I think they invented (and re-invented) almost every single style of modern music with just this one single song. An amazing effort and definitely among my all-time favourites.
recently discovered this one. it's an unbelievable track. it contains everything I like in music: synth-pop, a post-punkish sax, signs of house & techno, shades of ebm and industrial, at the same time a more soulful part with a funky bass, plus female spoken words and claudia brücken! wow!
@xraycortina: They re-recorded different takes of certain tracks depending on which ASW pressing, but lyrics were sung the same on all. There were no multiple versions based on language. There was no Propaganda counterpart to Kraftwerk's "Pocket Calculator", which was performed in at least three languages.
@parachuteclubbed Thanks for the info, buddy. It's a bit disappointing when non-British bands choose to sing in English, but at least they'll sell more records, which is probably the point.
one box for optimism forget the world, take this break and dance the drums are stained with blood don't look at this disaster if you want my advice, take this break and dance sweet secret sense of sin sweet secret sense of rhythm sweet secret sense of sin sweet secret sense of rhythm if your pure emotionsich fuerchte keine Einsamkeit provoke these frozen faces es gibt keine Warmherzigkeit
hi. i found this video by searching for "synthpop" and saxophone. i just posted a video of a song that i've been trying to ID for seventeen years now. it's actually series of two songs (i think) that's in the general synth-pop genre but with some sax parts. can you help me out? youtube won't let me post the link in here...but look at my videos; it's my latest one.
The saxophonist on this tune is none other than foxy Mr. Simon Lloyd of legendary Australian band Icehouse. Watch my Icehouse playlist for more of his work!
Okay, along side Kraftwurk, Propaganda will go down as one of the leading "Techno" bands out of Germany... way before techno was called "Techno"! I can remember listening to how that funky ass horn sounded blasting out my friends car speakers. Way back then everyone in Detroit was listening to Rap MTV and hear we come playing shit from Germany!
true!, but kraftwerk called it techno in 1986, in fact perhaps earlier - i have a demo of music non stop (feat technopop in the lyrics) which may be as early '83. not that i could really care, i have no love of 90s or modern 'techno'

Marius Pop

Au inghetat crangurile ingerilor adormiti ,
in faclii isi uitasera amintirea si au palit
paralele de gand fosnesc in umbra lor argintie

Mmmh, never heard this Version before...
