I come across MANY French young people of non-white origin, they are well educated, born in France, have high aspirations but are still classed as 'immigrants' and are OVERTLY discriminated against. Unlike many English youth in inner cities, they actually WANT to work but even having a non-French surname denies them that opportunity immediately.Sad.

@HCnyling - I dont think North Africans i.e Algerians for example are too 'distinct' from the French, the French loved it in Algeria and the Algerian culture has absorbed a lot of French things (blood included). As we are talking specigically about France here, there was an economic need for migrant workers in the French steel and iron mines, in metalworks and other industry, thats why North Africans went there - to work.
