this song must be sung mainly by Arab Catholics, since it is originally a latin hymn (salve regina), as far as i know, this prayer/chant is not known among the Orthodox, so it must be meant primarily for those who are Catholic (i.e. melkite catholics).
thank you for posting it, it is beautiful in arabic.
melkite catholics are NOT LATIN. We are byzantine, so we are orthodox by tradition. However, it s a shame to see Arab christian living under restrictions discriminating between them. Every time you distinguish between a cahtolic or an orthodox its a nail you insert in the christ! Happy holy lent.
actually, i am well aware that melkites are not latin. that's why they're called 'melkites'.
but "Salve Regina" is latin, and a prayer that is (not officially) known or recited by the Orthodox (not in communion with rome). i do understand there is more 'exchange' between Catholics (in communion with rome) and Orthodox (not in communion) than other Orthodox in the west. Salve Regina is attributed to St Bernard of Clairvaux, from the latin west.
It's interesting to see how much Eastern and Western churches and chapels can adopt practices from the other. I once saw a picture of a Coptic church (In Egypt) with a statue of Our Lady of Grace. On the other hand, there are many Roman and Anglican churches that have more icons than statues.
beautiful prayer in song. God bless all who listen to this song. Ave Maria
