIPPY. I forgot about Tess. She's awesome. My old dad developed hardening of the arteries whenever she was on the telly. Great posting.

  • For crinklies only? ... I think not, this is amazing.

  • @alexinanutshell yes I agree

  • great i remmber as a child watching ,great performer

  • Fantastic. Thanks for sharing.

  • Great lady and fantastic entertainer.

  • That was actually quite Erotic...in a strange way

  • is it true that she was the landlady of the Bloomfield Pub in Blackpool?? x

  • Shes good, but I think mr formby is still a win for me :D

  • Teesie was as good as formby if not better.

  • gf1001 I really agree with you, but experts reckon that Formby was a more technical player? Hmmm?

  • Still prefer George Formby

  • I love this! Thank you for uploading. My grandfather nicknamed me after this song/lady & I dont mind saying it's stuck though my whole life! lol =]

  • BANJO EPIC WIN.

  • I love this! Shes so good

  • I just heard this song from NPR today!

    Such personality and lyric :D

  • Can you imagine if the X Factor and TV shows in 2008 - had contestants like this woman - talent like this is something would should preserve for future generations - I have always loved Tessie.

Talent like this is not on our TV anymore.

  • Ah they would probably say the look was not right, or something. You have to either be a bellowing wildebeast or a soppy drip to get anywhere now.

  • Superb!

  • Lovely to see Tessie again. A wonderful performer

  • It is thrilling. I worked with Tess on B'way in 1976 in "Something's Afoot". What a thrill. A total pro. I loved her. Gary Beach

  • Many thanks for sharing! Tessie O'Shea must have been a wonderful Miss Tweed. Didn't she got strangled near the end of the show? I don't know many shows in which the audience can laugh about something like that. It's a lovely musical.

  • Anyone got any more of Tessie?...she is a legend!

  • Is that utterly fabulous or what! Great clip of a unique legend, thank you for posting it.

  • That was more sheer entertainment in 1:24 than we get these days in 24 hours on TV with 100 channels. Bravo. And thank you for posting!

  • Brilliant !!! More and more please! What do you mean "crinklies"... hahaha, we're the stuff the world is made of! Cheers, G*

  • I worked with Tessie at Halifax Palace Theatre in the fifties and she was a great entertainer and a wonderful person. Wish we could see more of her on TV these days.

  • wonderfull.Memories flooding back strumming along with an old brown bag from the kitchenette.MORE,MORE,MORE.XXXXXXX

  • Great stuff and such an interesting way of playing the banjo ukulele.

  • I have an old LP of hers, but have never seen her. So, like George Formby, she was a banjo uke player! Cool!

  • That was fab!! I used to live in Tessie O'sheas house. For years people used to say "oh you live in Tessie O'Shea's old house" I didn't really know who she was tho I had heard of her. Put her name into web search & realised that she was actually quite an accomplished hollywood actress & broadway star. Great to see her performing tho!! Now I just have to imagine her doing that in my living room!!! Go for it Tess!!

  • More please! Tessie was the greatest! Yes I remember her from ther good old days too - crazy that the BBC has ignored this legendary show, no repeats, no videos, no DVD's, nothing! This is the only Tessie O Shea video I could find anywhere!

  • Tessie used to guest star on 'The Good Old Days' from Leeds Variety Theatre. Now there is a show that I would love to see on YouTube!!!

  • Sensational! MORE PLEASE! :D

  • They don't make 'em like that anymore.

  • That is absolutely amazing.

Please post some more, i love this lady.

  • cool! Thanks for uploading this.
