@WizardLock Dude, are you done ranting? Okay, now go fuck yourself for insulting one of the greatest punk rock bands ever. They don't "rip off" anybody. Some songs are just bound to sound similar.
@WizardLock Every one of their songs? Tell me, how many of their songs have you heard? Most of their stuff is very original. And I didn't say the greatest, I said one of the greatest, there's a difference. And the ones they have that sound similar to other songs are not rip offs. They are not that similar. And bands do this all the time. Stairway to Heaven sounds very similar to a song by the band Spirit. Are you gonna call Led Zeppelin a "shitty thieving band" too?
@WizardLock I don't hear the alleged similarities for most of these. The only one that made any sense was Half-Truism sounding like Helena. But that was just the chorus. Other than that, their songs sound pretty original to me. You can go on believing they're a shitty rip-off band if you want. Oh, and keep ignoring the fact that plenty of bands have ripped off The Offspring. You're entitled to your extremely misguided opinion.
most of these comparisons are really crappy & there's no similarities to go off of. The you're gonna go far kid/panic at the disco was fairly accurate and the rise and fall to green day american idiot was accurate. other than that all that shit is completely random. Like trust in you compared to smash? those riffs are nothing like each other at all. What you should have compared trust in you to is the chorus of "all i want". cuz those are extremely similar
Love the offspring but I have to agree with this... RAFRAG had no originality at all and was my least favorite album because of that. Not to mention the albums name is a lot like Echoes Silence Patience and Grace by the Foos, oh and that new song.. sounds exactly like Times Like These by the Foo Fighters.. come on guys wheres the originality you had on the other albums?
hahahaha.....you guys should take a look at TSOL, DI and the Vandals coz these are the bands that the offspring really do rip off....don't forget, they have their roots in the californian punk scene
you forgot to mention that "Helena" is also the name of a great Misfits song. and if you look really closely youll see that every guy in every band is all wearing shoes. coincidence? me thinks not.
of course they copy other stuff , but to show that that band is awesome.... the offspring copied the adolescents with the name ... theyve used some of the adolescents lyrics in there lyrics ... It goes on and on but rip off ? No . Influenced ? Yes.
this one of the biggest insults to offpsring! it is impossible that every single song sounds uniquely. songs do sound similar sometimes. LIVE WITH IT! and some of the songs shown here were released by the offspring before the other band released their similar song. to conclude, this video is quite a joke.
no offense to the uploader though, yes i read the description;)
Well, at least the ones among us with ears know that just because songs sound alike (which happens all the time, similar scales and such) doesn't mean it's plagiarized. Offspring themselves said that Why Don't You Get a Job was a tribute to Ob La Di, and that's the closest they ever came to plagiarizing. The ONE similarity might be Smash and Trust in you because of the same key and the fact that they go into gallop picking half way through, but they do that on many of their songs.
you re funny man... they have so many original songs most of those bands dont even compare. PS offspring cannot rip off themselves. Ps every Green Day song sounds the same
You non-musical people do realize chord sequences are used over and over and over again by different bands, the chords help you write good melodies for you to sing along too, i seriously doubt the offspring has ripped off the likes of panic at the disco and daft punk!
How do you not have "Walla Walla" on there? It a complete ripoff of the Vandals' "Too Much Drama". You should stop listening to so much mainstream garbage and this list would grow exponentially. The Offspring have always been notorious for ripping off other bands. They have even used their own riffs in multiple songs. Go back and listen to "Dirty Magic".
So what if they have songs that are similar. Everyband on the face of the earth has used the chord progression "I-V-VI-IV". Every Blink-182 song has almost the same chord progression. My point being, WHO THE FUCK CARES! JUST ENJOY THE FUCKING MUSIC!
Hahahahaha panic at the disco? come on the guys from the offspring doesn't even know that exist a band called panic at the disco, and The Offspring Rips off the offspring? hahaha come on you're fucking kidding me

The Offspring Ripped Off Panic At The Disco? haha come on i think that teh guys from the offspring doesn't even know that a band called panic at the disco exist. Come on!
the offspring doesnt rip off other bands some of the songs you played are from before the ones you think ther riping and if anything lady gaga ripped off the offspring for the begining of bad romance :P it sounds alot like self esteem
heey dude...compare the song "walla walla" from the offspring with the song "too much drama" by the vandals!!!!! trust me its the fuckin same!!!!!!!!!!!
wow fail on round 3 they somehow rip off them selfs i guess chuck berry ac/dc and more rip off them selfs too because they play the same sound of another song they did.
I'm sick of hearing about this, the offspring ripped off the popular bands on that album on purpouse cus they were pissed that those bands were being called real punk. It was an inteneded slap in the face to the posers.
@ryanthepunk2002 Green Day is still punk. It's not a crime to write a song that honors your dead father (Wake Me Up When September Ends), it's not a crime to write a rtock opera (American Idiot).
@rainbownerd13 Green Day hasnt been real punk since Insomniac. read up on Green Day's history, listen to all the albums, you'll see what I mean. Don't get me wrong, they are an awsome band and make great music, but they are not punk, not anymore.

This comment has received too many negative votesshow
There are two horrible rip offs that for some reason you did not list, that are way worse than any of these you put. Not just a guitar riff, whole parts sound the same. The song she's got issues is a blatant rip off guitar wise of the song hold on loosely. Secondly the song why don't you get a job is a blatant rip off guitar and vocal wise of the beatles "Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da." those two show how unoriginal this untalented band is.
@needled39 well i agree with ob-la-di ob-la-da but she got issues sounds nothing like hold on loosely... the rif is not the same... and btw offspring is not untalented... they have so many fuckin great songs that they dont even need those ones to be one of the best.. and if you are an offspring hater go listen to green day m8..
@needled39 I'm not really a fan of The Offspring but seriously - there aren't very much talented bands doing this kind of music, that is mainly generated by powerchords. The description "untalented band" fits for at least 95% bands of this style. It's the singer's voice that decides whether a band is good (and maybe popular) or not. Just look at blink-18, nearly nobody knows their older albums although their riffs are partly VERY hard. Only the newer ones aer popular - because he learned singing
@needled39 i disagree that 2 songs prove how unoriginal and untalented this band is. plus, songs have similarities all the time. There are 4 chords that are present in a ton of songs, of all genres.
@themedia regardless of whether or not you think they made something better, it's still ripping them off. This guy gave a bunch of lame examples though, I will post two better ones than any of these...
Are also songs like the input = ( stuff is messed up - Disposable Teens MARILYN MANSON ) y eso que THE OFFSPRING es una de mis bandas favoritas de todas maneras no lo cambio
The only band The Offspring rip off are themselves. Most of their songs sound the same. For example, Self Esteem and You're Gonna Go Far Kid are the same chords. And The Kids Aren't Alright and Can't Repeat mash up perfectly (same chord progression, time verses begin, time choruses begin, etc.) I like the Offspring, but they're one of the most unoriginal bands in the mainstream today, just like Nickelback and Linkin Park.
All music will share similarities to other songs. That doesn't mean rip-off. Hell, I could argue half of Green Day's library to be rip offs as well. Hell, the solo off of 21 Guns follows the theme song to Full House note for note. Doesn't mean that Green Day considers Miller-Boyett productions as a musical influence. Artists draw inspiration from everywhere, and with so much out there now its hard for things not to sound too similar.
Almost every round that I mention are mere coincidence, the only song that was to rip Why Do not You Get A Job?, That the original song was by The Beatles
Hammerhead and rise and fall do sound like they copy. but who cares really its about enjoying the music not who copy who if that was true there would be like no bands around. so people who are gonna hate on the offspring or any other band shut up no one cares just listen to the music and relax
Personally, "A Lot Like Me" always reminded me of Coldplay, but yeah, they sound a lot alike, but I highly doubt they were copying anyone, I think they made "Why Don't You Get A Job?" sound like "Ob-La-Di Ob-La-Da" as a joke, and I think Dexter was also getting frustrated because before the album came out, it was getting compared to American Idiot. I'm not against The Offspring, by the way, or Green Day, they're my two favorite bands.
lawl some of them songs r newer than offspring.. and... ofcorse tunes will sound similar in punk music... dumbass its the same with rap..and ur voice natural gos with the flow with lyrics..
kristy, are you doing okay- the offspring = macy's day parade - green day they don't sound that much alike at first but believe me, it's a rip off hahah
ya know, if offspring ripped off american idiot, that means they ripped off a rip off. american idiot is a rip off of some song by this korean dude. good lord, it seems like no bands can be original anymore D: what has the world come to!?
oh c'mon guys, punk/rock is actually old genre of music, since then so many bands was created, and way more songs, so nowadays it's VERY hard to do something not similiar to any other songs, because as I said MANY SONGS was already created that there always will be something similiar and u won't even now about it... Don't get me wrong, I love this kind of music but face reality people, this river is almost dry, topic is overused that's why people are looking for ideas innew genreslike techno etc
You're gonna go far kid se parece un poco en el ritmo de la voz pero tambien ese ritmo de voz esta en la cancion Atlantis to Intezone de Klaxons.
The Offspring ya se ha inspirado en canciones antiguas suyas para crear otras y eso sucedio con las canciones Lightning Rod que se inspiro en el PUENTE de Get It Right,Come Out Swinging con el estilo de Genocide, etc.
Hammerhead se parece PERO ese ritmo ya lo habia creado The Offspring en 1992 en la cancion Take It Like A Man.(Nirvana-Stay Away).
its like this: if your in math class and your tlold to put the question into your own words, its not like your ripping off the other student , Its called influencing not ripping off. There is always gonna be two songs that sound like each , Always
1. Like ALL punk music, they use the same power chords, and so of course there are going to be similarities; however, that does not mean they copied them.
2. Majority of these songs you chose were from their new album, sooooo who cares that album sucked.
dont forget where they ripped off the beatles ob-la-di-ob-la-da for Why dont you get a job, and the phrasing of "rise and fall rage and grace" is worded a lot like Foo Fighters Echoes Silence Patience And Grace.
Most of these are recent, so obviously the riff or chorus or something is gonna sound like a past song. THese guys are my favorite band and i know that atleast one or two songs were copies but the others were just simple chords that just sound good and matched with others.
I thought "Your going to go far kid" sounded more like Aqua's "Butterfly..."
Also I noticed two other similarites in "Hammerhead" The verse from Hammerhead sounds like Motor Head's "Ace Of Spade" and the chorus from Hammerhead sounds like Sum 41's "No Brains".
(Note: I don't hate the Offspring. I like them as well)
the song hanmerhead sounds closer to metallicas phantom lord which was recorded in 1983. also in hammerhead at the 2:30 min mark they ripp of heavily from the doors song hello, i love you.
the thing we must admit about this album is that it's very different from the previous ones, they evolve the same way as Green Day, not so punk anymore but still good
every band rips off others in some way, its how music evolves. If you really wanna hear an offspring rip off, listen to "Why don't you get a job" and then the beatles "ob la di". Way too close.
offspring compared to some young boygroup-lookin "clockwork orange-dressed up kids....my heart breaks in that minute!
i bet offspring didnt even know half of the songs they are compared with!
in my band its the same, we find a riff which sounds awesome...and next time we play it, sb is like: "oh i know that song, you covered that!" ....i think nearly every idea appeared to be used in the music buisniss....its really really rare to find sth unique!
You did'nt even chose they're biggest rip off of them all ob-la-di- by the beatles!! How the fuck were the Murphy's opening for these corporate pieces of shit anyway.
you cant compare the offspring to other bands. sure there are some similarities in punk they will always be there. there is no other band like the offspring.
@kelsibuck well Daft Punk isnt punk but I get your point but still it shouldn't have the same exact beat that if your tapping along to the beat of two diff bands that your fingers go the same way.
Interesting. I don't think anyone rips offs anyone on purpose. There are so many great artists out there that some one will probably sound alike. Just like any other art, it's hard to be original with such an eclectic culture.
FAIL. Like, total and utter fail. You know nothing of music, and good singers. Go home. I never usually reply to jokers on youtube like this...but I just could not ignore such heresy.
in "4" the only similarity is the strum pattern, and same with fix you. those were the only similarities. just because something is sung a certain way doesnt mean it is a rip
This was a waste of my time to watch. Most of those songs sound nothing like the originals. I see similarities in some, but not a rip off. You could play this game with any band.
The Helena one really isn't that similar if you know anything about music. Fix You is different than September because Fix You is in E and September is in C. The Hammerhead ripoff is the most ridiculous thing I've heard. They don't even come close to comparing. The fact that someone went that far out of the way to find a similarity is just ridiculous. I wrote a song and when the new album came out it turned out to sound exactly like Trust in You. I made it before the album. Did I rip it off?
It's not ripping off...These musical styles are completely different. A Lot Like Me sounded nothing like that Daft Punk song and YGGFK sounded nothing like Panic...Those are just retarded. Now granted, Trust in You is a bit similar to Smash but it's their own song. There are distinct differences though. Rise and Fall is similar to American Idiot. I will definitely admit to that, but I guarantee you they weren't trying to rip it because that would be way too obvious.
What band copies Offspring?
None.

@needled39 they sound alike but they're not the same, not the same melody, not the same scale.
Euphoria640 1 year ago
@needled39 Dexter Holland admitted it was inspired by that song, it's a homage.
Radiscool1 1 year ago
@needled39 well i agree with ob-la-di ob-la-da but she got issues sounds nothing like hold on loosely... the rif is not the same... and btw offspring is not untalented... they have so many fuckin great songs that they dont even need those ones to be one of the best.. and if you are an offspring hater go listen to green day m8..
6937201113 9 months ago
@needled39 I'm not really a fan of The Offspring but seriously - there aren't very much talented bands doing this kind of music, that is mainly generated by powerchords. The description "untalented band" fits for at least 95% bands of this style. It's the singer's voice that decides whether a band is good (and maybe popular) or not. Just look at blink-18, nearly nobody knows their older albums although their riffs are partly VERY hard. Only the newer ones aer popular - because he learned singing

@needled39 Sorry for the mistakes *are; *blink-182
MrPlmgrn 6 months ago
@needled39 i disagree that 2 songs prove how unoriginal and untalented this band is. plus, songs have similarities all the time. There are 4 chords that are present in a ton of songs, of all genres.

Don't forget that Green Day's American Idiot was a rip-off of "Doublewhiskeycokenoice" by Dillinger Four. Listen to that one.

The Offspring doesn't rip-off anyone.. they make music better!
All the bands you say they "rip-off" suck ass!
themedia 1 year ago
@themedia regardless of whether or not you think they made something better, it's still ripping them off. This guy gave a bunch of lame examples though, I will post two better ones than any of these...

Are also songs like the input = ( stuff is messed up - Disposable Teens MARILYN MANSON ) y eso que THE OFFSPRING es una de mis bandas favoritas de todas maneras no lo cambio
ivanjhb 1 year ago
the Rise and Fall song that they "stole" from Green Day, Green Day stole it from Dillinger Four's Doublewhiskeycokenoice
TheDean0001 1 year ago
The only band The Offspring rip off are themselves. Most of their songs sound the same. For example, Self Esteem and You're Gonna Go Far Kid are the same chords. And The Kids Aren't Alright and Can't Repeat mash up perfectly (same chord progression, time verses begin, time choruses begin, etc.) I like the Offspring, but they're one of the most unoriginal bands in the mainstream today, just like Nickelback and Linkin Park.
dfbhcf 1 year ago
All music will share similarities to other songs. That doesn't mean rip-off. Hell, I could argue half of Green Day's library to be rip offs as well. Hell, the solo off of 21 Guns follows the theme song to Full House note for note. Doesn't mean that Green Day considers Miller-Boyett productions as a musical influence. Artists draw inspiration from everywhere, and with so much out there now its hard for things not to sound too similar.
bongodude0017 1 year ago
The Offspring rip The Offspring? LOL!!

SkarENTerprises 1 year ago
Personally, "A Lot Like Me" always reminded me of Coldplay, but yeah, they sound a lot alike, but I highly doubt they were copying anyone, I think they made "Why Don't You Get A Job?" sound like "Ob-La-Di Ob-La-Da" as a joke, and I think Dexter was also getting frustrated because before the album came out, it was getting compared to American Idiot. I'm not against The Offspring, by the way, or Green Day, they're my two favorite bands.

K4800M3R5 1 year ago
oh c'mon guys, punk/rock is actually old genre of music, since then so many bands was created, and way more songs, so nowadays it's VERY hard to do something not similiar to any other songs, because as I said MANY SONGS was already created that there always will be something similiar and u won't even now about it... Don't get me wrong, I love this kind of music but face reality people, this river is almost dry, topic is overused that's why people are looking for ideas innew genreslike techno etc

They don't sound the same, only in American Idiot with Rise and Fall I found a similarity.
However Daft Punk is the only decent House's group in the world
DragonXxDark 1 year ago 2
You're gonna go far kid se parece un poco en el ritmo de la voz pero tambien ese ritmo de voz esta en la cancion Atlantis to Intezone de Klaxons.
The Offspring ya se ha inspirado en canciones antiguas suyas para crear otras y eso sucedio con las canciones Lightning Rod que se inspiro en el PUENTE de Get It Right,Come Out Swinging con el estilo de Genocide, etc.
Hammerhead se parece PERO ese ritmo ya lo habia creado The Offspring en 1992 en la cancion Take It Like A Man.(Nirvana-Stay Away).

Round #2 - Kind of Similar
Round #3 - Similar
Round #4 - Really Similar
Round #5 - Really Similar
Round #6 - Not Similar
Round #7 - Really Similar
They seem to be listening to good songs (Most of the ripped off songs were good) and taking the bands idea. Not cool.

villadavid4ever 1 year ago
Honestly... this is terrible.
1. Like ALL punk music, they use the same power chords, and so of course there are going to be similarities; however, that does not mean they copied them.
2. Majority of these songs you chose were from their new album, sooooo who cares that album sucked.
ea451 1 year ago
dont forget where they ripped off the beatles ob-la-di-ob-la-da for Why dont you get a job, and the phrasing of "rise and fall rage and grace" is worded a lot like Foo Fighters Echoes Silence Patience And Grace.
chordface 1 year ago
Most of these are recent, so obviously the riff or chorus or something is gonna sound like a past song. THese guys are my favorite band and i know that atleast one or two songs were copies but the others were just simple chords that just sound good and matched with others.

those songs dont accually sound like the offspring. i can only agree with fix you. its really like the green day

Wow there is a little truth in this.
At the same time though most of these are from the newest album. It's only natural they are kinda ruining out of tunes to make.

Way too close.

i bet offspring didnt even know half of the songs they are compared with!
in my band its the same, we find a riff which sounds awesome...and next time we play it, sb is like: "oh i know that song, you covered that!" ....i think nearly every idea appeared to be used in the music buisniss....its really really rare to find sth unique!
my opinion!

Really though....most punk songs sound alike. A lot of the same chords are used.
kelsibuck 2 years ago 3
@kelsibuck well Daft Punk isnt punk but I get your point but still it shouldn't have the same exact beat that if your tapping along to the beat of two diff bands that your fingers go the same way.
vampiregal16rulz 2 years ago
Interesting. I don't think anyone rips offs anyone on purpose. There are so many great artists out there that some one will probably sound alike. Just like any other art, it's hard to be original with such an eclectic culture.

in "4" the only similarity is the strum pattern, and same with fix you. those were the only similarities. just because something is sung a certain way doesnt mean it is a rip
marcv54 2 years ago
This was a waste of my time to watch. Most of those songs sound nothing like the originals. I see similarities in some, but not a rip off. You could play this game with any band.
markinvail 2 years ago
My god, you're not serious, are you??? Except "3" these songs don't really sound alike
DUKENT 2 years ago
The Helena one really isn't that similar if you know anything about music. Fix You is different than September because Fix You is in E and September is in C. The Hammerhead ripoff is the most ridiculous thing I've heard. They don't even come close to comparing. The fact that someone went that far out of the way to find a similarity is just ridiculous. I wrote a song and when the new album came out it turned out to sound exactly like Trust in You. I made it before the album. Did I rip it off?
Tr1forceProductions 2 years ago
It's not ripping off...These musical styles are completely different. A Lot Like Me sounded nothing like that Daft Punk song and YGGFK sounded nothing like Panic...Those are just retarded. Now granted, Trust in You is a bit similar to Smash but it's their own song. There are distinct differences though. Rise and Fall is similar to American Idiot. I will definitely admit to that, but I guarantee you they weren't trying to rip it because that would be way too obvious.
