  • People. this video does not tell you how good Steve really is. He sound way better than this. Plus, He is the Nicest musician I ever meet at this level of playing if you know what I mean. Great Chops, Great sound, So relax playing + Always in tune... man. oh, did I mention He is a fun guy!? haha... Steve! You da man!

  • hhahahahha. show off!!!

    sick stuff!!!

  • it's actually too high to sound well...

  • These comments are ridiculous. People you have no idea what you are talking about.

Steve Reid tours with the Brian Setzer orchestra and is a first call pro. We are fortunate that he posts here. Please don't comment if you have nothing to comment about. In the mean time, if you play at the trumpet, go practice after you do your pre-algebra.

  • I'll admit that EVERYTHING Steve plays here is amazing.

But what really strikes me to say 'holy shit' is that G# ar 0:12. Such clarity!

  • HOW THE HELL! I just can't believe your sound up there. It is nails brohan.

  • It doesn't even sound like a trumpet that high. Its impressive for us trumpeters, but guess how loud and shrill that must be for a front row of people. ouch.

  • Completely out of tune, especially the last two notes.

  • Wrong. the G# & A were right on pitch.

  • Last two notes are way flat. And those were not G# & A.

  • Check yer ears, pal - they were an A and a G#.

  • Checked, they are A and D. And way flat. I know that some people like high notes, and that they are ignorant to the fact that the sound is terrible and that they are mostly out of tune. I like to point it out to them. I'm more in to music than I am in to ultrasound squeezing without any musical meaning.

  • To be precise, the 3rd note from the end - G# (in tune), then an A (in tune) and ends with a very in tune G#. Anyone who thinks different fails this melodic dictation test. And we're waiting to see & hear a video of you trying to play those notes. It's very easy for jealous people say what you have, a lot different for you to post your own playing. Plus, Steve is doing this just for fun. I'm the guy who posted the original Steve Reid high note video (the one in the stairwell)

  • You must be ignorant. Those other two can never be G#'s. I'll walk it through with you. The 3rd note from the end is an A (checked with trombone --> G). Then he jumps to a D. You suggest that this jump would be just half a tone, or more than an octave, which it is obviously is not. So there you are already wrong. The D starts ok and then turns flat. Then he jumps (not almost an octave, which you suggest) another fifth up to an A again, which is flat as well. Capiche?

  • Dude (or should I say "TIN EARS"?) - how DEAF can you be? The VERY LAST 3 notes he plays are a G#, A and G#. That fact that you use a TROMBONE to check it proves your tin-eared deafness. And they ARE in tune for those pitches. The only low pitch note he plays is the D @:19 into vid (which you've completely ignored, pitch-wise), then he goes up to IN TUNE G#, A & G#. And we're STILL waiting for you to post anything better.

  • You obviously have got no idea what you are talking about. The 3rd note from the end is 1 OCTAVE lower than the last note. He plays 1 note in between, a fifth lower than the last one. So it can NEVER EVER EVER EVER be G#, A, G#. You're obviously too arrogant to just check it, but I would if I were you. It proves that I was right IN THE FIRST PLACE. You are talking complete bullshit.

  • I see the problem. You consider the last note to be three notes, which is pretty weird. It's just an unstable A, which is flat, but it is too high to be a G#. I am talking about the three last DIFFERENT notes, not the unstable, shaky notes. And those REAL LAST TWO notes are flat. It's quite clear who of us is the tonedeaf one... Poor guy.

  • gee...a G#, then an A, then a G#...THREE SEPARATE NOTES, and ALL IN TUNE. Christ, pal, you must be as blind a fucktard as you are deaf fucktard. Let's remember that you used a TROMBONE to check to see what pitches they were, which tells us about how good your pitch is on trombone "duh....lemme move this slidy thing around...I'll find it eventually."

BTW, my "arrogance" is only the perfect pitch that I have, not the "guess what note I'm playing" that you have.

  • What the fuck is your name, anyway? I bet it's Tommy - as in "Deaf, dumb and blind kid..." Bet you play a mean pinball, 'cause you sure as fuck can't play IN TUNE! I have tired with trying to educate a fucktard deaf idiot - go play with yourself & leave the real music to us pros.

  • pizza pizza

  • great stuff!

  • thanks for a "good" recording. guys are always talking trash from only hearing your youtube stuff...which recording qualities aren't always good.

but that was sheer power and verve!

  • i almost walked into that room when you were recording... nice stuff, but i think i heard him go higher.

  • one thing to add: you're the best steve!
