I'd also postulate that if an ancient Mayan were around today... they'd probably be amused by "modern" mans ignorance regarding this subject matter. They'd probably wonder how people capable of some of the technological feats in our society today could be so clueless when it comes to the simple things in life.

We've discovered mini-malls, plastic bags and reality TV... but somewhere along the lines left behind things like values, decency and living in harmony with nature. Advantage = ancients

Yes, they could have said "hey, we have this calendar thing mapped out for the next 2K+ years, we're gonna take a break"... then Cortez came before they could finish it. Even more likely, it was the beginning/end of some cosmic cycle to them, for example the precession of Earth. The cycle would start again anew the next day. Time wasn't linear to them.

The Gregorian Calendar I'm looking at right now ends on Dec. 31, 2010. Guess I'd better start planning my own funeral...

The literal translation of "Armageddon" from Latin to English is "The Awakening". People are always looking for ways to prove that the world is going to end, you really think it's going to on 2012? first bible says its a world without end. Now as far as the mayan calander there was piece missing where its been said that 12-12-2012 was end of the world. Such rubbish. Again its world without end. Now Funny the myans are pissed cus of these lies.  The mayans themselfs say that the piece missing is talking about return of God in clouds. To me this is rapture not the end of the world.

I'm glad I believe in The Lord. However, I dont think the skulls have any significance to the end of days. I think those concerned about this 'Armageddon' event in 2012 should read the book of Revelation in the Bible and learn about the signs of the coming Apocalypse. If you found this interesting, you'll find that just as so. And if you don't believe it, well at least you had a read of a interesting series of prophecies no different than stories about magical crystal skuls. The choice is yours!

shoot, this 2012 date is really 3 1/2 yrs away ahhh!!! even longer than I was thinking. It'll be great for this date to pass. It's funny how many people are worried or talking about it -- even me here. lol We'll all be fine -- A god isn't gong to destroy anything because 'the boys were bad' People acting badly isn't a reason for destruction -- pretty silly stuff. yea i agree with everything in that video and i belive it all, but the mayans' only had 360 days on thier calendar not 365 days. surely this would make thier calculations wrong?

Yea but not only did the mayans calender end in 12/21/2012. Omg lol I just noticed if it was 12/20/2012 it would be 2012/2012 LOL!! But the jewish calender ends at that too and lots more end at the Mayan calender.
