  • This was the first computer game I ever played.

  • drive it round for fucks sake

  • Anyone able to tell me the controls for this, as I can't find them anywhere in the literature that came with the game(or elsewhere)?

  • @thelyniezian

Right, you had to press "t" to start the engine, I remember that! I think z and x were to steer left and right. Changing gears were 2 keys with your right fingers, roughly where ; and . are on this keyboard. Man, I loved this game. Can't remember any more, sorry. Johnny Turbo was the best though, I loved when I was able to beat him.

  • i played this when i was 12 year old , cool at the time

  • I remember my BBC B, amazing how far games have come in such a relatively short space of time.

  • This game was brutally unforgiving. Great fun, though. The first true driving SIMULATOR I can remember.

  • Guys does this game can be runed on PC or DOSBOX because its maded only for two platfroms?

  • great game, still one of the best, anyone beat 125.0 ?

  • Heh heh, holy crap! Remind me never to lend you my car...

"Take a left off the highway here."

"Okay, I'll slow the car down by shifting into 1st gear."

"Then take a right at... hang on, you'll what???"

    *sound of 20,000 rpm*

Epic game, thanks for the vid!

  • @movieapple lmao!!

  • This is the prequel to Grand Prix, GP2, GP3, and GP4!!! Amazing!!!

  • epic oversteer xD

  • I always preferred the game Overdrive. Level 3 was fun because the car kept sliding on the ice.

  • i loved the names of the other drivers, wilma cargo and max throttle, dan dipstick, among others also my fave hugh gengin i think it was lol

  • "spoiler setting are too low"

nah, hes trying to get round that corner too fast. hes also not taking racing line...

gently move over to left of track.

brake at the second board enough to make 3rd gear. go round smoothly

you should always be in the appropriate gear - neutral isnt appropriate!

dont change gear during corner, all braking & gear changes should be done before steering (you can get away with it sometimes though)

  • Your spoiler setting are too low, thats why you keep coming off. Take it from someone who played Revs all the time when I was a kid

  • Cool.

  • jeez have fond memories of my dad and his mates playing this in the computer room =D

  • dude, this was back in 1986!

I think I remember playing (apparently) the first Virtual racing game in an arcade. I believe it was in 1982. Ahhh, the graphics. Colored polygons galore.

  • This guy on the video cannot control this car what so ever. Use the fricken brakes not the gear down so much else you spin the car.

  • OMG I had this game when I was 17 years old in 1985 for my BBC Micro Model B. Like almost 25 years ago, it is scary to remember all that time like it was yesterday seeing this. I was really good at playing this game, often in pole position.

  • I absolutely LOVED this game, i had it on the C64. Silverstone & Brands were my faves. Revs+ had 4 new tracks (donnington was one of them).

I used the settings 40 and 32 for good cornering or 30 and 22 if i wanted to go like stink down the straights and be slow in the corners.

I once finished 3rd in a Revs professional race which is just about the greatest achievement in my entire life ever! :o/

  • i always found this game sooo hard. i didnt know the controls

  • What amazes me is the speed at which this thing is running on that little 1Mhz 6502 processor!

  • so realistic heh the sound is spot on too if your on lsd but yeah thankgod for having an imagination is what made these games totally awesome,,,love the speed gauge too how fast is that top speed 12mph LOL

  • oh no it dosnt show speed its rpm but same is still questionabe 12rpm is tops isnt that seen on like a steam roller or the titanic

  • WOW, i forgot about that fence that appears out of nowhere!

  • do u know which pc the game lander was on ? i want that game anybody can help i used to play it in school in 1986-89

  • Use the Brakes!

  • 40 32 were the beginner settings, they were ok for the easy races, but If you tried to play professional, you couldnt get fast enough.. you had to drop into the twenties, but then you lost control easier, which was difficult seeing as you only had one life in the main race... Johnny Turbo, Max Throttle and Gloria Slap were the hardest to beat. Im showing way too much knowledge here. Later.

  • Yep I think the guy in this video had to much front downforce (or to little rear) and hence why he was overstearing

  • I'll never forget the glow of achievement, after weeks of playing, when I managed to get round a whole lap without crashing.

  • I remember this game, it was really difficult.

  • Sid Spoiler & Max Speed... :-)

  • Max Trottle rules!

  • Long live Hugh Jengine

  • I could nver stay on the track. I was worse than Miles Behind.

  • Na, the best wing settings I recall we're something like 10, 11. Loved the game. Basically gave up my education and became a grand master at this game and Elite! LOL!! With the wing settings the guy has in this game I'm surprised he made it around even once. A respectable laptime would be 1:20 something

I wish this was available as a simulated game. :-)

  • it is - go see the numerous BBC emulator sites to play them on your PC :)

  • Nice one. Loved this game, wasn't too keen on the 4 other tracks though. You can get round that chicane in 4th gear you know. The settings are meant to be 40 and 32 by the way!

    Mon the Johnny Turbo

  • Cool - nice to see this one (the origin of simracing) once again. Just the driving ehm, plentifully sux sox here. ;) (Although I'd admit, did crash it a lot myself back in the day ;)
