no this isnt shit compared to the F1/go cart rookie challenge redbull does, i signed up for it but im past the age now.....and i used to be like #5 in my state in top end go carts and still didnt get pickd
these kids were already racing on "crappy" superbikes which are still extremely exspensive. they werent picked random from kids who had no expirience
No. They're pretty spoiled. How do you get to race when you are 12? A twelve year old can't get a job. Only one way - their mommy and daddy buy them a motorcycle for them to train on, get them lessons, drive them to where they need to go. Sorry...this isnt an event for poor people.
I know a few of the mehanics. This is awesome, every bike has to make a specific weight, which evens out the light riders vs the heavier ones. It is all gonna be skill
Thats pretty dang awesome for those kids they probably will never will have an experience like that again. There's just one thing when that one kid says "there was everything for us factory bikes and our mechanics" that last part torqued me way of. They need to leed the kids to the racing aspect of you race what YOU build not race and destroy what some under credited guy worked on for hours on hours.
Every kid on the team has past racing experience, most of them have amateur national championships already, but my brother had never even raced on pavement until just the weekend before he tried out. Riding ability cannot alone get you on this team. All 23 of these kids wanted it more than anyone else at the test and showed their dedication, that's why they deserve to be where they are... no drivers license required; none of the applicants could be 16 and try out.
600 kids applied required to be between the ages of 12-15, and 100 of them were invited to ride at Barber Motorsports Park in the fall which narrowed the field down to a 23 rider team. Most of the kids have only road racing experience but 1 of them is a motocrosser and 4 of them are dirt trackers. My younger brother is on the team, this is the first year this program has been held in the US, and the second year they have it held in Spain.
u have to go to racing school at tracks in your area and get a WERA novice race license and work your way up and points and finally once u have enough points to get you AMA novice license and u can try out at Laguna Seca Raceway and hopefully make the Red Bulls Rookie Cup.
no problem, we were at barbers and me and my dad were talking with coach because i had my track bike there at our friends paddock and he stop and said who rides this bike and i said i do, and was going to give me bike and a the whole 9 yards but i declined i said next year.
yes that really sucks dude, but your can still go to race schools and get a WERA license and start racing. yeah some of those kids are really spoiled, was a Barbers, talked to some of them got to know them and i was like some are really nice while others can get pushy well they lose, but mostly they are nice, yeah i have to get a new WERA license lost all my credit didn't race that much.
alrite im thinking of starting to ride at road atlanta or roebling road , barber is probally closer to me than the other two in the same state. i have three track options, im looking at zx14, but for track use ethier a zx6r or an sv 650s or an r6. i like that little twin though, i kno she isnt the fastest thing around but great learnin tool.i mean hell for the price of the zx14 i can buy one sv for the track and one for the street, also wat r ur veiws on the zx10r(2004-2007
i would probaly start on a zx6r or a r6 never really road a sv 650, but any bike would be, good. well nothing to big, lol i rode my dads 1098 and i thought i was going crap myself, because of the power strokes, only duing 30 in a parking lot. some people think is a v-twin, but i think it is a l-twin, i ride a ninja but i'm looking a getting aprilia rs250, keeps up with 600's that for sure.
yea aprilia has there shit together thats for sure one of those rs 125s and ktm 125 are as fast an sv allmost on the topend, sv will only do like 130-135, them two strokes will do 125 or something. the two strokes also cost more
they do cost a lot more, because being rare and etc. i saw one for sale in NC and the guy wanted $5,600 out the door, but sometimes it might be worth it if there was only 1 left but i would prefer paying 2,000
yea i hear ya, i think im stick to a 600 if a go to buy new, the dealer always throws on more price than msrp, so if i hope i can get a zx-r for bout 10k otd or a daytona 675 for 10k, i bet the 14 is about 12.5-13k otd
our kawasaki dealer sells 250r,6r, etc. and i was look at in 08 6r he gives great prices due to the price of gas, the otd was 6k and. yeah a daytona 675 being a triple sounds nice, i was also looking at a Triumph daytona 675 because of being a great bike and all but i love the sound, twins r nice but a triple sounds futuristic, lol saw 2 guys at a track day, 1 had a Busa and the other 14r, both screamed down the straights but cornered like shit, and then a 6r would pass, but the problem cont.
nice dude my dad said he will not sponsor me, but my neighbor said i will sponser u when i get the time, he works at a army ranger camp firestation, he is trying to get good with his new boss so he go to Barbers August the 8 this year to the ed bargy racing school, u should go, oh yeah all the info on my account is Tim Joyce's i forgot to put his name so everybody thinks i'm a racer, i called ed and he ask how good i was and i replied i have no chicken strips but of corse i was in a parking lot.
actually what u do is go a race school and u get a WERA novice race license and u work your way up the can and then u get a AMA license and u can try out for Rookies Cup.
im 14....is it too late for me to start superbike racing? thanks
