  • John was shot in the chest.

  • luckily Lennon was shot in the face so he didn't have to see this

  • @MetPoliceFarce you spelled genocide wrong stupid

  • John Lennon would rather eat his own head than to promote nike sweatshop genicide

  • Awesome commercial - how IRONIC is this song being used to promote Nike ???

  • nike + john lennon = god's commercial

  • lennon would not approve of the sweatshops

  • Correction 1992 Ya'll

  • Nike, John Lennon, MJ & Scottie,In Their Primes. AWESUM!!!

  • there are more people who play sports and celebrate the culture of amateur and pro sports than minority mass produced 'hip hop'. Adidas FAILED because they only positioned their brand in a select area. Nike made running 'available' for the masses....then got Michael Jordan to save their company.

  • @bluefox9er adidas made the hip hop for everyone

  • @mohammeds1 actually, adidas made sneakers. worn by hip hop people. I can;t call them musicians adidas didn't make hip hop.

  • @bluefox9er They might not be musicians but they sure can dance!

  • LSD and ringo star ftw

  • I enjoyed making this commercial. What a blast.

  • 0:12 - GODS

  • Lennon must look back with pride that his great work went to selling trainers. Sell out!!

  • just to see MJ and Pip, stretching was awesome!!, then to see MJ with the kids and some guy doing the jumpman logo, those were great commercials...

  • Most of Nike's most memorable commercials came from the late 80s-early 90s. They were doing that Coke thing by getting into peoples minds and truly inspiring them through slogans and advertising. They were transcending beyond other athletic companies. Adidas had momentum and dropped the ball by not pushing their product through Hip-Hop in the 80s. By marketing thru Hip-Hop, it would have created a tangent market that could have touched the everyday man in ways an athelete never could.

  • @phoneke...I agree 100%

  • i work in advertising and everytime i wonder what the hell i'm doing, i look at this commercial.

  • Nike, John Lennon, MJ & Scottie,In Their Primes. AWESUM!!!

  • Michael Prieve bad ass art direction!!

Had always seen the version with the type - the international/symbols version I'd heard about but never seen! Great. Pittman Hensley on the type? Yes? And Fincher behind the camera! Great stuff - shots that hold up twenty years later - poetic and honest and human. W+K at its very best -

  • ive been tryin to find this ad for ages and ages love the song i remember it on a vhs i was only 2 if this ad was 1993

  • Wow the Beatles Nike commercial really pissed me off, and this one should too, but... it's... fucking awesome. :/

  • HOW LOOOONG HAS NIKE BEEN MAKING EXCELLET COMMERCIALS!!!!!!!! This was the early ninties. The energy, editing, photography, graphics and MY GOODNESS the music of the great John Lennon - It was THIS COMMERCIAL that made me want to find out as a teenager who made this song!!! It almost cheapens to call it a commercial - it is truly art. Nike has kept that standard until today. Big companies do what big companies do, but on this end - it is fantastic.

  • THis Commercial wuz directed by DAVID FINCHER the guy who did Alien 3 and The Social Network

  • @Finnstudios And Se7en, The Game and Fight Club, to name a few of his lesser movies LOL. Brilliant movies from a more than brilliant director.

  • @kingzxcvbnm1 use wikipedia more

  • This commercial also was aired here in Brazil.

Este comercial também foi veiculado aqui no Brasil.

  • The 90's brother :D

  • Thanks... Remember this and it got my attention as a kid.

  • John would be Happy

  • Why can't they play commercials like this these days. It seems like every one tries the same thing.

  • i remember this commercial from 1991, wow... thank you for putting this up, it brought back great memories...

  • It was thanks to this commercial, That Instant Karma reached number 1 again in the year 1992.

  • Shoes

  • Eu tenho 30 anos e este comercial é um dos melhores da minha epóca

  • This was the first ad I remember that made me look up from whatever I was doing (ignoring the TV because it was 'commercial time') and watch and I felt INSPIRED.

I remember my mother's reaction, after the first time we both saw the ad, "What? That ad didn't make any sense!" ... I guess because there were no words, no one trying to 'sell' you anything.

    But I 'got' it. It's a classic.

  • was this directed by David Fincher?

  • Yes!

  • Nike wanted to use Revolution for the commercial, yoko let them, but paul and ringo didnt want them to. So, yoko let them use instant karma.

  • I knew Michael Jackson owned the Beatles publishing, but John Lennon's solo work as well?

  • FUCK YOKO ONO!!

  • 1993 yall

  • I love when a company uses a socialist's song to promote a product.

  • lick my balls twat!

  • Very mature, moron.

  • as mature as yours, you fucktard. Keep your mouth shut if you don't like it

  • I just called you out douche.

Why don't you evaluate first what's coming out of your mouth before you say it.

  • "called me out"? Are you that gay in real life? First off fatty, what did i say that was wrong? John Lennon was a socialist. Nike is a huge corporation. I made note of the irony of the two being used together. You're the idiot that made an ignorant comment about country videos. Go put your sweat pants on and watch some anime you fat super-suck-on-seven. what fuckin' idiots I have to deal with!!!!!

  • You're 37 and acting like a 12 year old. Look at you getting all worked up. You're an absolute ass who watches cooking videos and old country music showcases. Think you're above me? Shut your stupid face.

  • worked up, no.

    above you.....no.

You started by commenting on one of my comments. A comment that had nothing to do with my point. Does baby feel like he has to have the last word. ahhhh how poor baby must have been neglected.

  • Here's what confuses me about pussies like you. You make some stupid comment in response to mine, which has been the only actual point you've made in this entire chain. Then, you sit back and "try" to criticize my responses to yours. Well, I'm growing tired of you. Here's the deal. Your approval is dead bottom on my list of needs.

  • Being called stupid, moron, douche, immature or any of the other pansy retorts from you are actually compliments. As long as the fat kids like you hiding behind your keyboard don't like me, I know I'm OK. You win, I truely have better things to do with my life then these lovely back and forths that you've had the pleasure of having.

  • I just wanna say: give peace a chance ;)

  • Wow, i was just kidding about you being gay, but then I checked out your videos..... You really do suck cock. Sorry, I meant it as a put down.

  • No one above the age of 17 uses Gay as a put down.

How old are you again? Pushing 40 are ya?

  • Hahahahahah, Luis, your a sad fat boy that watch cartoons and ghost busters. You try to "call me out" by making a stupid comment about about country music. I still don't understand your point. Then you block replies on you other video....you're very sad.

  • Bastards. John's probably shaking his head... wherever he is...

  • I liked this commercial as a kid, BUT I agree with you; John is NOT liking this...

  • Directed by David Fincher (fight club, se7en etc)

  • W&K actually got the music rights for this spot from michael jackson, who at the time owned the rights. after it went to air, yoko ono made a direct call to (from what i have heard either) phil knight/ W&K and asked that it please be pulled, as it was not in the spirit of john lennon to have his work used for commercial purposes. they pulled the spot. class move on the behalf of nike.

  • i loved this commercial back in the day.

  • You're absolutely right!

  • I loved Pip and MJ stretching. They don't make basketball like that anymore!!!

  • erinnert mich an meine kindheit!!!! NIKE RULEZ

  • Iremember!

  • This add was really effective i rember it from when i was like 7 or 8 :O cant beleive i found it
