  • first of all THANKS a LOT for all your awesome videos

i am amazed that you can remember to make all those different knots, how do you do it??

you must have"glue brain" :-D lucky you

and where do you get the best/cheapest paracord 550 ??

    take care :-)

  • JD, when you present the rope, try one thumb up and one thumb down to mix it up. Love the videos, a great inspiration. Thanks!!

  • Very wise! Im an amateur filmmaker. Never occured me use lights such a way. You not only teaching us knotting but making film as well!

  • What I couldn't figure out, is where was the camera that took the actual knot making video? When you ended this video by turning around and leaving the room, I didn't see anything attached to your body that looked like a camera lens type thing. Is it something like a very small lens like seen in spy movies or something?

Thanks for taking the time to make your videos, they've been really helpful to me in learning new knots. I searched Utube for bondage ties, and discovered so much more!

  • Starting each tye when you flip your thumbs up to reveal the paracord, I always say in my head "tah-dah, here's the cord" lol. It makes me smile! thanks for the "behind the scenes". And thanks for all the cording videos. gregg

  • Awesome

  • great stuff, like yoga for the eyes.

  • Now, to complete this, make a video showing how you made a video of this.

  • I was wondering how you got such clear/clean shots and now I know! Thanks...great job and awesome job on all your videos. And I so agree with steelhiker, about the house and hands thing, yup yup, but mostly on your stop and show technique. It gives me time to stop the vid and do that part of the knot. :) I"ll add that I love your beginnings where you put your thumbs together over the cord. Really focuses my mind. Thanks! Super job!

  • cool i was wonderin how u do it ! once again nice videos !

  • I'll be purchasing your book to add to my collection! I have enjoyed your YouTube vids for some time now and I'm amazed at how you effortlessly make it all look so simple. Some of these knots have made me want to pull my hair out! But I really enjoy tinkering w/various types of cordage and knots. Thanks for your willingness to share w/all of us via YouTube and your book! Fantastic Job!!!

  • is that a song from the movie Moon i hear??

  • Thanks for your well organized house and clean hands. Not to mention your impeccable pause and show technique. It couldn't be better. Also, was that a Toy Story alien I saw on your shelf? Super cool.

  • What special surprise?

  • So generous of you....thank you. I love your willingness to share. Thanks again.

  • i just realized that i'd never seen anything but your hands up until this video

  • WOW increíble gracias por la idea!!! y la música es excelente.

  • Excellent choice on the music, I really loved Moon.

  • Wow thanks for sharing this with us. Where do you get the lamps and the white popup thing at? Also is ur tripod just a regular camera tripod?

  • Your a real class act, great job and thank you.

  • Don't ya love the ancient houses and apt's that for some reason always put electrical plugs right next to the fireplaces...Seems like they were just asking for trouble lol...great Vid as always

  • JD, thank you. I was just asking about this a few days ago! One more question: What hardware do you use to shoot video, and what to edit/insert titles/etc.? Keep on tying!

  • That music was fantastic. Please tell me what it was called or where I can get it. XD

  • @wallmartkiller it was at the end in the credits

  • Nice setup

  • Awesome.... I figured you would have some cool cord knots though...hah

  • @Mykarmaxspiredaz That was exactly my thought!

  • Very nice and interesting look into how you make your videos. One suggestion. Get some cord keepers, or use some spare bits of paracord to tie up your cords instead of winding around the base of the lamps. Winding the cord around a small diameter object can fracture the internal wiring leading to shorts, and I'm sure those lamps aren't cheap. Also, it'll save you some time on setup and you'd be less likely to drop the lamp while unwinding the cord.

  • @TheAngryvikingman I'd second that, though if the cords get broken it's hardly the end of the lamp, putting new cords on something is cake.

  • his room is exactly how I though it'd look

  • i need a few of those lamps. the green and white colors and the pattern made me hungry for the chewy nuget christmas mints lol.

  • The quality of your work is very impressive. Keep it up!

  • Thank you very much.

  • That's a lot of prep work.

  • What brand of Light box is that.

  • @FroggyVector

CowboyStudio - Photo Studio Reflector Tent

  • That is an awesome setup that i may have to coppy here or there

  • @RYDERkN

Feel free to copy. I'm putting this out there, so people can do just that. Still, most of what I do is created in my mind - can't really show you that (that said, the book conveys a lot of what I'm thinking).

  • the two color bush bar looks friggin awesome, do you have a special method for evening it up or do you just need to take the time to work back through tightening it like a turks head?

  • @tronclay

    ...

If you adjust each layer as its created (tightened firmly and consistently) the bar should come out flat and even.

  • you put in a lot of effort, i appreciate it thank you

  • You obviously put a real concerted effort toward them. Thanks for sharing. I don't think folks understand the time it really takes. Your vids are great!

  • that is one giant lad in the background

  • whats up with the statue of the penis?

  • You would think a person making knot tying videos would come up with a more convenient method of stowing lamp cables : )

  • @newcoyote

    ...

The lamps are cowboystudio lamps (250 watts). Brand new, they cost $45 each. I got (both) mine at a garage sale for $10. I've had them for 6 years and both continue to work well; despite my hack way of organizing their cords (smile).

  • @TyingItAllTogether Thanks. You know I'm teasing. You don't have to pay for equipment and give your time to make these helpful and interesting videos. It is appreciated.

  • @newcoyote

    ...

    I'm good... *smile*

I feel appreciated. In all truth, its a big reason I keep on digging into my mind for more ties every day. Best to you.

  • Did anyone else notice what looks like an awesome Toy Story Alien in the background?

  • @calcrules Actually, that is Ganesha, a Hindu God.

  • @RoseBlood77 Incorrect, RoseBlood77. Calcrules was talking about the three eyed green dude in a blue jump suit from Toy Story that is two the left of the lamp TIAT had set up and a little bit below the line of where the mantle of the fire place sits.

  • @RoseBlood77 Ganesha is an elephant Hindu God rather than a three eyed, green alien wearing a blue jumpsuit.

  • @unknownwolfperson Oh! I see him now! Cute!

  • @RoseBlood77 Sorry for any typos that I may have had.

    that is to the left***

  • By the way.... really nice set up brother...

  • Is the surprise the big red penis on the right side of the couch at the end?

  • @RoseBlood77 you are right.. it seems to be a huge red penis...

  • @kowboy520 Now that's what I call a fusion knot!

  • I bought a raffle ticket and waited around till the end for the "Special Presentation" of a complimentary copy of Decorative Fusion Knots by JD.

My ticket number is 6734458........... Did I win?

  • Hey JD... nice set up.. although, I don't see what the "special surprise" was. I was expecting something like creepy glowy eyes after you turned the light off or something.

  • *scratches head*

I'm lost on the "special surprise" as well...

  • he has a very soft voice for such a burly looking man and a nicely decorated home.

  • You are a insperation to me! Keep on doing this. You are helping the human race.

  • Very cool, it's always interesting to see 'behind the scenes' .. another great video, thanks

  • Very nice. It's cool to see how different people take on the same problem - i.e. finding a good system/environment for shooting videos. Your presentation and production quality has always been top notch. It's cool to see that you're really just improvising a decent setup like the rest of us.

  • Thanks for the instructions JD

  • ok what is the special surprise. Nice video...nice to see how you achieve the blank field affect.

  • Awesome video JD,...keep'em coming. Really enjoyed all of your knot making videos. And Happy Holidays.

  • that was just awesome.

  • Very cool. Thank you for all of the great video's!

  • Now your secrets are out there. Great tips thanks you.
