@firstshakirafan Well to you your opinion, and to me mine. I am basing my argument on what she herself has stated in interviews. Surely if you were such a fan you would know her opinions and how much she celebrates her mixed heritage. @firstshakirafan Also, I am only concerned with stating the facts, i.e. scientific FACT. I am not Lebanese or Columbian so couldn't care less either way. I love Shakira and to me, she is a child of the world. She is a Latina that celebrates her varying heritages and that is why I love her. @firstshakirafan The fact that he was raised in Columbia doesn't make him Columbian - he has Lebanese blood in him and therefore so does she. Clearly you haven't studied science - a person gets 23 chromosomes from their mother and 23 from their father (Lebanese in Shakira's case), making her 50% Columbian and 50% Lebanese, by blood. Though obviously she is more Columbian as she was raised there, however the fact that she talks so much about her arabic heritage shows she considers herself both.

@laupii1 Yeh of course she's proud of being Colombian - she IS Colombian. however she also has some Lebanese heritage and that cannot be ignored - she certainly doesn't ignore it! Watch interviews of her life story etc, she says many times how her dad used to take her to Lebanese restaurants and that's how she got her interest in bellydance etc and how her family on her dad's side is lebanese and she went on a trip to lebanon with them a few years back. Her dad is Lebanese, her mum's Colombian

@laupii1 Of course she is proud of Barranquillera - it is where she was born and raised. However genetics are genetics, she is also part Lebanese. She has mentioned it many times in her interviews. I couldn't care either way. She is not great because she's Colombian or Lebanese, she is great because she is Shakira (which actually means thankfulness in Arabic...that is what she said and I know some Arabic so I know too). Anyway I am not Lebanese or Colombian so don't care either way.

Wikipedia Shakira and you'll see her dad is Lebanese and she started bellydancing when she heard the arabic drum being played at a middle eastern restaurant in colombia.

She is also cousin to Valerie Dominguez who has Palestinian Arab ancestry. She was Miss Colombia a few years ago. Wikipedia her too.

Also bellydancing is Middle Eastern and that is what she does. In her interviews countless times she talks about the Lebanese influence in her life. I however will not resort to profanity, like you, as I am basing my argument on fact and you are basing yours on a total lack of knowledge of the Performer and her background.

Si es una gran artista y cantante, pero creoo que shakira se olvido de sus fans en COLOMBIA, pues nunca ha hecho una presentacion de estas en la tv. colombiana ni mucho menos viene a dar entrevistas a medios nacionales y si viene, lo hace a escondidas como lo hizo en la presentacion de los MTV en bogota no quiso recibir a nadie a excepcion del director de la mega y nadie mas....que pesar que se haya internacionalizado............­............
