I think people shouldn't critisize Rob Marshall for casting Chinise actresses Michelle Yeoh, Gong Li and Ziyi Zhang a.k.a Zhang Ziyi to play Japanese characters. All three were amazing in that movie.
Although I'm a stickler for accuracy, I hope the maiko training or geisha 'boot camp' gave the chinese women an insight into the similarities and differences of chinese and japanese culture
There are many historical inaccuracies in this book that many do not notice. The author was actually sued by the geisha he interviewed for twisting her words.
