Hey everybody! I have released my new album 'Progenitor' which is electronic music inspired by great games such as the Final Fantasy series. You can check it out and download it for free on my youtube channel if you're interested!
damn i dont even barely listen to the music on most rpg's but the only one that really stands out and i can really remember is the main battle theme for ff 10 (deh deh deh deh deh deh deehhhhhhhh) and its sad that it didnt even make the list :( was just so epic
This was such a fantastic theme. Too bad it had to be wasted on a total joke of a boss...
I have to say, though: I think I was more partial to the music that was played when you fought Seymour Omnis. Seriously, go look that up. Like, right now.
such an amazing battle song!!! too bad the battle was worth less than what crap considers to be crap:( well then again, the battle was very emotional and very story-central so i guess it makes up for the whole "not possible to lose the battle unless your playstation breaks" kinda thing s:
I LOVED Final Fantasy X, and it was a perfect 10 for me, characters, story, music, worlds, culture, exploration all good.
But was I the only surprised that the final boss was a symbol and not an unsent spirit of Yu Yevon himself ? It would have been epic to fight Yevon as an unsent.
@84moogle They actually explain that part with Yu Yevon? That would be neat to see. I've heard good things about X-2, and bad things about it. Is it a worthwhile game to play for the whole thing, or just to find out about Yu Yevon?
@Allannon500 its a very worthwhile game and youl get loads of gameplay from it. it continues X's story line which hey who wouldnt want that and of sets a more upbeat fun feeling but still a serious story. the supper bosses are harder than the ones in X but after beating them you fight Yu Yevon in unsent form hence the reason i said play X-2. most people hate X-2 becouse of the all female cast and the story isnt as grandnbut to me and others its great and verry worth it
@holyfuck444 Lol yeah but we probably fight the symbol cuz his body dissapeared long ago due to him losing his mind degrading to where he can only think of summoning. I think it symbolizes (wow bad pun) how far gone he is.
what I love about the piano part of this song is that it sounds like it is played with only 4 fingers for the main melody. Songs like this make me love video game soundtracks.
@TheTrendSetter89 really? REALLY? You put the FFVII battle theme, one of the greatest themes of alllllllllll time, at 80? REALLY?!?!?! this is the first part of this series i've watched, I don't really want to ese the rest if you have that little taste. That's like... fucking heresy!
@ShadowofProclimaton Imo the FF7 battle theme is only great. The FFX battle theme is way better and its not even on the list.So its all up to personal taste. Although, i think he has good taste even though his list doesn't make up to your expectations.
Personally, I would have picked Jecht's final battle music for this place instead. I mean...you can't get better than Otherworld, c'mon~ Just...THAT guitar. Guh. *A* <3
As far as final bosses go...Yu (lol, gettit?! *shot*) was pathetic. -_-
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
this song is crap compared to a lot of ff songs. It's eloquent and enchanting, but it's too pedestrian for me. I like guitar riffs or techno equivalents to be the meat of a good boss battle song. Such as ff7's , the final battle in earthbound, and even one of the ff10 battles.
But this... this does not deserve a spot in the top 10.
i think loud, uninspired guitar riffs fit the definition of pedestrian battle themes throughout the PS2 era pretty well...but Sakimoto's contributions (like this) to the FFX soundtrack are the most complex compositions in this game
@TheTrendSetter89 I agree with you. Techno and guitar riffs are exciting, but its the compositions like this that really spell FINAL BATTLE to me. It's emotional and delicate, but it's intense and frantic as well. Hamauzu's piano gets me every freakin time. Have you guys heard "The Splendid Performance"? OMG!!
@Infidel775 Hehe for me he DID kill himself :3. <3 Zombie Attack. I was loling so hard for the entire battle. Looking back on it I wish I had used Zombie Attack then tossed out a simple Phoenix Down.
@Infidel775 I dunno. I think 1 shotting the final boss with a Phoenix down would have been pretty lulzy itself. Losing the battle would be even lulzier, though. I wonder if its possible.
Lets see...you could have Khimari self destruct and remove 1 character from the battle permanently. Wonder if Auto-Life would work if you made the other 2 pt members zombies....Hmmm...This requires further testing.
There are a lot of good FF songs. I'd say that dreadful battle deserves a high place on this list, yet I don't even see it...and yet it's still a good collection of songs.
I don't like this theme at all... the only one this high on the list that I completely don't like (only thing I do like is it's complexity) :(
I am going to state (though it's already in the comment) that though Uematsu was the main composer, this particular one was made by Hamauzu :P the only way Uematsu would of been involved in this was for him to approve of the composition (being Lead Composer n' all.)
Good pick, not too long ago this was my favorite song of all time. Now I prefer The Darkness of Eternity/ Dark Messenger (whatever you prefer calling it), and The Battle for Freedom from XII. But this is still an epic song.
true, i consider jecht (braska's final aeon) more of the final boss than yu yevon. against yu yevon you don't even have to worry about dying. a zombie attack and a couple of phoenix downs and he's done.
but once when I was listening to this music I got a call on the phone informing me that my dear grandfather had passed away. Somehow after that event for some time that music kept ringing in my head each time that I was thinking about that event and made me hate that music a bit despite its awesomeness.
Hey, did I bring up one winged angel? No. This is a good piece of music, but on a list of top 100, imo, it's nothing special, and I'm surprised it ranked so high. Now if you notice, I also commented on the next video, for the number 1 song, which I consider much much better. This has nothing to do with one winged angel prejudice, so stop being paranoid and suspecting that whenever someone disagrees with you.
You make it sound like an algorithm you can come to close to perfecting without actually doing it. Oi...when will youtubers learn their comments often do less to make a point?
Nobuo Uematsu composed a minimal amount of songs on the FF X OST by himself; most of the greatest songs were composed by Masashi Hamauzu. Unfortunately, although Nobuo has left a legacy of great game music, he is beginning to lose his touch. I would rather Masashi's style anyway, it's more interesting.
I wouldn't sy it's the greatest of all time because ya know some game could definitly get better eventually. but this is a marvelous game in so many ways.
Yeah, the strategy guide doesn't even consider it the final boss fight. But people don't generally care because your characters become so powerful before the point (if you choose to do ANY of the sidequests) that it's never challenging.
If you realize and understand what the significance behind this battle is, and what it's meant to symbolize, you'll also realize it's one of the most epic final bosses ever.
I believe Yu Yevon's form of a small insect is meant to symbolize that if Spira had attempted to break free from the customs and traditions it followed, they'd have realized that it would have been easy to defeat Sin for good if only they had actually tried. If you understand what I mean? I also think it's meant to be ironic that such a 'terrifying' beast was a mere insect... and this too contributes to my previous point above.
Interesting way of putting it. I had always assumed yu yevon was taking form of a tick (to elaborate on the bug form) that was draining away the life force and ability to be happy for spirans. Like a petty tyrant hidden in a vast castle(sin) which was only created out of a sick paranoid induced need to be seperate and stronger than all of these filthy people he used to protect. I'm guessing the great massacre of zanarkand no thanks to bevelle started this behavioral pattern, non?
I think you've hit the nail on the head, and that it was supposed to mean that the hardest part of doing something is sometimes to start it. Another possibility is that after all those years of transferring hosts his physical form detoriated to shit.
u do have a good music taste talking about rpg games, but sry for saying this but im not with you when it comes to final fantasy battle themes. would for sure consider the last battle or Dancing mad from FF VI the best battle or maybe overall song from the FF series. Thou good list and props for making it
Well, most players are so powerful when they actually get to him that even the battle before it, Braska's Final Aeon, is a cinch. It's like the final story battles are only difficult if the player just went straight to them.
This is was an awesome final battle song and very different, all the other FF final battles were fast moving and energetic (Most of the time) not to say this wasn't either but it's a very different choice of instruments, making it seem more creepy and weird, but that's what made it awesome.
And FFX was one of Square's greatest, awesome story, complex characters, good voice actors, and one hell of a plot twist near the end, i honestly loved it and this song too. HIRE WHOEVER DID AURON AGAIN!!
This was a hard battle for me. I was powerful to the highest, but it hurt so much destroying the things I had come to love. It also made me cry. It was the same in part two with the dark aeons. This was the most emotional game I had ever played besides Legacy of Kain: Defiance.
Actually, I agree with Robotzrus, bosses which present an emotional dilemma are much better bosses than these odd bosses that just pop up and decide they want to kill you.
pretty much every final fantasy's final bosses were not the hardest, because this allows catering towards casual gamers who wanted to simply complete the storyline.
the side quests and hidden bosses are for the people who wanted a challenge...penance is the true final boss of this game.
Yeah, I devoted an entire Saturday morning to trying over and over against Omega before finally winning. And all you really get for it is bragging rights.
Speaking of bragging rights, I did it without invincibility or buffs of any kind :)
for omega i dont remember which G.F had the ability command sentry or guard something like that i dont remember. omega follows a pattern after meggido flame use x-potion on the character that has sentry and make him use it. meanwhile the other character hit omega with their limits. when terra break comes the other 2 charcters will die but the char with sentry will only receive 0-10 damage. revive with phoenix pinion, heal the char that has sentry(continues)
so that he survives an incoming meggido flame, the other 2 will die, quickly x-potion-sentry- terra break-phoenix pinion repeat. the only attack that has to worry you is light pillar, and ultima meteor if you have low Mdef.
well i want to credit ff 4 for the best evil character, an evil clown who wants to take over the world, with unrelenting cruelty who turns himself into a demi-god. Kudos to Kafka. X's final boss came out of nowhere for me, but ff XII had a fitting final boss, a power hungry nobel with the aid of an eccelestial being.
I didn't even have the willpower to grind myself through a game which was nothing like a Final Fantasy so IMO, any last boss is better than FFXII's pile of crap.
I think the Jecht battle fits here better, but that's just me.

u do have a good music taste talking about rpg games, but sry for saying this but im not with you when it comes to final fantasy battle themes. would for sure consider the last battle or Dancing mad from FF VI the best battle or maybe overall song from the FF series. Thou good list and props for making it

I don't know if it's fitting that Yu Yevon was so weak or just more of a let down.
SCPAlerts 2 years ago
Well, most players are so powerful when they actually get to him that even the battle before it, Braska's Final Aeon, is a cinch. It's like the final story battles are only difficult if the player just went straight to them.
riotsword 2 years ago
The true final boss was the Final Aeon since you were invulnerable during the Yu Yevon fight.

Vegnagun is the final boss of FFX-2.

I feel like seymour's theme would have been a better choice but this isn't bad.

I'm so excited Hamauzu is doing the work for FF13. The soundtrack is going to be amazing. Just check out the Sigma Harmonics OST.~

HIRE WHOEVER DID AURON AGAIN!!

this one really deserves the spot. Awesome song! and hard as shit to play on piano, not because of the notes or chords but because its as 192bpm
zepiroca1313 2 years ago
The syncopated blasts, the frantic melody, and the stressed harmonics really makes a perfect boss battle song. Epic song.

This was a hard battle for me. I was powerful to the highest, but it hurt so much destroying the things I had come to love. It also made me cry. It was the same in part two with the dark aeons. This was the most emotional game I had ever played besides Legacy of Kain: Defiance.
MellyVg257 3 years ago
Although it has it moments this one just doesn't do it for me. For some reason the music sounds like a sugared up kid slamming on the keyboard.

ff10 final boss was a bitch to fight if you were under leveled like me and he keep healing himself which was annoying

your a cool guy

Actually, I agree with Robotzrus, bosses which present an emotional dilemma are much better bosses than these odd bosses that just pop up and decide they want to kill you.

The Final Battle was painfully easy, but nevertheless, FFX is definitely one of my favorite games. =)
Kairixriku 3 years ago 2
pretty much every final fantasy's final bosses were not the hardest, because this allows catering towards casual gamers who wanted to simply complete the storyline.
the side quests and hidden bosses are for the people who wanted a challenge...penance is the true final boss of this game.
smallpenis1 2 years ago
i though ff8 ending bosses were pretty tough
viewer1112 2 years ago
yeah, but final fantasy 8 also had omega weapon in it, which was much harder than the final boss.
smallpenis1 2 years ago
impossible for me lol
viewer1112 2 years ago
Is not really hard if you know how, and your character is fully equip with the correct GF and all =)
And make sure each atk you make is 9999 ;)
Y0uWinY 2 years ago
Yeah, I devoted an entire Saturday morning to trying over and over against Omega before finally winning. And all you really get for it is bragging rights.
Speaking of bragging rights, I did it without invincibility or buffs of any kind :)
Phoenix had to save me, though :(
theleadingman08 2 years ago
for omega i dont remember which G.F had the ability command sentry or guard something like that i dont remember. omega follows a pattern after meggido flame use x-potion on the character that has sentry and make him use it. meanwhile the other character hit omega with their limits. when terra break comes the other 2 charcters will die but the char with sentry will only receive 0-10 damage. revive with phoenix pinion, heal the char that has sentry(continues)
sebasdiabloo 2 years ago
so that he survives an incoming meggido flame, the other 2 will die, quickly x-potion-sentry- terra break-phoenix pinion repeat. the only attack that has to worry you is light pillar, and ultima meteor if you have low Mdef.
sebasdiabloo 2 years ago
lol, yiazmat... He makes me want to die...

My buddy had that game down to a science. He beat omega weapon in 20 minutes. I never came close to beating him.
HAAST1224 2 years ago
with the defend command from minotaurs and eden, as well as squalls lionheart, the battle could be won fairly easily.
OceanAndSilence 2 years ago
Omega Weapon is extremely easy. Go beat up Penance in 20 minutes.

well i want to credit ff 4 for the best evil character, an evil clown who wants to take over the world, with unrelenting cruelty who turns himself into a demi-god. Kudos to Kafka. X's final boss came out of nowhere for me, but ff XII had a fitting final boss, a power hungry nobel with the aid of an eccelestial being.
stevenharris19901990 3 years ago
I didn't even have the willpower to grind myself through a game which was nothing like a Final Fantasy so IMO, any last boss is better than FFXII's pile of crap.
