This cruel treatment of animals is shocking. I don't buy anything from KFC. Colonel Chicken should be ashamed! So glad that Proposition 2 passed in California November, 2008. last November. We need to treat all animals humanely, and I hope hope other states (and countries) will adopt similar laws.

i believe that animals do have souls, but that's just my personal belief. but it has been scientifically proven that pigs, chickens, even fish, neurologically DO feel pain. thus, the nebulous question of whether animals have souls or not (which is really a religious issue), doesn't correspond to whether animals feel physical pain.

i believe that god made animals not just for man to eat- in the beginning, yes, we needed to eat meat for nourishment- but we hunted it and killed animals humanely, letting them live a full life in their natural environment before slaughtering them. but now, we in developed countries have more than enough sources for nourishment, and thus there is no excuse for raising animals like commodities, depriving them their basic needs just because we want to eat cheap meat.
