i am with your boyfriend i love long grain rice so i always have 50 / 50 rice and beans and i always season mine with hot peppers garlic onions and celery also some cilantro plus beef stock and green onions and hot sauce
Ok these are most definitly not Southern Beans and rice! You use pigs feet, or ham hocks, etc. We don't analyse serving, we just dish it up. We eat it with cornbread. Wow. This dish we grew up making as Slaves, and we made it for white folks in the past, and like gumbo and everything else they now make it too! I told my grandma who's still alive, she should write a book about the descent of certain southern foods from slavery to the 4 star restaurant today, talk about their real roots, etc.
@cammicty I made the vid when I was living in Nashville after Katrina so the ingredients were the ones found in Nashville.
as far as slavery, I'm of Irish decent: The Irish slave trade began when James II sold 30,000 Irish prisoners as slaves to the New World. Ireland quickly became the biggest source of human livestock for English merchants. The majority of the early slaves to the New World were actually white.
@metrykat I do not ever need to be told about slavery, I've studied when the first Africans were brought in detail! Yes there were white indentured servants, but not as many as Black, and they were not at all treated the same way. In the 1600's the Black indentured servants that were brought to the states were in the east coast. Many of those Blacks, who stayed in the East Coast never went through slavery as hose in the south, cont,
@metrykat cont, but they still went through hell when slavery and hatred toward those of African descent had worsened. The Whites that were brought over as indentured servants, yes they were bad off, but there is no comparision between those and the Africans. I really resent when Europeans, actually have the nerve to try to compare their dismal situation to the ''Hell and Shit'' Africans in the US were put through, when they were brought here. They had no choice, so save your version of slavery!
@cammicty have you ever heard about what the irish went through when they got here???? it was almost as bad as what the africans went through. you might disagree, and that's fine. or what about what the native americans went through?? blacks were officially us citizens in 1868, i think. natives weren't fully us citizens until the 1950's. doesn't excuse or mitigate what happened to blacks, just gives the idea that plenty of people suffered.
@tranurse Oh wow, you're amazing! It's evident, you have no knowledge, of Black history! You cannot compare what the Irish went through compared to Africans! No group of people in history have went through the pain and suffering as the Race of African people, and that was not just 100 or 200 years ago, it is still ongoing, a mental slavery that was left behind. ( of course this is something you'd never understand, it's useless covering this subject with you, that's obvious. cont,,
@cammicty i never said that african american's didn't suffer. hell, i'm not even irish. my ancestors were cherokee. look up the trail of tears. i know all about the atlantic slave trade. rum, slaves and sugar. all i said was that plenty of people suffered and plenty still do. the holocaust, rwanda, the balkans.... for some reason, we seem to like to kill each other.
@cammicty Wow, I am black and I just wanted to say, GET OVER IT!! Jeeze, some of us make it seem as if black people are the only ones who have endured (or are STILL ENDURING for that matter) Slavery. Be lucky that we're out of it, some people in some countries aren't so lucky. Heck, there are people in this country who aren't so lucky even if it's illegal. So stop making everything about race and make it about the quality of being a human being in general.
@JTuesday777 I am over it, however, as I replied to the other comment. I am not of today's bamboozled blacks, ( the majority) Next time read and try to understand the entire comment, if that is within your power to do so. The comment has nothing to do with being racist, it was just facts! My comment stands, and unfortunately when comments are made that are the truth, as mine, it bothers some white folks. But moving on,,,,
@cammicty And like tranurse says, doesn't excuse or mitigate what happened to black people, just gives the idea that plenty of people suffered and are STILL suffering from slavery so stop making yourself or our race the lone victim of something that never even directly happened to you. You don't see Haitians like myself saying "Damn those French folks for what they did to our ancestors hundreds of years ago!"
@JTuesday777 Don't jump into a comment, unless you understand why it was made! FYI Slavery was slavery, but no where did they suffer the most as Blacks in the USA. This comment was not racial , just facts! I do understand there are many Bamboozled Blacks today as well. I am not afraid or shy to discuss what happened in slavery towards Blacks, nor do I back down, towards the ill treatment of Blacks still today in society, so get your head out of the grass!
@tranurse cont,, The average causcasian will always chant, that those of African descent did not go through much, ( the average Causcasian who is prejudice or borderline, etc) However, don't ever try to compare what the Irish went through to that of what those of Africa descent went through, you cant'! I've research the Irish, the Anglo Saxons, the Asians. Many different cultures history of suffering, but as History shows, nothing compares to that of those of African descent, do your research !
