If you enjoyed this you will probably get alot out of the book "Smoking In Bed, Conversations With Bruce Robinson" by Alistair Owen. I just finished reading it, and it's a great insight into the realities of screenwriting and film-making. An entertaining read.

He was far worse. Check it out on the fan forums. He not only tried to close the film down but then actually embezzled Handmade films profits from under the noses of George Harrison and Ringo Starr resulting in the companys collapse. Bruce effectively earns fuckall from W&Is continuing success because the rights are owned by another company. I hope O'Brien reads this and tries to sue me. I lie awake sometimes thinking of what I would do to the terrible c*nt

Still a very sexy, cool, intelligent man. I love his determination to do things his way, and thank god he did, Withnail and I is british film making at its very best, - no thanks to the suits. It just goes to show that film making should be left to the artists, as they are usually the only ones who know what they are doing, and I sympathise with the inhaler and inhalator Bruce - I have both at the moment too!

The Ruby Wax thing was a half hour 'dinner party' with 2 other guests, but BR just took over, and got progressively drunk. He talked about getting freaked out by some chap in a gorilla costume following him at night in Los Angeles, amongst other ridiculous, and possibly made-up, anecdotes!
