I recently downloaded the demo version of the game for my mac. The glitch that happens with me is in the tutorial where I have to open the city screen window. Firstly, the opening isn't counted for the tutorial quests and secondly, the food n hammer tiles don't show when I open the screen. I lowered all the settings and turned off anti-aliasing, but the problem still persists. I use a mac OS X Lion btw .
The reason this game sucks on the mac is because it's running Windows code. yes you heard me right. This is a Cider port (you may be familiar with Transgaming's version of WINE, which enables people to run some Windows games on Linux/BSD). Aspyr didn't create a true Mac version of this game, it's basically running native Windows code on a Mac.
@damagexyz Civ 4 on Mac doesn’t user Cider. Check it for yourself by going into the app bundle; there’s no transgaming directory nor any Windows executables in there.
If I recall correctly I had the exact same problem just as you did on windows xp. Not sure how I fixed it but later on that problem seemed to disappear, perhaps the expansion patched it or the updated video card drivers. So all u noobies blaming the good old Mac, don't be such morons, it's the game code!
macs arent stupid they are actually a great computer and have fun things to do on the. pcs are more like computers for work, they tend to be a bit more complicated.
Have you tried turning off the anti-aliasing? Also, try lowering the video settings. Until Aspyr can update the game to run with the new video cards, this has made it work for me.

Anyone still surprised why it sucks?

I sometimes see spies and workers running across the screen as if they are on LSD
