I bet this is unintentional. But The Cure does have many songs that have orchestrations which are looped backwards just for the purpose of wanting you to think it's something "satanic". Pornography is a brilliant example.

Back in the 70's kids would mess around with their turn tables playing records backwards...just for kicks to hear a "secret" message or some "satanic" message. It's commonly called back-masking. Just to mention... this is nothing new. The Beatles, and others commonly did this. Listen closely on this song and you will pick up on it. I don't know if The Cure did this intentionally or not.
