  • what s the title of this movie?

  • asa s-ar putea spune si despre rusi in republica moldova

  • Actually responding to U2's member taking a pacifist out look on the Irish struggles.

  • What film is this song based on

  • You slap me across my left cheek, I turn my head and offer you the other, you slap me across my right cheek, "Feel any better?" That is why I kept my comment so light, I am not here to discuss how much both countries have spent slapping each other across cheeks, leaving both sides remaining unresolved for 100's of years as it were. I am simply saying it's time for the couple in the video to get divorced. If you don't see the relation the way I wrote it then I can't help anyone! Don't reply!

  • That's an unhappy love song, simple! You guys are going off the deep end about it, I never thought my remarking on the actual couple who are unhappy in this song would get such stressed out responses, your making my brain hurt,it's not supposed to lead to a depate, or a writers workshop class or something. I am not saying being english is great, Ireland is full of people with big EGO'S, they are not helping themselves, anymore then the British are.

  • Bless :)

  • oops typo have to do with a woman trying to recapture love

  • Holy Crap you guys, I just read all your spew and I'm just thinking what the hell does any of what you all said with a woman who is trying to recapture love from a man that doesn't know how to show any for a woman who is bearing his child??? You're all nuts! Now she has to raise a baby as a single Mother or live as a very unhappy married? one!!! Who cares about Gold! :-)

  • @iamjustjen Are you retarded or something?? This song is not meant to be taken literally. Its o'connor condemning Englands behaviour in Ireland over the centuries. You know all the ethnic cleansing, famine, war, etc, etc, etc.

  • @borledx Well said most English people are oblivious 2 England's war crimes in Ireland, that's why some think it's a love song I'd laugh but this is a travesty. I am first generation English & I live with the shame of England's behaviour towards IRELAND's people, They are some of the finest people to walk this planet. England has been the TERRORIST in Ireland 4 700years.... GET OUT NOW 4 God's sake

  • @rchapman4444 I only commented at all because of the sheer dumbness of the previous poster, I just couldn't let it go. As 4 u feeling ashamed, i dont why u wud unless u participated in events in Ireland. My travels have taught me that Irish/Brit people mix better socially with each other than any other nationality. As 4 the continued occupation of the 6 Co's, Demographics & the GFA will take care of that in the next 20/30 yrs. We waited 800 yrs, so we can wait 20 more r 800 more if needs b

  • @borledx You use the term Brit. Now I'm a Welshman and if you cut me open you'll discover a Celt. I have never and would never consider myself to be a Brit. In fact I've noticed recently that the only clients I meet who use the term British are Asian immigrants.

If you mean English, then say English and give us Welsh and Scots a break.

    Bless you.

  • @aTruster

I agree, and as a proud Englishman, the sooner we break-away from your hold on our kingdom the better. I'm fed-up of paying taxes for your well-being.. lets see how the nation of Wales copes alone.... lol

  • @iamjustjen You're an absolute retard. This song is wasted on you.

  • @iamjustjen

'all nuts' hey..? Oakey-dokey, then why is the song called '..rebel song'? Think before you comment, its a parable of the history and fate of Ireland; seen through the perspective of two lovers.. one is Irish, one is English... go figure.. the moral of the song is that we are all the same and that love outshines all earthly disputes...

  • That songs depressing, ahhh he's mean and it's representing a form of abuse in the relationship that clearly is saying sweetheart it is time for you to move on!!! Growing up English Sucks!!! Nobody talks to each other, we never say what were thinking.. Hurray for the punk movement.. so glad I found it when I was younger! I'd shoot a guy for treating me like that! :-))

  • I must confess, I am from the UK - as soon as I hear any songs of hate from either side I just phase out and let them get on with it, no point getting involved - this is the first song that has actually made me think about the situation in a reflective manner. I hope that for all of us, we see a bright future.

  • beautiful song, just as all songs of this type. wish a knew something about my celtic ancestors, but unfortunately my blood is too mixed^^

  • Omg...simply superb!!

  • What about my Spanish Bird? Cant i get a song about her, she was fcukin crackin!

  • Shinnaed O'Connor does NOT have an angelic voice. There is NOTHING angelic at all, at all, at all, about the girl! That said, the WELSH AND SCOTTISH were living in The Anglocelt Isles (aka British Isles) before the Irish, Manx, Cornish, English ever were. In fact, what is now England ONCE WAS WALES!!! Read up on the various histories of These Isles! JUNE 11, 2011. P.S. WHY WOULD ANYONE HATE THE "EXPLETIVE" ENGLISH. Such ignorance.

  • GOD i hate the fucking english

  • @dagnab1 : Why would ANYOONE hate the "flipping" English? Aare you not being racist? How would YOU like if people said, "I hate the expletive dagnabs?". Now, now, stand inthe corner!

  • @squirell1952 holy shit fool are you kidding me how about rape murder enslavment degradation and all elese yes asshole im racist as hell to the english why would we irish not be FOOL

  • @dagnab1 The Jews aren't mad at the Germans anymore. Why would you still be mad at the English? So lame...

  • @senman6 Becouse you fucking dumbass the jews are now free and rebuilt ,We total jerk are not free and rebuilt yet WE are still being violated untill this day GET IT

  • @dagnab1 No,you aren't violated. You are a free sovereign country. If you don't want to work with the rest of Europe including the UK leave the EU and become poor and isolated. But you're already poor. Maybe you should focus less on religion and hatred towards other people and more on your economy.

  • @senman6 Are you stupid or something man not violated , Free sovereign you idiot, The goddamn english still controll the whole goddamn country through the 6 richest counties and as for not violated try having you children shot in the head with rubber bullets and killed fuck you dant say a thing elese to me EVER

  • @dagnab1 I think your mind is too filled with conspiracy theories. "Yes,let's all bring Ireland down." There is no reason whatsoever to control you. You don't have any valuable resources except for beer, religious hate and poverty.

  • @senman6 You godamn lying devil the truth has been known long long ago pile of shit every one knows the first gold mine in europe belonged to the celts and they where killed and the mines taken Most of their other resources have been taken by the ENGLISH and the whole goddamn world knows it and what religious hate do you mean all the hate aginst us our druids our religion our people our culture . you make your self more a fool each time your mouth opens

  • @dagnab1 *sigh* yes. And when was this goldmine discovered? A very long time ago. The Romans also ravaged our lands but we don't hate the Italians. Your culture has stood it's ground. You shouldn't worry about that. If you keep being this angry you'll never know peace. By religion I meant Catholic vs Protestants. You know "Sunday Bloody Sunday". Nobody hates you. If they do then they are just as stupid as you are by hating English people.

  • @senman6 Jack ass easy for you to say like i told you they are still shooting our kids with rubber bullets in the head to kill them they still are controlling our country by force military force aginst civilian people PLEASE STOP BEING STUPID AND SHUT UP

  • @dagnab1 I could say the exact same thing to you.

  • @senman6 you could say the same thing to me your nation, people , and culture are in this state as we speak , you are like a child that doesent know when to shut up trying to have the last word, you deny what is happing and has happened to a decent people listen SHUT THE FUCK UP BOY

  • @dagnab1 If you really think this is happening in your country then do something about it. But I don't think it does because I would have known.

  • @senman6 Think watch the damn news Holy shit ,Dont you think id love to change it , How many of us have died trying to change it ( BOBBY SANDS ) please please please dont ever speak to me agin!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @senman6 and as for focus on our economy it would be wonderful if no one was stealing your resources for hundreds of years you act as if the english ever stopped or made it right you are a fucking fool on the edge of being cursed PROPER

  • @dagnab1 Silly. The Catholic church did all those things to the Irish.

  • @warriorprince1010 yes as romans first who then sent guess who........ the english wow im right holy shit what do you know

  • FUCK YEAH NO USE FOR A NAME!

  • This lovely songs makes me remember it was ENGLAND - NOKT BRITAIN - who colonized Ireland!! But so many people in both All-Ireland and England do not seem to be familiar with the geography of both Great Britain and The Anglocelt Isles. That said, I'll enjoy Ms O'Connor's song again and again!

    Desmond, Dublin, May 10, 2011.

  • @squirell1952 IDIOT the irish where there long before any angle showed up you are from friesland goddamn do you know your own history truly hear WE WILL ALWAYS HATE YOU ...The Celts

  • @squirell1952 Fucking fool the angles are a germanic tribe from friesland goddamn you dont even know who you are fucking fools

  • Make a load of money, talk a load of self-contradictory nonsense, then live somewhere comfortable out the southside - what a fuckin rebel . . .

  • Tried to comment this but i was almost impossible due to technical problems.

Apart from that: speak to each to each other, try to forgive and to go on. There is no other thing than at and I know what I am speaking about - I was raped, I had abortions, I was a beaten up etc. when I was in England or Irland, in America I was beaten up to death and in Germany where I was I was grown up I was almost killed.. Nevertheless I try to be happy.

  • So this is how she looks like with hair.

  • if angels had voice, it must be sinead's.

  • Wow, that song hurt like I'd never thought was possible. I don't think anything could have made a hard-nosed Irish kid think twice about the war like that right there did. And that's saying something.

  • From one soul to another- I love you, Sinead.

  • maybe im stupid but..i dont get it.. how is this a rebel song?

  • don't you hear the words in this song

  • Hi brother needs to chat a, Asian women busizz4me.info

  • How long have you lived under foreign occupation, Sinead? 0 years?

Well fuck up about peace and the rest of your craic.

    BRITS OUT ANOIS.

  • @RepublicOf32 How long have you lived under foreign occupation? 0 years. You're from the Rep. Ireland.

I'm from Northern Ireland you cock, don't you dare try and bring the bombings and shootings back you twat. Have you ever had to grow up with bombs? Probably not you wanker.

  • @RepublicOf32 Thank you for telling him, im not for our people living in violance i was trying to tell him what has been done to us celts and is still being done, Oh and for their info Im shure many of our celtic family know about what was done to the IRISH in america aswell, its happened on ever contienent and for a long time we are good people like anyone and want to be free and happy

  • @dagnab1 You will be free one day soon I hope, The day will come....!!!!

  • Petit album...mais que de merveilles sur celui-ci.....

Je l'ai depuis mon achat, à l'époque, et il fait partie de mon antologie....

    Une pure merveille concentrée....

  • the no use for a name version is so much better. you want balls, get over there.

  • fuck you Bono. This IS a rebel song!

  • @Harosgr fucking right at least sineads no scared to sing the facts Bonos a pussy

  • proud to be irish gwan sinead girl ..

  • I am from a Celtic blood line and proud of it

  • Sinead O Conner is one Woman that has balls! She loves Ireland with all her heart and soul I wish there were more peaple that feel that way about there country I am an American because of where I live but in my heart I am Irish, and if people don't like Miss O Conner or Ireland they can kiss my ass! That goes double for you english.

  • @ofmfvette such a miserable comment to leave on such a beautiful song, and no your not Irish. obviously, hater!

  • @ofmfvette Oh shut up you twat.

"but in my heart I am Irish" That is the biggest bullshit I ever heard. You're either Irish or you're not.

"That goes double for you english." I'm not English, but that was childish and unnecessary. I'm Irish (from Northern Ireland) and I don't know whether you're trying to prove your "Irishness" by saying that, but either way it's pretty ignorant and idiotic.

  • @grobo11 Why does him saying he's Irish at heart make you so angry? Hmm...

  • @Ryomoto This isn't Walt Disney. That's like me saying "In my heart, I was always a badger." It's complete and utter rubbish.

You're only Irish if you're born in Ireland and have Irish parents.

  • @grobo11 Ireland is a nation; not an ethnicity.

  • @Ryomoto Wrong.

The Republic of Ireland is a nation. That means you can be a citizen of the Republic of Ireland however, where I come from (Northern Ireland) I am a UK citizen.

Both the Rep. Ireland and Northern Ireland are located on the same island however, the two are seperate nations.

Therefore you can be ethnically Irish (like me) and be from both borders however, as a nationality you can only be a UK citizen or a Rep. Ireland citizen.

  • @grobo11 I understand everything you're saying except the fact that I'm wrong. o.O

  • I think you'll find you're wrong. If you're born in the north you have a choice to carry an Irish or british passport. Usually the Nationalists choose to carry an Irish Passport. So therefore you can be from the North and be part of the Irish Nation. You'll find that Mary McAleese is An Uactharáin na hÉirenn which translates as The President of ALL Ireland.. Give the nationalists in Scotland & Wales a bit of common courtesy and refer to the countries by name please. The 'UK' is dead in the water

  • @grobo11 - Being born in a country does not make you of that country. Belonging is about more than where you are born, it is who you are, it is a bond of ancient blood. Blood makes you who you are, not a passport.

  • @mulungungozi Well that's the spiritualist piece of ass side of it. There is no 'ancient' bond we feel with out blood to a piece of dirt. If I was born in India that would make me an Indian citizen and I would be called an Indian citizen as it would be my nationality but I am not an ethnic Indian.

You can only be Irish if you have Irish parents and are born in Ireland.

  • @grobo11 - Sir Cliff Richard was born in India, does anybody consider him to be an Indian?

  • @mulungungozi India was bart of Britain, he's British. Remember Britain still had many colonies even after WW2.

  • @grobo11 - I will concede that point. The nationality laws of the UK only substantially changed just prior to the return of Hong Kong to China. However, what about Boris Johnson, the Mayor of London, he was born in the United States of America. He is entitled to US citizenship due to that fact, but does anybody think of Boris Johnson as an American?

  • @mulungungozi America has no ethnicity (except of course the natives). All New world countries have no real native dominant ethnicity e.g. You can have Chinese parents and be born in the US yet you'd still be an American becuase everyone else is an immigrant or a descendent of an immigrant. Therefore the same circumstances cannot be applied to the old world countries where there is a dominant majority of natives still ruling the country and who make up a considerably large part of the population

  • @grobo11 - Interestingly, the previous New Labour British government signed a paper stating that there was no indigenous population in the UK. That was unfortunately a part of the multi-cultural agenda they have always peddled. DNA evidence flatly contradicts that assertion. Blood and DNA make a person what they are. I guess it is simply a matter of if one feels connected to ones genetic and cultural roots or not?

  • @mulungungozi Here's the flaw in that bullshit statement. 'New Labour'. New Labour are a joke and have zero credibility. Of course there are indigenous natives in the British isles. New Labour are far left whores who will say anything to appease what ever person with the biggest paycheck. Furthermore, multiculturalism has nothing to do with multi-ethnicities, it's in the name stupid. Also, where is the evidence? New Labour also said that Britain doesn't use torture but we know that's not true.

  • how come you never say you're sorry and i do....

  • ehhhhh....poorly composed...even if the spirit is there. Seriously contemporary pop is not the appropriate medium in my opinion.

  • sinead oconnor for queen of Ireland. we deserve a queen, the english have theirs........

  • hermoso, cuando escuché esta canciòn el 2002, me veía viajando por los campos verdes de Irlanda

  • hermos, cuando escuhè esta canciòn el 2002, me evocaba viajando por los campos de Irlanda

  • Love her with her head shaved and the army boots. She is an inspiration and a leader! Don't stick with the norm Sinead. You have a beautiful soul.

  • Sorry.

  • If it's any help - God I love you Ireland. Couldn't wish for a more beautiful neighbour. Sorry we've been rubbish to you over the years. It may be an excuse but I think we've been thoughtless rather than cruel.

  • @juvedean

    Fair play to ye Juvedean.

Why don't you come and have a cup of tea?

If your attitude was that of the majority of your countrymen we wouldn't have had the problems of the last 40 years.

  • @juvedean iv heard we gaelic are not by nature conquers the english are but evein then its not as simple as that its very blaim the sarsonachs an nothing is 1 sided tis sum how sadder killing ur own

  • I like this song

  • @steecofarn - yes this is music is about burning the english flag and saying we feel sorry for ourselves - Its a love song

  • how was the first verse "kinda dirty?"

  • dobryy kawałek !

  • the guys my uncle :)

  • Sinead is wonderful and so is this song with all its meanings. I'm English and she is right to say what she says.

We are not all bad but bad things have been done in our name.

But this is often a bad world.

Thank you anyway for this beautiful song.

  • Sinead is one of the greatest artists/singers of all time. She communicates so deeply, emotionally. She's so pure of heart and voice. I truly love her. She moves me as much as the great opera soprano Maria Callas. two very different genres, but emotional honesty and truth. Wow! LOVE SINEAD!

  • What good will shutting me out get done

Meanwhile crazies are killing our sons...

I assume this would have been written when Thatcher was "denying the oxygen of publicity". Many maps of the UK shown on TV just had a blank space for Ireland.

An odd time, and this very thought provoking...

Also the "crazies", I wonder whether she also referred to those who've never visited either island but paid for the bullets and explosives that killed so many of both sides.

  • @enigmaticatherealone

There was more to dispora than blindly giving donations.

  • Is that the northern or the southern diaspora?

  • @theassbastard10

There is more to giving donations to the cause than simplistic generalisations.

  • @enigmaticatherealone

The Shankill Butchers were definitely crazy.

Several of them are still walking around the streets of Belfast right now.

  • idk i thought the first verse was kinda dirty lol

    good song though

  • This Is a true Rebel Song!

  • Comment removed

  • What a absolutely beautiful song!! Delivered by a true soul. Leaves me in no doubt. None at all that..... This is a rebel song.

  • simple answer skinheed they see you as the enemy. apart from that i love you and some of your writing and music.. plus the fact you helped SHANE when he needed somebody . yool never read this anyway

  • and she's beautifull stil

  • she was so beautifull...

  • @nehdar

    She still is.

  • respect...

  • Es una exelente artista, una de mis favoritas.Me gusta sus interpretaciones y su dulce vos.I LOVE THIS GIRL.Un saludo desde Argentina

  • ich würde sie heiraten sofort...alleine schon wegen der stimme...*.*

i woluld marry she becuase her voice (sry my bad english im only 15...) she has a so...beutiful voice...i love her for her voice...

  • Stunning pride of such beauty, that's what you gave with your presence. Black boys on mopeds just said it all. A. Thanks

  • There's no doubt this genius woman/singer is "mental." Bless her. Gospel Oak (EP) exemplified her real return to songwriting brilliance in '97, and she looked, sounded healthy (the baldness is ridiculously old & silly, as an image). But, she had already ruined her mainstream career in '92. Sinead tried to reclaim an audience for her art with cool songslike this, with the pretty hair; nice nails; but the audience wasn't there. Because of her "art."

    Biggest irony in music.

  • She's not "mental"

    She has bipolar disorder

I've never seen her with hair before this

but I think she looks awesome, however the baldness isn't silly, it's her.

By the way there is another irish singer from the Cranberries who has the same type of image and it didn't destroy her.

  • Dolores O´Riordan, you mean.

  • Not everyone has a so called 'image' for any reason. People read too much into things and judge people too easily! switch off the video and listen to the voice and the music, it removes any prejudice!

  • Ireland Unfree can never be at peace

  • Political rhetoric = yawn

  • i read yor comment. double yawn.

  • The fact that you can read = major surprise

  • is that so. how did you come to that conclusion when you dont even know me. wow theres a lot of morons on youtube. you seem to be an experienced one.

  • Dont take things so personally, Lizzie. Have you seen Sinead ply her wares in a live setting?

  • im not a huge sinead o connor fan. but in your comment = POLITICAL RHETORIC, i just thought you were bringing politics into what is clearly a love song. thats all father dowling.

  • I was not referring to the song itself, which is one of her best, I was referring to some of the comments made on the video comments box, which are boring in their tired political rhetoric and argumental avenues. Do you see?

  • i get you now. no i didnt read through the comments to be honest. so people were making a political football out of a lovely love song. pretty sad that. this is an excellent song. as i said im not her biggest fan, but she sure is an interesting lady.

  • Yes she is indeed. I saw her perform in Budapest a few years ago - great gig

  • sineads brother is joseph o connor a renowned novelist. talented family.

  • Like the family of the Corr siblings?

  • Jesus said to Lafa, "Come forth and I will give Liverpool eternal glory."

Lafa managed fifth and won a beach ball.

  • best comment ever.

  • Sinead... (from her website)

ON GOSPEL OAK, THE LOVE SONG "THIS IS A REBEL SONG" ALSO COULD BE INTERPRETED AS BEING ABOUT THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN IRELAND AND ENGLAND....

It *is* a direct response to that. What the song is rebelling against is the fear of standing up and saying that we believe in the right to ownership of Ireland by Irish people.... This song is a way of rebelling against that fear. We shouldn't be afraid of standing up and saying we have a right to our country.

  • thanks holcozz, very interesting.

  • Aren't you putting your words into her mouth. The relationship between Ireland and England has often been one of love and hate. Even during the troubles it was still possible, even easy to travel between the two without a passport.

The welcome I recieved in '76 as an Englishman in Eire was truly loving. Turned to hatred in Hyde Park, to indifference and back to love again.

  • direct quotation=P

  • @enigmaticatherealone

That's right. Your realisation is the truth re: love.

It wasn't so easy though, to travel into England in the 70s and 80s if you were Irish.

  • mickey rourke gave to the provos

  • You have a point.

Though for there to be an armed struggle, there has to be a political mandate to justify armed struggle.

The United Irishmen had it right, it just veered off along the way. There is no such thing as 'catholic' nationalists. There are however Irish Nationalists. dissident factions believe 'the british presence still remains'

I can see their point though i do not agree.

  • were you in 'neighbours'? that dog was the best actor out the lot of them, f you are the real bouncer, can i have your autograph?

  • haha no lol..i wasnt in neighbours

  • Nationalist fuckwits... that includes all nationals.

  • irishsheking=

Eire is still under the occupation of the brit crown forces, that encourages the armed dissident Oglaigh na hEireann to keep up the fight.

Ireland unfree shall never be at peace.

  • listen, i've said it elsewhere: you'll get nowhere hosting an armed insurgency. before teh comparison is drawn, i'll strike pre-emptively: palestine is not a good example to compare yourself with for two reasons... a) hamas is getting nowhere and b) you're not surrounded by sympathetic nations. additionally, at this point in time catholic nationalists are not in anywhere near the same dire straits that the palestinians are in. statistically, they are much better off economically.

  • this is also true when comparing the state of the nationalist body to where they were before 1998. violence is not an answer, and, as shown most recently, it will only result in alliances AGAINST your cause. approach the situation politically, and, with due dilligence, the promulgation of catholics, and the nationalism that follows, will naturally result in the overshadowing of the protestant presence. how much support do you think sinn fein will have then? you'll cast your ballot for pres.

  • where's the love?

  • Why are any of you irish dudes wastinany energy arguing on here...any wankers like those who fucked up Ireland will get whats coming to them. They will never understand unless they came over to ireland and actually studied any irish history and understood what their ancestors and their country is really about and how it got to where it is now!!

  • It is such a beatiful song, tears burst into my eyes every time I listen to it. I know it is a political song, but I just listen to it as a love song which is about an English man that I fall in love with, but he lives in London, I live in States!!! Love is tough, I love you, my English man!!!

  • Thanks for vid n lyrics. anyone know who wrote this song?

  • Oh... I don't know... call it a hunch, but I think Sinead wrote the song...

  • OK I have a history of missing the point of stuff like this, so go easy on me: How is this a Rebel song when she desires an Englishman? After all those bloody imperialists did to Eirinn?

  • its not a rebel song! the title is ironic! and she sings about the english and irish hating each other and blaming each other, yet both sides are guilty of murder! it's irrelivant which side she takes because she doesnt want to pick sides! She wants to be judged as a person and not anything else!

  • god save the queen

  • Yeah, Freddie Mercury rocked :-)

  • Why Brits dont pay their dues for the Genocide they have done not ONLY To Ireland but to many countries.

  • How can a people 'pay their dues' when the present generation is not responsible for past atrocities? Secondly, it was largly the aristocracy and members of parliament elected by todays standards, undemocratically that were the perpetrators. So any 'apology' by a collective people would be bankrupt in both meaning and value. Every country has a history of invasion, disease, rape, starvation. Am I a victim of that? No. Ireland is no different.
