  • I think it's a human/christian mindset, that if you just "knew what I knew' you'd be just like me. "have you heard the message of Jesus Christ?" "Um no..never heard of him". "did you know it was Christmas?" "Nope, missed it."

  • Thank you for this. I have had years when it didn't bother me as much, but this year it's been a little harder. I was saying this morning about how I feel left out sometimes, even though I know ignoring Christmas is the right choice for me. So thanks for seeing us. I know there are more of us out there, but we can feel invisible. Your video came at the right time and place to give me a smile, a better day, and a (ack!) happier holiday.

  • Brilliant. And dude, you're sexy as hell, has anyone ever pointed that out? Oh - and if your *not* having a happy holiday involves becoming a serial killer or harming small animals, that is not ok. Happy Holidays! Or not.

  • Hear, hear!

  • This is truth on so many levels. I never really thought about how unhappy people just might be during these "happy" times.

  • To everyone else working in retail: hang in there! Just a little longer.

  • oh my god. you are one of my favorite people ever.

  • What's so sad is that you, IllDoc, don't recognize or understand that the reason people CAN be happy is that GOD gave His Son to remedy any reason for unhappiness. "For unto us a child is born, and unto us a Son is given."and people don't have to die and spend an eternity in Hell if they believe the Good News. That in itself is enough to make and keep me happy.

  • @Elaiyel well what about those who celebrate chanukah, kwanzaa, and other holidays but often feel obliged to celebrate christmas simply for societal reasons? non-christian/non-religious americans are constantly pressured every year to participate in a holiday season to which they have no spiritual connection. i feel like your personal beliefs are clouding your sympathy for a season which demands it the most.

  • @djindoe Everyone is welcome to enjoy December in any way they choose. If a person doesn't want to celebrate the birth of Chris, that is purely up to them. Accepting the gift GOD gave, is up to each person. No one is forced to do so. But those who receive Jesus Christ as their Savior and want to celebrate His birth annually shouldn't have to try not to be happy out of fear they might offend someone.

  • @Elaiyel It's not about the meaning of Christmas. It's about the heart condition of those who don't enjoy the season. It's great that you have awareness of the savior. Many don't and are truly unhappy. It's obvious that they aren't happy, because if they knew the savior, they would be. Your job is to become a fisher of men, not condemner of unpopular beliefs. Only God can judge man. This video is true on so many levels and has me reconsidering how I approach others during this holiday season.

  • @caramelcomments "Your job is to become a fisher of men, not condemner of unpopular beliefs." I'm not getting whatever it is you're trying to say. Would you like to try again?

  • @ElaCbrist said "Follow me and I will make you fishers of men." Oftentimes Christians get hung up in putting people down and condemning that they forget that their job is to fish. To bring others to the joy of knowing Christ. So reread what you first wrote. Does your tone and the words you chose truly represent your faith? Does it cause others to want to know Christ?

  • @caramelcomments In my first post, I don't see anywhere I was either condemning others' beliefs or putting people down. As for tone, anyone can misread any tone into written comments made another in an online post. I stand by my statements. My tone represents the fact that people who have trouble enjoying the Christmas season, don't understand its true significance. Happy Holidays!

  • @caramelcomments "It's obvious that they aren't happy, because if they knew the savior, they would be." Not necessarily. Being Christian is not some simplistic happy pill. Christians face loneliness and depression, too, and it doesn't help for us to have to go around thinking our faith is going to be questioned if we don't put a smile on our face and play along.

  • @vdicken You are so right! Thank you for correcting me. I have dealt with those same issues and that does not in any way diminish my faith. But it does indicate something, the spiritual condition. For Christians, this should be a joyous time of year. If it's not, then there is an underlying issue. Speaking for myself, it was faith because if it were stronger, those negative emotions wouldn't have stood a chance. However, no one has the right to question another's faith. So again, I say thanks!

  • Haha, it's funny because not everybody is happy during the 'happy holidays'. So clever

  • Jay. thank you for this, as always you tell it like it t-i-s. I have depression, and I'm stuck with a very judgmental and religious family that is extremely homophobic, they would never accept that i'm a lesbian. The holidays are especially stressful for me because so much is put on family togetherness and I have always been the outsider in mine. i needed to hear this message more than you know.

  • Thank you for saying what no one else will!

  • Acknowledgement har real value. I love you Brother Jay... pause ^_^

    One,

    - Brother Chimaobi

  • Jay: Have you ever acted before? Do you ever get offers from people who want you to act? Am curious. I have a feeling I'm not the first person to ask you this. You're charismatic and talented.

  • Yay!-smooth. Thank you again for articulating feelings many of us have felt and for lending support when it is needed most.

  • I disagree the Christmas is hard, it's the New Year's Eve which is hard. You suspect that everyone but you has friends is going out and you're not.

  • my fault i meant 2 agree wit u lol u r so right lol

  • was forced to go to a christmas dinner to watch out for an abused family member. thanks for making me feel a bit better :3

  • Thank god it's optional lol.

  • This is in my subscription window again, but its almost a week old... funny.

Liked to watch it again though, "happy" new year ;)

  • am i the only one who noticed the link on his eyebrow for the last like 8 secdons or something like that lol... sick vid tho

  • Nice one Brotha!

Seriously, good vid man:) 5/5 and favorited

  • i couldn't agree more... great video and thank you for braving the unknown with this video... may people wouldn't even think about the people who aren't have a " Happy Holiday". But i must say.. i would much rather hear " Happy Holiday" than " Merry Christmas" seeing that i am not a christian and don't want your religious views shoved down my throat for forth eleventh million time... (( LOL I love that number... it is now my new fav number))

  • I had to rewatch this because I'm still not having a happy holiday. I've been volunteering at my local women's homeless shelter and it's the opposite of "happy" there. Especially seeing women turned out on the streets because the shelter is so full. It's 9°F outside and people are being forced to sleep on on streets. Happy New Year everyone! Stay nice and warm.

  • there's a difference between "Wishing" someone happy holidays or ordering them to have a happy holiday

  • @illdoc1

    Happy Holidays :)

Thanks for the video. Definitely hit the nail for how I feel and many of my peers...Thanks as always :)

  • As usual you echo my thoughts on just about any topic Jay. I work as a book keeper for a Salvation Army Corp and this time of year is anything BUT a holiday for SA workers. The publics been great despite the recession but the workload is quite literally triple at the moment and I'll be a lot more "HAPPY" probably sometime in February.

  • Wow, you hit it right on the head. No one seems to understand this feeling of not being happy during the holidays. well at the least not the ones are happy. I get depressed not around christmas, but new years, valentine's day, and my birthday are the worst days for me. Granted my birthday isn't a holiday, lol.

  • Thank you for this video. Sometimes it's difficult to express how the holidays can make you feel.

  • <3!

  • You are soooooo funny and on point ;-) ha ha ha ha, happy holiday and bring in the new decade with a bang!!!!!!

  • "threatened by courtesy"...Emphasis should be on the word courtesy, though. Sometimes the courteous thing to do is to consider the circumstances of the individual before you open your mouth. If you're in the habit of doing so just to sooth your ego...you'd be hard pressed to find others who agree that this would be the pinnacle of courtesy, compassion, love or the random act of kindness.

  • I think 'How are you?' and caring about the answer the person gives is the most important think you can say to anyone at any time. That way you get to find out a) if there's a reason the person doesn't like christmas and b) if you can do anything about it.

...closely followed by 'Here, let me set the table!' to your parent/partner on Christmas Morning :P

  • Society is so fake.

  • I dont know why, but i felt insanely happy in the third shot where you said happy holiday with your cat lol. Im not even a cat person haha.

Great video, as usual. Amazing message delivered in an amazing way

  • This video is so on point. So true. So true.Wow, so true. Thank you...

  • @pedo8phil it's not about being offended or thinking people mean to be unkind, like I said in video people can be fully aware of the good intentions and still find it stressful.

  • you're right, in my head I switched stressful with offended and it totally mutated your point. Of course if people are stressed because they can't have or provide that great holiday that everyone seems to have and want them to have, then they do deserve someone to tell them that it's okay not to if they can't or don't want to, and also of course they should try to not be offended when people with good intentions wish them well, it's that part that I would have trouble giving a pardon.

  • @pedo8phil This offends me.

  • @ElQuesoGuapo well then I apologize. Because like the people that say happy holiday, I wasn't trying to offend anybody.

  • awesome

  • YAY!!! I love this video. I say happy holiday, but hate saying it really. It's so superficial and contrived. Does anyone really care that you are having or not having a happy holiday. Only people who really care and who are willing to help you do something about it, should say it to you.

  • Thank you - all ways.

"Happy" at first meant "lucky." Used as a suffix (e.g. bomb-happy) meant "dazed or frazzled from stress." "Holiday" - means Holy Day so the whole PC thing is out the window wishing everyone a Happy Holy Day instead of Merry Christ Mass

  • thank you! i love you! I really needed this.

  • I am so thankful that Christmas is over and done with. Hopefully new years will be a little less lonely...

  • I'm with you, but I've had such a shitty year, I'm actually looking forward to new years. Of course, next year will probably suck just as bad.

  • hahaha! Thanks, Jay! In a twist of irony, you actually made the holidays a little bit happier.

  • There is something wrong with me...sigh.

  • Jay you need a cartoon or a sitcom of some sort.

  • LOL yes people need to understand that it is optional ...................with respect!!

  • That's a nice message Jay.

  • Im one of those people this year...... glad its almost over for me! <3 love your videos!

  • THanks so much. I really needed to hear this

    Peace

  • HAPPY HOLIDAY! lol...but foreal i understand this video 100%

  • Jay, you are my hero. Thank you for posting this. =)

  • nice

  • aww look @ pretty kitty. lmao @ having to be w/ your family that you hate. [100th comment!]

    happy holidays!

  • Thanks Bro. This brightened my day. I'm at work and my family is 2000 miles away. Best wishes in 2010.

  • Thanks for saying it so well.

  • Thank you for seeing me today. This video meant a lot to me.

  • This video is just further proof of your innate awesomeness-LOVE IT!

  • Thank you, Jay. My feelings too and you express them so well. I have so many friends and acquaintances who are humbug for many very good reasons (and I've been there myself) so I'll share this for them and for all of us to remember.

  • THANK YOU!

It means a lot to hear something like this to balance out all the chaos of the holidays...

    :)

  • Thanks illdoc1 happy holidays to you and your family as well.

  • My exact feelings on Valentines Day. "Bah Humbug!"

  • Agree here. That's why I do instead reserve Feb. 14 to mark the approach of spring, rather than anything to do with romance. Basically a modern-day version of Imbolc or Candlemas.

  • @ComradeSephiroth yeah Valentine's Day is the worst of them all.

  • Truly sad, because the month of February is supposed to be the most exciting of all, due to it coming right at the start of the transition toward spring and summer.

  • haha nice! it feels like you did this video esspecially for me

so also to you 'happy hollydays'

  • another amazing video.

    dftba

  • Dude, I finally got my videos to get ads and they're flashing like yours :-) There is nothing stressful goin on here. How you doin??

  • thank you for this. real talk. dont get me wrong, im gonna be happy for my brothers and sisters this holiday season but salaam on behalf of muslims everywhere for feeling some empathy. its not something we get to experience on a regular basis with american culture.

  • Thanks I needed that. Hap...Ahh for get it! Humbug! lol

  • I thought I was the only scrooge...

  • I love your videos. I wish you made them more often.

  • Your a clever sum'na'bitch.. You should leverage this talent with speech into something fiscal

  • and for those w/o holiday - you happily speak to us as well - yay diversity. open the box - there's room for everyone

  • Thank you.

  • Always trying to bridge the divide aren't you? ;)

    How about "Peace, y'all." *waves*

  • Thank you for this,

I am one of those people who isn't able to spend the holiday with my family. Much appreciated!

  • I try to ignore the holidays personally. Thanks for the acknowledging holiday loathing.

  • thank you jay. i really needed this. someone that is not completely blind to reality. i really look up to you dude.

    -Yocheved

  • Thank you so much for this. Just the acknowledgment made that knot aching in my gut untie a little, made me feel a little better.

  • Thanks Jay for the recognition to those of us not in the holiday spirit. Just finished getting my immediate family their "gifts" and I must say this holiday is losing its appeal. I just want it to be over.

  • damn the only thing ive heard relevant to me all holiday season!

and how about the question 'where are you going on new year's eve?' and you're supposed to say something really cool like you gonna have a wild time when all you want to say is 'i'll be home alone watching videos on youtube, you got a problem with that?!'

    lol

  • Great post Doc! Wise words from one of the Magi.

  • touch up yo kitchen AND enjoy saturnalia

  • man, true words... but somehow I was in a really good mode when I clicked play and now I'm kinda sad, cuz I actually managed to forget all the evil shit in the world that goes down every day for the moment and now I'm a little depressed. had a nice evening with the folks and brother and his pregnant girlfriend and it was all good. maybe you should put up a warning "IF YOU ARE IN A GOOD MOOD, MAYBE SAVE THIS ONE FOR TOMORROW" Cuz it's all true and as usual good video, but... you get my point...

  • fantastic vid.

  • How about have a good day cause NEWS FLASH not everyone is participating in the winter festivals. No I'm not an atheist, I just don't subscribe to obligatory celebrations and the frantic demands of enjoying the holiday season. Festivus for the rest of us.

  • thank you!! happi holydais! (i spelled it different, does it make it better? =p)

  • what the hell is on ur eyebrow after 2:19 ? thats more distracting than watching somebody get beat up for saying happy holidays to the wrong person 0_o

  • Happy Holidays!

  • This made me laugh out loud in recognition. Thanks for posting & reminding me it's ok to feel uncomfortable if not lousy since it's just me and my kitty this "holiday" but I'm oh so grateful to have her!

  • seriously, awesome as always.

  • I hear you Bro; 6 stars.

  • I said Bah! Humbug! Then a friend sent me a picture of herself topless, to cheer me up. I think being humbug paid off quite well. ;)

  • Dig! This will stay with me for years down the road.

  • Thanks Jay. This video hit the spot and put a smile on my gloomy christmas eve day. Now I can go out and do my last minute christmas shopping. Best of Wishes!

  • Comment removed

  • THANKS J Smooth...this video is for me. I have to be with the family i hate...or dislike.

  • I'm soooooo diggin Ill Doctrine and Jay. So with that, a Bah Humbug AND a Happy Holidays to everyone. That should just about cover it! LOL!

  • wow i feel like u made this for me lol. I can't make it home for Christmas and this actually made me feel better. Thanks

  • Simply....Thank You.

  • This video cheered me up.

  • ahhh it dtill doesn't work for me??? i'll check things on my end....

  • @mefilmmaking it seems to be hit or miss for some people, i would wait a few and try again

  • excellent.

I hate the "ha ha you're alone" holidays (which is basically everything from October to February pretty much)

  • @KMFCM yeah valentine's day is probably the worst offender..

i see youtube added an "@soandso" function, interesting

  • A week ago, somehow all the people I subscribed to were gone. Thank goodness they reappeared. Your account was one that I was trying to find, hoping it wasn't lost. Yeah! You are back!

  • happy spending your hard earned money on people you like, people you don't like, people you want to like you more, and, if you have some change leftover, people in need.

  • At some point, happiness is a decision-the well wishers are hoping Ur Holidays go well. Thank U for knowing that those who say Happy Holidays have good intentions. No one is trying to be evil. I think your message is a GREAT ONE..but it can be shared effectively without making the people who are wishing others well feel like crap. There's enough cynicism and hostility in the world, I'll take good intend any day as it alone may make my holiday just a little brighter, despite my circumstances

  • same to you!!!

  • happy holidays! hahahahahaha <3

  • Never thought about it like that.

  • You speak the truth, but i am having a happy holiday :)

  • You are the fucking MAN illdoc1 you just made my fucking day with this one!

  • ok now can people see it? doggone youtube..

  • @illdoc1

Indeed we can. Good stuff, buy the way! XD
