I GREW UP IN THE SOUTH BRONX, I REMEMBER ALL THE JAMS BACK IN THE 70'S. THIS WAS ONE OF MY FAVORITE JAMS TO MIX. I ALWAYS BOUGHT TWO OF EVERY ALBUM. THIS ALBUM HAD PRETTY RAINBOW COLORS IN IT.
@brownievegas LL used this on the original rock the bells.... the female vocal is inspired by the Moments' Gotta Get There.....in the begginning of the song there is a female train conductor...
why are you amazed this is one of the greatest breakbeats of all time...plus the song is dope... There was nothing quite like having the Original rainbow flavor 12 inch Uptown we always called it disco airlines.. Mr.Souls alll day this was and still is hiphop.Definitely one of the cornerstones of where it all began...
I'm from 149th and morris ave the patterson project and we played this song to death especially the break part at the Y on 149th and 7th ave in manhattan.
OMG - I am from Cypress Avenue and 140th in the South Bronx.. lived down the block from Grnadmaster Flash.. he used to teach this Kid from my building called dougie - wee would play cards at flash's house - i remember this so well, the album was swirled with colors - first time i saw Flash practiving at hios house.. WOW.. wayy back!!
I.m from the bronx 189th and creston ave I.S 115 we had the best block parties... the family crew summer 1979 this jam played the break over and over with a live MC.. TBB TBG ... what a time
@MontanoCrew Yo man I lived in the Bronx in those days and used to DJ block parties and go to the street jams, and you are right, the parties on Creston were the best...................girls, girls...........
Man I just love the whole song completly I'm a bboy and Dj I would dance out the whole song including the breakbeat maybe its not how bboys did it back in the days but that whole song is fucken awsome i would just uprock the song.
The break beat of this great jam 4:19 "Ladies and gentleman, welcome aboard disco airlines flight 17.....our captain tells us we'll be flying very high, and oxygen masks will not be necessary".Everyone in NYC in the 70's know those words. It is a legendary break beat.Damn, and it's 30 years old...Holla back all you old school NY hip-hoppers!!
Hell Yeah! Don't get me startedon the basement parties - once that break started it was like a volcano erupting. Everybody hit the floor or cleared it to watch some B-Boys (though we didn't call them that yet). Those were the days-lol
I have a real passion for music such as this so if you have anything you could reccomend for me to check out let me know, cause i'm not old enough to remember it first time round. Cheers.
Thanks for posting this. We loved this in Brooklyn in the late seventies. Like "Good Times" by CHIC this was a must for going back to back on the turntables. Back then we called it "Backspinnin'".
same here ken..ive been looking for this jam.someone told me it was frisco disco, but i didnt listen..my boy sent it to me...this record is only good for 10 seconds...classic breaks and beats!,....thx zen..
I did know that Eastside Connection had released a track called "Frisco Disco", but I have not heard it before. Thanks for posting it! It's quite a bit different from "Your So Right For Me"...
