Jarre has been using preset patterns for a long time. Revolutions 2 is an example. Also some filler parts for his Hong Kong concerts were just complicated preset patterns on his keyboard. I'm disappointed in my hero, but I'll always support him.
I love Jarre's albums - but he's always loved using preset sounds - just enjoy it if you like it. A sound's a sound. Just because it's original doesn't mean it's always nice to listen to.
The easy excuse: "yeah yeah mum, it's not coincidence!! the reason is that Jarrita worked for Roland" COME ON!!! Did he also worked for Elka and after that used the preset in the Laserharp?? LOL.
This man is a fake, a farsant, a lier, he simply a rich boy buying ideas. He simply bought Dreyfus ideas, Geis's....
After 35 years, he's still fooling the entire world and having a king's lifestile paid by you, harcore and blind fans. At least Milli Vanilli admitted tha fraud.
I don't believe he created that sounds, it's simply ridiculous to think that he "colaborated" with Roland without appearing in any of the adds or promoting the MC808, it's also ridiculous and silly to believe that he created the sounds and patterns and after that he made a record that only use that :) hahaha!... People very angry here, defending a farsant.....
I've also noticed some elements in Teo & Tea being used from the MC-808 while credits go to different artists in the manual of the MC-808.
The "Pattern List" can be found at media.rolandus.com/manuals/MC-808_PA.pdf page 15 and page 17. There are many artists using base lines from an MC-707/808 unit to form a song and many beats a/o rolls are re-used with other samples..
It's common with these "groove boxes". This is sure no fake at all.
Some of these songs are created by "magic", could be why
Actually, What he mainly does is get samples from his old school gear and then put the songs together using a giant mixing desk and computer software. He pretty much doesn't use digital gear. Even his new synths are analog.
Nice. Someone with no clue posting a video, and then more guys with no clue commenting on it.
Uhm, get a clue?
"Jean Michel Jarre explained that he entered into a partnership with Roland Japan last year, to collaborate with and contribute to demos, patterns and presets [...] Jean Michel Jarre explained that the MC808 was one of these products, therefore it is not surprising that certain elements of his new TÉO & TÉA album appear on the Roland MC-808 [...]"
i just think it's wierd to use some patterns that he made for the roland mc808 and then later on make some tracks out of it for his new album that's not very innovative any more in my opinion.
the tracks are cool don't get me wrong but he should use the machine and make something new i think
@bananepoep He made something new, and then he offered it to Roland. Isn't that hard to understand, really. You're looking for "scandals" where there are none. You should actually be happy that you can have some of Jarre's original patches on your synth.
maybe you should try to understand what i mean and not judge me for what i think of it

@bananepoep jean michel jarre didn't make these patterns. look at the manual and who the credits go to. there is absolutely no JMJ mentionned. @CrossAngelProject the confusion is that the artist name on the albums is JMJ and on Teo and Tea it is clearly a collaboration project with various artists. What would have been clear would have been "Jean Michel Jarre featuring various artist such as Killian Schweer" etc... or he should create a "BAND's name... But JMJ isn't aiming ^people like us anymore....
@bananepoep JMJ was, is and always going to be GREAT!, his music was original and brilliant even when you don´t even think to start thinking, so shut up and cut the crap you are writing...oh and......by the way I see it you are tottaly FAKE, so maybe you should call yourself bananafake instead.
It was said that JMJ was hire to prepare songs based on the MC, but after couple months of work Roland decided not to use the material. He was paid, but they still had the rights over the songs so his company decided to publish them as new JMJ album.... seems he accepted.
True or false, it's a quite uninspired album, that's the pure truth. The cold receptiion of the album, forced to launch a new Oxygen, to give some... oxygen (quak!) .
JMJ, we forgive you, you are a huge artist anyway...
Excelent! This means for me, once again, that J.M. Jarre is on the VANGUARD of electronic music, competing even with all the computer programs that exist around the world! Live on Jean Michel Jarre! Cheers to all of his fans!
So with you on this. I felt so much shame while listening to T&T. Awful music. Roland makes awful stuff these days. Think he should know that. Roland used to make the most amazing synths and stuff. So DID Jarre. Still...Oxygene and Equinoxe are masterpieces.
A ceci près que Jarre avait un partenariat avec le constructeur de ce modèle qui lui a réclamé quelques séquences. Les presets sont tirés de l'album et non l'inverse!
Well, "Magnetic Fields part V" would not exist if it wasn't for the automatic rhytm section on his ELKA X-707 organ (also known as "Nuit Electronique"). But that doesn't make it a bad melody.
Yes that is correct. But the difference is with the MC-808 is that Jarre not composed the melody but he letterly takes the Roland demo patterns and set this on a CD wich is called teo and tea.
Conclussion: TEO AND TEA is composed by Tim Hufken.(that is the guy who composed some demo patterns for Roland)

So relax, there are a Lot of musicians who use the patches that are already sets in their keyboards, and record a lot of CDs, and nobody complains of that!.
I think it's very valid to use thousands of instruments or thousands of presets, or just an instrument, take for example the DJs, might be questionable the use of intellectual material of other musicians, in order to modify that material and transform it into other piece of music, when you make music with your electronic keyboard, you use the patches that are included in the keyboard and create things they liked as it sounds, I think that anything that produces sound is valid for creating music.

Sigh... a minute on google would have led you to this release from Jarre's management--"Jean Michel Jarre explained that he entered into a partnership with Roland Japan last year, to collaborate with and contribute to demos, patterns and presets for their future products."
Jaja... Have you ever wondered if these presets were created by JMJ himself? That is this case! Because he entered in a partnership with Roland Japan, the manufacturer of the MC808, in order to contribute to demos and presets for their products. MC-808 is one of these products. Therefore, it must not be surprising.

I think that the true story is rather that Jarre used MC-808 presets to advertise this new product among DJ's. Like "look guys, this fancy new device could make you a new album in two seconds"! Unfortunately, he have no need to write more music. he already did a good job, all the money is here, so don't blame him for this crap new music and don't wait for any more ingenious tracks.
Artists using presets is not at all taboo territory. It's well known they all use them... for example Jarre's traditional laser harp sound was a preset on the Synthex Elka. There's no secret to this.
JMJ isn´t fake.. many artist do make their songs from preset patterns and sounds.that is acceptable. when synthesizers and drumboxes didn´t have preset memories you had to program your own sounds (like JMJ did in Oxgéne/Équinoxe) but when the memory came to electronic instruments the musicians started to use factory presets among their own programmed sounds and rhythms. Nothing wrong with that; you can make greaet music by using presets too.
I am not surprised to hear that, because this album doesn't seem to be something he made himself. According to me, it looks like poor techno music, the kind of album you will never have bought if it was not written Jean Michel Jarre on it.
So I prefer to listen and listen again his old albums, until Chronology which his best to me.
If you see my video comment, you will notice that he used to have inspirations...
It's ironic that you mention Chronologie. When I was listening to the final track, I noticed that the "record scratching" samples reminded me *very* much of a "General MIDI" preset sample on my own keyboard. (General MIDI was an attempt to standardise the instruments/mappings provided by MIDI instruments, so that MIDI tracks for one keyboard could be played back on another).
My first thought was "he's used a General MIDI preset"... not just any preset sample, but one that was present in broadly-similar form on every General MIDI instrument. It just sounded tacky... and it's that "off-the-shelf" use of keyboards that lets Chronologie down IMHO. It sounds like it was designed to be easy to play in concerts.
you are all retarded. JMJ is oneof the best. hes working on prototype instruments in conjunction with roland and im sure other companies to make better instruments. get your facts straight about someone such as Jean Michel Jarre before you open your big ass internet mouth. im sure if you were invited to be proven wrong on your 'theories' about JMJ infront of a camera or audience, you would either decline, or be clowned infront of thousands of people...So Please. Shut Up.
Jarre could have done better really. I always thought his new album was a little too DJ/Nightclub'ish. Now I know that not allot of effort has put into the album, shame.
Jean Michel Jarre entered into a partnership with Roland Japan last year, to collaborate with and contribute to demos, patterns and presets for their future products.Jean Michel Jarre explained that the Roland MC808 was one of these products, therefore it is not surprising that certain elements of his NEW 'TÉO & TÉA' Album appear on the Roland MC808, or any other recent Roland product for that matter. JARRE is not a fake, kids. listen to me. he is the best!
ohh i forgot, has anyone for just one sec thought of the legal side of this whole thing, its not like Jarre is some underground nobody is he who cud get away with it, if he ripped off a companies product such as the size of Roland, they'd have his arse in court for more money than we'll all earn in our life times. rant over.
Have any of you haters played to an audience of 2.5million, mc808 or not, jarre is a recognised legend and has done more for music than you haters realise. maybe you'll use a couple of presets and be as successful as he is, or maybe not. im guessing the latter to be honest. Jarre has given many people pleasurable listening and moments of joy, you should respect that and congratulate him. he is not a fraud
being as tho 90% of music these days is ripped off of sumfin else i cant see the big fuss, and dance music is made mostly of samples and preset drum loops anyhow. How many guitar bands ripp other bands too. Theres always poeple on the net who devote their time to conspire and to hate, JMJ to me is a unique individule who has put on some spectacular events, destination docklands, paris la defense.
This was posted on todays JARREUK forum, taken from one of the websites admins.

Go to roland . com to MC 808 profiles of the pattern creator.... and what we can see:
Tim Hufken : 28 years old and born in the Netherlands. Now residing in Belgium he is the dance gear and Cakewalk / Edirol demonstrator for Roland Central Europe and BLA BLA BLA
There is a strong possibility that both Jarre & Tim made these for Roland prior to the T&T album. Anyone following the Jarre forums will know that Jarre has "advertised" the MC-808 and Roland SH-201 in his studio before the release of the album.
Phill Collins would say "I cannot believe it´s true".
I love Jarre and his music...,but this is embarrassing. He betray himself, his knowledge, capabilitys, cretivity, all for success? I hope Jarre become himself as soon as posible.
it doesn't matter if it's him or not as its album is not good ! this album can't stay in memory, wait and see the next one ;)

NotATube 4 years ago

Shut Up.
Vive Jean Michel Jarre!

I totally agree with you, I have no better words.
Jean Michel Jarre, master of masters.

JARRE is not a fake, kids. listen to me. he is the best!
djmixsound 4 years ago 2
ohh i forgot, has anyone for just one sec thought of the legal side of this whole thing, its not like Jarre is some underground nobody is he who cud get away with it, if he ripped off a companies product such as the size of Roland, they'd have his arse in court for more money than we'll all earn in our life times. rant over.
zoso11 4 years ago
if you own an mc808 then all patterns and sounds from it are free to use in your own production

If you use a gaita then, you will have to pay to the family of its inventor?
JMJ is The MASTER.

HE s A STEALER.
roland is cool about this, but i had D50 before, wotc on youtube,ALL revolutions jarre album was made of presets from D50.
he used presets of dx7 before, preset sounds of fairlight..
he's a fake.his first albums where made by the dinosaurs composers at GRM in france,in a science lab,and marketed out with his face onit.
he just made 2 years of litterature studies.he couldn't be a doctorant there.

LoL!!! You are retarted! All the synthesizers have presets that are free for use. The one who made those presets makes money, ofcourse he dont mind!
Everyone knows the famous Laserharp Sound from the Elka Synthex. Those presets are not even from Elka, they are from Paul Wiffen.

Fake or not - he makes money. More than I make, and probably more than everyone that has commented here about how fake he is!

Is this some kind of viral marketing?

Thanks for the video. J.M.Jarre seems to be overusing Roland instruments for some time which is quite worrisome.

ha-ha-ha! you are LOL !!
Do you really think that Jarre take preset??? LOL, read it:
So, look:
Jean Michel Jarre - Korg Radias, Moog Voyager, Roland MC-808, Roland Fantom-X-8, Roland V-Synth, Access Virus, SH-201...
Claude Samard - string arrangements, guitars, programming, Cubase...
Francis Rimbert - Roland Fantom-X-8, V-Synth...
Tim Hufken (!!!): Groove Box special programming and artistic collaboration: Groove Box MC-808 and Sonar Sequencer

StanislavKrasowski 4 years ago
So, Tim make pattern for new mc 808 (was release at winter NAMM) from Jarre new album when they do it together at the studio (with Mr.Jarre)!!
Jarre makes pattern for SH-201 and MC 808 from Teo and Tea album.
It's not to be a clever to understand that idea of new album of JMJ was written 2 more years ago.
P.S. Sorry fo my English! cause I'm Russian)
StanislavKrasowski 4 years ago
HAHA as you've written most of these instruments are Roland!
synthyaro 4 years ago
There is a strong possibility that both Jarre & Tim made these for Roland prior to the T&T album. Anyone following the Jarre forums will know that Jarre has "advertised" the MC-808 and Roland SH-201 in his studio before the release of the album.
Jonno71 4 years ago
The MC-808s user manual show the credits for every preset patch, patterns and song in the machine. Bananepoep could check it and respond us.
Kofla2000 4 years ago
you could check it too the patterncreators are on the rolandus site and the manual including patternlist is on the roland be site

Phill Collins would say "I cannot believe it´s true".
I love Jarre and his music...,but this is embarrassing. He betray himself, his knowledge, capabilitys, cretivity, all for success? I hope Jarre become himself as soon as posible.
Thanks bananepoep for drop light y the dark.
