  • Changed me bleeding life.

  • I've always loved Hayley Mills. I also love our Kathy, our Charles and our Nan!

  • "He's not the messiah, he's a very naughty boy!"

  • I was a kid of about the same age growing up in Northern England when this was made,i remember the film so well. A wonderful film of childhood innocence that depits the times so well. They just can't make films like this today because innocence disappears at a much younger age unfortunately. One cherished memory of early years this filmnd strangely i can watch it over and over,my kids all watched it too when they were younger.Talk to anyone of my generation and they all remember it with affection

  • Oh 'M', you'll never live it down, if Miss Moneypenny see this clip of you in that hat there! But a great little film, this one. Shame that Brian Forbes didn't make many more of this kind of quality though. I have to say though, that my main memory of him, is when he was in those British 1950's various army and crime themed films along with the likes of Sam Kydd, Victor Maddern, Alfie Bass and the rest of the usual suspects of those days.

  • LOVE IT

  • I love this, it' isn't Jesus, it's just a fella. Unfortunately men of fresh are not Jesus, they are just a fella LOL

  • A masterpiece!!!

  • I just love these early 60s black and white films set up North. This Sporting Life, Billy Liar, A Taste Of Honey etc. My favourite up North film though has got to be Kes. Brian Glover is an absolute star as the games teacher.

  • this is my 2nd fav black and white film, the 1st being Roman Holiday

  • Best film ever and a Malcolm Arnold score

  • angry man in a party hat...

  • @p1nkAcid

Angry...did he look angry to you?

He just asked who she said it was for...try watching it properly before making moronic comments.

  • really touching the boys logic is great.

  • Thank you Peter for this, very touching...

  • went to see this film when it first was released with my mam loved this film ever since can watch it over again and again especially the line it isnt jesus its just a fella. I wonder how old that lad is now anne

  • Such a simple but profound film. It shows there are no answers when a child wants to know why did Jesus let a kitten die.

  • a brillaint film

  • That boy at the end is so sweet lol.

    "It's just a fella!"

  • I think this film is amazing best kids film ever. The performances are just amazing

  • Just watched this on BBC2 as advertised for this clip, and it's such a beautifully photographed film, with a sense of melancholoy and down tempo, along with the kids humorous quips, it's the first time i've seen it and is defo being added to my DVD collection!

  • I would love to know if the kids have happy memories of them being in this film, they must be in their fortys and fiftys now, they must have loved doing this in the 60,s,fab film its on BBC2 today.

  • About 4 years ago they found some of the children and re-enacted some of the scenes as they are today, Hayley Mills spoke about Alan Bates but the little boy whole stole the whole film was not there.....yes, they loved being in the film!

  • If you are ever in the area, starting at Rochdale Rd. end of New Line head down to Lee Mills. First right is where they filmed some of the scenes, they used a mate of mine to play one of the boys. Wont see in credits, could be content thing.

  • I absolutely love this film, I bawl like a kid at the end, every time.

  • It was part filmed in Brittania, home of the world famous coconutters.

  • no it wasnt !!

  • Yup it was can take you to the street and introduce you to one of the lads who played in it.

  • Not mentioned in the credits, film locations are all mentioned at end of film

  • This is a beautiful and inspiring film. I love the scenes where the children are talking to the man who they think is Jesus, and he's utterly bewildered and trying to bluff his way along-- so funny. The dialogue between the stern Aunt and the father is very funny as well, and perfectly life-like. From a cinematography point of view, the film uses its canvas of the rolling Lanchashire hills, with their broken stone walls and rocky streams, to lovely effect.

  • the house and barn remain unchanged 47 yrs later! recently visited the village Downham , lancashire

  • i have put the theme of this on you tube anyone wanting a copy of the theme please contact me thanks again for this post

  • Alan Barnes who plays the young brother of Hayley Mills is not the same actor who was in Love Actually. The actor in that film was a coloured guy.Alan only acted in one more film in 1963 called The Victors, and he now runs a building business in the N.W of England.I know this to be true as Diane Holgate is a friend of mine.(She played Hayley's sister)

  • the theme music is by composer malcolm arnold prelude whistle down the wind theme this ones at the start of the film the second piece of music is called the three kings also by malcolm arnold, the final film ending is called finale by malcolm arnold
