It depends on the time, place, and status. Some times and places were indeed much better than now. One simply can not make broad generalizations. The old problems remain, and yet today there are so many new troubles to deal with. Open one's eyes and see history for the complex pattern, with innumerable ups and downs, highs and lows, that it truly is. And find a way to enjoy whatever time you find yourself in. One small way is by listening to this music.
was that picture of her with some man in a dinner suite from one of her vitaphone shorts, she did in New York? Is this the short she did with Humphry bogart in which the sound disk is missing. She only played small parts in feautres. Thanks to her first husband , base on her film autobiography , she never became a big movie star. She could of if it wasn't for Martin schneider ? is that what his name was ?
the poor girl got bullied by Marty "The Gimp" Synder if I were her I would stand up to him sooner than she did and I would try harder to stand up for myself!
@supersaraa941 Lot's of people long to live in a by gone era, but be very careful what you wish for!
The "good ol' days" were not at all good. What seems like carefree and peaceful times was everything but wonderful. People struggled and suffered so much more than they do today. It was still the gilded age.
People back then didn't know any different. If they could have seen 100 years into the future, they might have all jumped off the Grand Canyon. Life back then was NOT a bowl of cherries!
@zerogullibility Your comment reminded me of my grandmother's stories of growing up in the early part of the 20th century. She'd describe her father lookiing for day labor, her family living on oatmeal and lentils, quitting school at 12 years old to go to work, watching her siblings die of Spanish Infuenza. Afterwards she'd invariably roll her eyes and say sarcastically, "Yeah, those were the 'Good Old Days'."
@zerogullibility you are completelly right. a lot of things have not been quite good. but in the field of music and ART generally i do feel more "home" in this time as in the present. to haveing had the chance perhaps to dance one time with fred astaire or to sing one time with frank sinatra... all that is einough to wish to live at these days.... offcorse... with money einough to live... no question... and with a job and all that....
Now thats a gorgeous woman!!!

A timeless classic. They just don't write songs like this anymore...nor does anyone sing like this anymore.
