  • Stupid starhub network. I have this smartphone too but the internet connection is dam weak

  • will u plz tell me which movie maker did u use in the making of this video?....the picture quality is outstanding

  • @4531236 sony vegas

  • @TTGAppyHappyLad Final Cut on Mac

  • You sound like a Yorkshire lad ;)

  • what happens when you turn it on its side does the web page follow suit.

  • I'm so torn! Sensation or SGS2?

Leaning towards SGS2 right now... Screen, slim and better design (Although subjective)

  • @bitbloop SGS2 is the best choice believe me, but either way they're both fast

  • @sunny1694sunny You can't go wrong with either device. They are both fast devices. One is more simple and less polished (TouchWiz 4) and the other is visually appealing with a much more polished user interface (which HTC is famous for). Also if you prefer a nice metal unibody and a better phone in the hand the Sensation is for you. The GSII is a bit faster in some things but it is expected as it demands less work from the hardware. Win Win situation!

  • It is all objective here. The Desire S that I have tested works smoother than this dual-core. Now it does not mean I am claiming the Sensation is inferior, it's just there are a lot of variables.

For argument sake, fanboys will be fanboys. These two devices are screamers. It's just how and where they use their speeds. GS2 is by no means the most polished device. The raw-edge GS2 is less demanding on the software front while the polished Sense UI is a battery hog and definitely more attractive.

  • there is an option that you can disable to load mobile verison of the sites.

  • please try those LAGGY ASS sites: ohtuleht.ee, lg-p500.ru!

  • Does it really matter that it doesn't zoom in that well on YouTube? Is it possible to turn te device, so that YouTube is fullscreen?

  • Thanks, Sam. Exactly what I was looking for.

  • your accent is awesome... idk if its annoying or good to hear but its AWESOME! :)

  • @kathen111 lol thanks i think ;)

  • I love this phone but Im going to wait for the GS2 to really compare the 2

  • The bounce back (or rubber band) feature would be a nice addition, I agree.

  • Who watches a video and at the same time pinches to zoom (a thousand times)? When I watch a video on my HTC I turn the phone landscape and it automatically enlarges to full screen, which is how I want to view video every time.

I appreciate these videos but you really have to let some things go. And I can't believe someone in your position didn't know how to turn mobile sites off. Thanks for your efforts though!

  • @wayloc4 lol it might have slipped his mind. you can turn mobile off with phones that have sense. but still a great video.

  • I think HTC has the best browser when it comes to android! though the camera is terrible :(

  • @noobwalker93 I thought the camera was good? 8mp?

  • Umm anybody or even sam, even with all these SG2 lovers and stuff, htc sensation is still worth getting right? idk i keep changing my decisions haha.

  • @xXChineseBoiXx yes its still one very good phone :)

  • @samjpullen thank u! your opinion makes this alot easier for me haha!

  • @xXChineseBoiXx Yeah. The SGS2 is a bit better, but it also costs 700-1000 dollars if you live in America.

  • go browser meny and turn of mobile page

  • I prefer the htc sensation because they are more leaders on creating original products unlike samsung they seem to be copying the iphones hardware ....... Im just saying

  • Instaboner...

  • One of the reasons the browser is a little slower is because of the reformatting of text on zoom. Also, I don't see pc's or iphones resizing flash lol and i think that's only with engadget, I have no problems with other sites

  • @StickmanStig HTC Sensation > Samsung Galaxy SII

  • Now I really know that I am getting the GSII

  • I love the bounce effect very much too!!!

  • @altu892 Its the little things that keep me happy :)

  • @samjpullen make "us" happy, and i really hope android will add that too

  • what mobile network are you on? and also what wireless modem do you have? i dont currently have on, but im looking for a good one, and your a techy person, thanks.

  • The whole zoom thing about videos is obviously for performance reasons as it would be a lot more heavier and hence a lot less smooth to deal with the zoom of flash content etc. in real time as you are zooming in and out with your fingers.

  • you go and study your android subject matey! hahaha

  • I don't need this phone to go to those geeksites.. I want it for badass fast facebook experiences open links and videos on it etc. maybe a game or 2 and the rest is sms and phonecalls.. so HTC for me please. I don't care the slightly better SGSII god I just hate that phone so bad :D

  • It just looks like the flash element is residing on axis above the text element of the html page. My PC browser does the same thing trying to render flash on html pages when I do CTRL + or CTRL - to resize.

  • thumbs up for yogscast on your youtube!

  • Sam, tried the mobile to desktop view change on the techbuffalo site and found out what the issue is. after trying various setting changes, it clicked....(my puney brain)...it uses the information stored in the cache (the browser, not my puney brain!), so will keep reverting back to the mobile view regardless. So, clear the cache (no need to un-tick the mobile view or other settings), then try again! It worked on my Incredible S, should work the same on the Sensation.

  • you never tested it in landscape mode

  • ok so it scrolls!!!!!!!!!! We get it!

  • @deadbeat78 yay right? LOL

  • dude try making a web comparison with the SGS2

  • SGSII has great performance and a still more vibrant screen compared. However, hardware quality is disappointing for a supposedly high end phone which is plastic. I've played around with this phone and it has all round quality in hardware and software optimisations can always improve though hardware cannot.

  • i dont have a problem with the video staying still when pinching to zoom.. find your spot where u wanna zoom in and stay there or just make it full screen......

  • Hmmm I have to say this has put me off a little, since I am waiting for the Sensation, however, the bugs also don't worry me. I never pinch to zoom on a video, I long press and view full screen, hell I'm watching a video on a small mobile screen I don't want to the have it smaller still. Also It might be more apparent @ real frames per second, but the scrolling looks the same almost everytime you do it whilst watching this video. Just me?

The SGSII is pretty tempting though. Especially now.

  • Samsung Browser is a lot smoother than the HTC Sensation....at least that's the feeling I get from watching this review

  • video with in a video... :O!

  • samsung galaxy s 2 kick htc sensation ass thumbs up if you agree

  • People, people. The Sensation is a great device. The Galaxy S2 is a great device. Why must we pit them against each other? Regardless of which you get, we can all agree on one thing... it makes Apple's showings (the Iphone "5" won't be a significant boost) look like crap in comparison.

  • @badasscheater

Because people want to know which one to buy, because they are both THE high-end phones at the moment. And who cares about Apple, iOS is not Android, so no point really in comparing.

The browser performance is really dissapointing.

  • @DjiEnn

Samsung's phone is faster and has the vastly superior specs. But that doesn't make it the de facto phone to buy. Software is just as important, so you'll need to consider that as well. I personally prefer Sensation because if I had to choose between Sense and TW, I'd go w/Sense. The browser auto crops the data on the phone, video included, so that's a reason why it looks so bad. You can always just get a third party browser. But, yeah GS2 is just plain faster. Can't argue with that.

  • @badasscheater

Browser of sgs2 is hardware accelerated, meaning it uses the GPU to render the pages. Generally other android phones don't have this. That is why an old iPhone 3gs is so smooth with stuff like scrolling and zooming because it is also hardware accelerated (but loads pages slow because the CPU is slow).

And no third party browser from the market has hardware acceleration (only for honeycomb on tablets).

  • @DjiEnn

Yeah, I know about hardware acceleration. It's definitely a plus. I'm just wondering why Apple has been doing it for so long but Android hasn't. And what I meant about the browser is that the stock browser tends to do that auto crop thing, but if you get another one, it would just keep the material the same on the page, making it better.

  • @badasscheater

Apple releases 1 iphone a year, this makes it easy to make sure the hardware and the software take full advantage of eachother (this results in good implementation i.e. hardware acceleration).

Google can't do this with android, because each manufacture have many phones with different hardware. So each manufacture has to program the hardware acceleration themselves. Samsung took the time to do this for the SGS2 browser.

That is why iphones/macs with lower specs are smoother.

  • @DjiEnn

Gotcha. Thanks. Still, it's a damn shame, really. HTC should have put it in for the Sensation. Tsk.

  • @DjiEnn Oh, and another huge plus for the GS2 is that it's bootloader unlocked. That means you can download and use custom ROMs (after rooting). For a die-hard Android fan, that is a GIANT plus. Cyanogen mod.. awesome.

  • HTC Sense > Touchwiz.

  • @NicaelJosti while that is very true, i think id still rather have the SGS2, just make it run with adw or lp

  • WE WANT SENSATION AND SGS2 BROWSER SPEED COMPARISON!!!

  • When you hit off..just manually refresh the page

  • @samjpullen k i know what to do, hit the menu key, select settings, language and keyboard, then you will see options but towards the bottom there is 'touch input', then tap 'trace keyboard', then check the box next to trace prediction.

there may be 'swype' above touch input too, which could work, try that? idk, thats what i could find :P

  • I'm very happy with my Galaxy S2;-)

  • @samjpullen i dont have the phone, (stupid usa release date lol) but from what i understand, it isnt under 'input method' from the text message or web typing screen. what i read and heard is that its 'buried deep' in menus so its not simple, from what i read is you have to dig, maybe go into settings menu and go into text input settings/ input settings/ or something along those terms. then again, it could be an update to come later?

  • different browse r>>>>>>>>>>> if its not fixed this phone is lame

  • man that browsing is lame this is why sammy took their time with the s2

  • THERE IS NO PROBLEMS IN ZOOMING !!

its modifying the text below the flash video for screen

IT IS AN ADVANTAGE FOR HTC Sensation

  • @anas2321190 You are right. The "strange" behavior of the pinch to zoom in the browser is due to the text reflow!!! It is repositioning everything that's in the page accordingly to the zoom!!! Galaxy SII doesn't adjust the text to the zoom level as far as I know. That's a matter of taste... ;)

  • Can this phone run 1080p videos in browser just like the Samsung Galaxy S2?

By "run" I mean very very smoothly just like the galaxy s2

  • The SGS2 is the BEST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Would like to see a dogfight between galaxy s2 and HTC sensation.

  • Great video, mate. Can't wait for the SGS2 v Sensation showdown!

  • after all you videos are done for the sensation you should do a galaxy s2 vs sensation videos :)

  • Browser implementation certainly doesn't seem as good as Samsung's on the SGS2. Thanks for the vid though

  • @StickmanStig It does the flash thingy because the flash is running in an overlay because it is hardware accelerated. I would take hardware acceleration of flash with not so good any day over flash on CPU with good scrolling in GSII.

  • Could you show us the browser handling a 1080p clip. I know the SGII can handle it just fine, how bout the sensation? Also I am assuming you have the new 10.3 flash loaded.

  • Could you show us the browser handling a 1080p clip. I know the SGII can handle it just fine, how bout the sensation?

  • @samjpullen can u do a review comparing swype to htc trace>

  • can u do a review on how htc trace compares to swype? thanks

  • I too had a hard time choosing between the Sensation and SGS2. Both are really fast devices. If you mainly care about performance, the SGS2 is the way to go. I, for one, equaly care about the user experience. Therefore I'm a huge fan of HTC Sense and it's new lockscreen.

I also like the qHD resolution (making text sharper - even readable when fully zoomed out while browsing) and the more premium look and feel of the device.

In the end it all comes down to personal preference though.

  • @dre9002 Same here. I like the design of the sensation. sg2 design doesnt interest me at all.

  • Comment removed

  • how does the sensation handle porn sites?

  • For me it's obvious the SGS2 got the better web Broser with flash included! The Sensation means pretty cool but the Samsung is a MONSTER! ;)

  • Galaxy S2 still gets my vote! but thanks for these videos too. Great as always :)

  • Ok just wanted to make sure you knew ;) Haha

  • @samjpullen go to internet settings and untick the box that says mobile view!!!!!

  • @94Murphdog I know this, but i like to default to the mobile sites and then choose not to view it after :), personal choice i guess.

  • I STILL love it despite the problems for videos on websites. ill just use the youtube app.... thts what it's for! :D

  • @v123bah In the video I used Engadgets site... not just Mr Tube :), its a nice device though ;)

  • @samjpullen lol... its ok still a great review though... i think your the first! :P YOU SHOULD BE PROUD!

  • Hmmmm I've not seen this problem with flash in other reviews..Strange how it's performing...Pinch to zoom just isn't right on videos. Looking forward to more videos of the Sensation... After watching this clip against the S2, I'd have to say for the first time, I'm edging more towards getting the S2...

  • @Smudgey711 me too man. I have a Desire at the moment and i wanted to stick with HTC but the SG2 seem to be the winner so far...

  • Well I wanna see there new os features like the lock screen then I'll decide but I think I fell for the sg2 so far

  • SGS2 Wins then I guess :P That does do the pinch to zoom on the video properly and scrolls on engadget completely smooth :P

  • Samsung Galaxy S II is better.

  • You shouldn't have disabled flash

  • @bonga0711 And why is that :)

  • its more powerfull than a p4!

  • Galaxy S2 looks to be the best so far. Think that'll be replacing my Desire HD very soon :)

  • droiddog.com does that too.. wont go to the regular site

  • WE WANT MORE VIDEOS !

  • @fotljubei I am glad ;), because i will have many more videos in the coming week etc

  • I'm glad I bought a galaxy s2. Now i'm certain that i've made the right choise. Thanks sam!

  • galaxy sii or htc sensation from your opinion so far

  • nevermind i heard it again AND its not you lol sorry

  • did you fart at 2:19 lol?

  • @bb6h22lude4 lol that was the Galaxy S2 vibrating on the desk :)

  • yes i have the problem too with technobuffalo htc desire hd and desire s

  • cant wait for the s2 comparison, because i get paid next week and im looking for a new phone

  • Sam now that you've got two of the best smart phones out, which one are you using right now? and any ideas as to which one your likely to be sticking with? although i suppose you cant reveal too much via a comment because that would spoil future videos i guess lol but you can at least answer the first bit :P

Keep up the great videos, enjoying them all

  • @jonnygti Between me and you ?

    Keep watching ;)

  • hmm, browsing with the s2 was definetly better..., waiting for the next video ;)

  • were is the review of the phone?

  • thank you
