  • I used to live in Nashville and got to know him very well the time that i lived there, He used to pay me to get him food, drink's ect.. on a regular basis while he was preforming.

He told me that he has a daughter that lives in Arizona that wanted nothing to do with him, I never quite understood why though.

He was always wanting to get back in a studio to make an album of his songs, The only time he had the chance to get in a studio was back in the early 90's and made one demo that he gave me.

  • "i want a big legged woman with a big ol' butt!!"

    IS HE DEAD?!?!

    god i hope not.

  • Met Him twice, could have listened to him for days. He was an amazing person, Good Journey on Your travels VT

  • I always made a point to put some cash in his bucket. He didn't stand by the interstate with a sign, he didn't ask for money, he played us a tune and we thanked him with a tip. He was a true musician, 2nd Ave will never be quite the same.

  • I met velvet a couple times and he was the most sweetest guy! It was nice to see how some of the people came together to give him a proper burial...not only a burial, but near some of the legendary names in country music. Velvet would be honored. God bless his soul!

  • I loved the song " Ham Bone" Rip

  • Velvet sang Happy Birthday to my little sister for years after her birthday dinner at the Old Spaghetti Factory. She's 25 now..... God rest his soul.

  • RIP Velvet...You will be sadly missed my old friend!! :(

  • RIP Velvet Thunder.....

  • RIP

  • Velvet is very ill and in the Critical Care Unit at Summit hospital here in Nashville. I'm hoping he pulls through but he's very very sick at the moment. He needs your kind thoughts and prayers and if he passes, I'm hoping to scatter his ashes along 2nd Ave....

  • God Bless Him!

  • Velvet Died today, November 16th, 2009 at 12:58PM. He was surrounded by friends who loved him. RIP my brother; you will be missed...

  • haha. this is awesome, me and my friend just started college in nashville and everytime we go downtown we see this guy passed out on 2nd ave. one time i actualy thought he was dead being as how he was leaned backwards over his wheel chair asleep, barely hanging on to his guitar. anyone who wants an autograph, he'd be more than willing (as long as you have change to spare)
