I used the 66c-70cc boost bottle. The "80cc" engine is actually roughly about 67 or 68cc's. The measured bore and stroke are close to that number even though they are sold as 80cc. Not sure why they do that but it is what it is.
I used the stock muffler except I cut a lot of the baffle out - not all of it - to allow a little backpressure. I know that there are some expansion chambers at boostbottleindustriesDOTcom. Never tried one of those. I just modded my stock muffler and it worked well.
I prefer to use the intake pipes sold on eBay that have a built in barb for a boost bottle. Looks cleaner, and you don't have to tap anything. Plus they're pretty cheap.
It's function is to absorb & release pressure pulses within the intake vein, assisting engine breathing. Now an explanation of exactly what goes on involves a lot of physics and a good understanding of fluid dynamics & pressure zones, but can be explained rather easily.During the intake stroke, air is sucked through the intake manifold and into the port at a considerable velocity. Because of this velocity, the air is said to have relative inertia
take the clutch cover off, (on the left hand side of the motor) pack a little high temp grease on the gears, also on the inside of the cover were the mounting plate is.
This will stop that nasty rattle noise also stop the metal frictionsond, and inturn help you motor last longer,
Also take the end of your exhaust of and clean around the baffle and as far in you can reach with a rag, this will stop the build up of unburnt oil and inturn help you engine stay healthier for longer:)
Go to motoredbikesDOTcom and search for boost bottle, there are alot of postings there were people have put them on and wrote what they thought about them. If you would like to buy one, go to boostbottleindustriesDOTcom, they have a bunch of them to fit your engine size.
I wrote an article about how to solder and re-drill the jet inside the carb on your motorized bike motor awhile back. Here is the link, take some time to read it and maybe that will help makes yours run the best it can. Here is the link:
@jewelrycasa - The links don't work here. Go to motoredbikesDOTcom and search for quarkdudes "re-jetting your carb easy as 123" That may help you to get your engine to run the best it can.
Good luck on finding any jets that fit these carbs. That's the motivation that made me write the re-soldering procedure on motoredbikesDOTcom. I tried to find jets with no luck.
All the boost bottle does is it increases the manifold's volume, right? So in theory can't you get a "bottle" that is tested for heat, pressure, ect. and then just hook that up to the intake?
Tuning the stock engine with the correct jetting, a free flow air cleaner cover and a steel intake makes it run really well with out having to gas it. These motors come to you pretty close to working right but you sometimes have to tweak them a little to get them to run right.
mine has nos, a terbo charger, and a bigger sproket its on a 27 inch bike and has a custom exhaust so it is very loude it will go up to 80-85 mph i have also blow the moter 2 and gone thrugh many tires
@BuckeyeBoys8000 turbo on a 2 stroke does nothing but harm. since a 2 banger doesnt have any valves it relies on backpressure from the exhaust to keep from pushing unburnt fuel out the exhaust manifold. a turbo puts way to much pressure on the fuel to be overcome from the backpressure shock wave and just gets blown out the pipe without burning or lubricating the engine.
It is an 69.7'ish cc motor marketed as an 80cc as ALL the 80cc motors are. I am at 5200 ft above sealevel which robs some power and in this video I was running the stock rear sprocket, so 34 mph was pretty good considering I'm not at sea level.
Adding a boost bottle increases the size of the manifold volume, the motor "thinks" the carb is farther away. As for what it truly does to the performance, I have no idea
its a soda stream bottle,, it is only a vacuum tank, nothing more nothing less,it keeps a reserve of vacuum from the intake manifold,so when you rev it there is no lag in the motor,, :)
There is a single screw on the bottom of the stock exhaust pipe, unscrew that and the inside of the exhaust pipe will come out. After pulling out the inside of the muffler, you will see a small tube about 5 inches long - take a pipe cutter or hack saw and cut that tube down to about 1 inch from the cover that the screw was holding. That's it. Just put it back in and tighten the screw and you get more power - a little bit louder but not bad. Some carb adjustment may be needed.
so for the baffle when i take the bottom of the exhaust pipe of there is a metal pipe that runs up into the mufler. if i shorten that pipe will it go faster? how much should i shorten it by. i still want it to be resonably quiet
The metal pipe that you see, I did cut it down on mine. I cut the pipe down to where there was about 1 inch of pipe left. 1 inch up from the rounded "Cap" where the exhaust comes out of the muffler. Makes it a little bit louder but you feel more power. The addition of a free flow air cleaner cover helps a lot as well together.
thank you. i have already pre ordered the boost bottle. were do i get the filter from? and if i cut the pipe until there is one inch left how much of a sound increase is there? because i need to keep the cops off me. and does it make the engine run hotter? thanks
If you shorten the pipe, The throttle will be more responsive. A little more power, but mainly, a quicker rise in rpm. The metal pipe that you see, I did cut it down on mine. I cut the pipe down to where there was about 1 inch of pipe left. 1 inch up from the rounded "Cap" where the exhaust comes out of the muffler. Makes it a little bit louder but you feel more power. The addition of a free flow air cleaner cover helps a lot as well together.
ok i have already purchased a yellow boost bottle! and i am going to mod my exhaust tomorow in shop class. but are you sure that making the pipe only 1 inch long wont wreck my engine? also it wont be to loud right? because i ride it around town and i know that when you run it with the baffle completely out its way to loud. it wont be like that right? it wont be super loud?
and my engine seems to vibrate to much in the high rpms. and when do i need to change my spark plug? i have put over 2000km on it and its still on the exact same plug that i broke it in on.
With my altitude and the boost bottle, that was the best balance on idle I could get without the engine stalling out. The boost bottle increases the rpm after it is installed a little bit so you have to turn the idle screw down. Wish it could be a little slower rpm but then it dies.
wetpuet, wow your a fucking dumbshit. You think engineers are stupid or what? Your gonna probably run out of fuel for idle-ing so long, do you think the engine would be hotter while high rev or low rev? Obviously high rev, so they encompesate the caculation when high rev you are going to have wind cause you are going, It does not have a torque converter, if you do have one you would have to consider a fan, like an automatic TM vehicle while its traveling up hill with high revolution, stupid
boost bottles dont need fine tuning...or add power.. bonehead they add air/fuel mixture volume to help off-idle throttle response...AND your going to fuck up your motor letting it idle for so damn long! its air cooled you dummy it needs air from riding to run relative wind through cooling fins..lol
Boost bottles may not need fine tuning, however the carb does if you use one. They do add take off power, that's the whole idea. When idling the excess charge goes into the boost bottle, when you accelerate the extra charge that has gone into the boost bottle is added to the normal charge coming directly from the carb. The more charge into the engine equals more power.
That's why it's called a boost bottle. He isn't leaving his engine idiling too long. The fins draw heat away from the engine.
"Air cooled" just means how the heat is disapated. Some engines are liquid cooled, some air cooled. Most lawnmowers and weed wackers are air cooled. You don't need to be running around the yard really fast to keep them cool, the heat just radiates into the air. That is what "air cooled" means.
can you help me the sprocket on the motor wont rotate when i screw in the spark plug. this is my first build and im trying to peddle start it but it wont rotate.
You need to disengauge the clutch in order to move you bike freely then when you get the bike to bout 8-10 mph release the clutch after that your motor should start right up
a boost bottle is a sealed empty chamber which equalizes the pressure within the intake system and also helps to store atomized gas providing a better and more consistent fuel/air mixture
Hi there, nice bike !. I also bought an 80cc kit like that, didn't get it yet. I was wondering if the boost bottle really makes a difference in the power, since the exhaust that comed with the kit is not the best for a 2 stroke. How big a difference did you notice ??
That thing idles for a long time. Are they supposed to do that when they are breaking in or when they are already broken in? I just got mine running and it does not idle nearly that well. I have to keep giving it the throttle to stay alive. THANX
I have about 900 miles on mine so the motor is very broken in. When the jetting is correct for your altitude and the engine has run thru 1 to 2 tanks of fuel, the engine should be broken in by then. Keep on riding and all of a sudden you will feel the power increase while riding at some point and then you will know the break in is getting close to done.
The boost bottle for my bike gave me 2-3 mph more over stock but I do have a rejetted carb, opened up exhaust, free flow air cleaner and a stainless steel intake manifold which helps the flow - so i think all that together helps make the end result more ( more top speed)
i live at like 400 ft above sea level so i bet i can jet that dude on out. where did u get that bottle? my engine is in the mail now i cant wait to set it up. later dude
That's awesome you ordered a kit. They take about 4 hours to install for the first time. That spocket mounting to the rear wheel is fun, you will see what I mean. At 400 ft above sealevel, my guess is the jetting might already be OK. If you need a fine adjust on the richer or leaner adjustment there is a needle valve in the carburetor ( Unscrew the accelerator cable out of the top of the carb) and move the clip up or down one notch. Only if you need fine tuning.
Congrats on your engine order, by now you probably have it installed. How do you like it? With 400 feet above sealevel you probably only need to move the clip on the needle in the carb to lean it out or richen up the mixture. Enjoy the high mpg you will experience.
hey man that thing is awsome...could i ask u for a huge favor...can u tell me how much u payed for that thing all together....would love to own something like that bc i dont have a car but or liesence right now..this would help me out so much bc i wanna c if i could afford it...if so then im def buying it....u did a great job, must be fun to ride on...anyways hope to hear from ya soon about the total cost of it...thanks
You will absolutely love the price. I have seen these on Ebay go for $180.00 shipped to your door. I got my kit off ebay about 2 years ago for $230.00 shipped. The popularity is going up on these things so luckily the price hasn't gone up. If you get one, you can go about 80 miles on Half a gallon of gas. I ride about 100 miles a week and it only costs about $12.00 a month in gas.
I have the same engine but Havent seen any of that special stuff you have.
What is that bottle do and what did you do with the exhaust?
Ive had alot of fun with my bike, riding it to school. I just have been having some vibration problems. I have the correct fuel-oil mix and I tighten the rear wheel but I get this violent vibration at about half throttle.
I havent had ANY vibration problems until 2 weeks ago and now I have wrist pains in my right hand so I use a rope to throttle now.
It is a 2 stroke motor I bought from Kings motors from Ebay. It was about $230.00 shipped. It has about 4 horsepower but enough to get to top speed of 38 mph. This is plenty fast on a bike.
look at the head on it there is only one piston so it must be a two stroke... if there is a rocker cover then it 4 stroke that the easest way... also 4 strokes have sumps
I used a 0.28 drill bit to rejet the carb to the 5200ft above sealevel where this bike is at. I started with a 0.25 and it was too lean, so I kept experimenting until I got to 0.28 and it made the engine run the best as well as the spark plug looked perfect light grey to brown. I have re-jetted 3 of these engines and everyone of them was a different size - not really consistent.
This bike gets 75 miles to the HALF gallon of gas. It cost's roughly $1.85 to fill it up and that gets me to work and back for almost a week. You just can't beat that.
I think "bgoates" means the "jet" IN the carburator, this is the little piece of brass inside de carb that "select" how much fuel it´s mixed with air in the ventury.

populartree 2 years ago
There is a single screw on the bottom of the stock exhaust pipe, unscrew that and the inside of the exhaust pipe will come out. After pulling out the inside of the muffler, you will see a small tube about 5 inches long - take a pipe cutter or hack saw and cut that tube down to about 1 inch from the cover that the screw was holding. That's it. Just put it back in and tighten the screw and you get more power - a little bit louder but not bad. Some carb adjustment may be needed.

how many liters? on the fuel tank?
vasilipao 3 years ago 2
Hi there, nice bike !. I also bought an 80cc kit like that, didn't get it yet. I was wondering if the boost bottle really makes a difference in the power, since the exhaust that comed with the kit is not the best for a 2 stroke. How big a difference did you notice ??

hey, i bought my duel boost bottle set of ebay, does it go on the carb or exhaust? i would realy like to know , thanks.

Hey how many more mph does the boost bottle give you, and how much power? Tif its possible about the thanks!!
Ps: Can you email me about the different features you added to the engine to make it better. Thanks and I appreciate it!

The boost bottle for my bike gave me 2-3 mph more over stock but I do have a rejetted carb, opened up exhaust, free flow air cleaner and a stainless steel intake manifold which helps the flow - so i think all that together helps make the end result more ( more top speed)

i live at like 400 ft above sea level so i bet i can jet that dude on out. where did u get that bottle? my engine is in the mail now i cant wait to set it up. later dude

hello iscrapholeoneword,
That's awesome you ordered a kit. Only if you need fine tuning.
jewelrycasa 3 years ago
Congrats on your engine order, by now you probably have it installed. How do you like it? With 400 feet above sealevel you probably only need to move the clip on the needle in the carb to lean it out or richen up the mixture. Enjoy the high mpg you will experience.

Hello lincolncroozer97,
You will absolutely love the price. I ride about 100 miles a week and it only costs about $12.00 a month in gas.
.......thanks.

Is it a 2 stroke or 4 stroke?
wilzchau 3 years ago
It is a 2 stroke motor I bought from Kings motors from Ebay. It was about $230.00 shipped. It has about 4 horsepower but enough to get to top speed of 38 mph. This is plenty fast on a bike.
jewelrycasa 3 years ago
look at the head on it there is only one piston so it must be a two stroke... if there is a rocker cover then it 4 stroke that the easest way... also 4 strokes have sumps
neil270289 3 years ago
2 stroke diggers and cats also have oil sumps but they are 2 stroke too. So not all 2 stroke engine don't have sumps
diggyj 3 years ago
Hello wilzchau,
This engine is a2 stroke roughly 69 or so cc's. They are advertised on Ebay as 80cc but in reality, they are 69 roughly.
......Thanks

What size of jet are you using at 5200 ft ?
bgoates 4 years ago
I used a 0.28 drill bit to rejet the carb to the 5200ft above sealevel where this bike is at. I started with a 0.25 and it was too lean, so I kept experimenting until I got to 0.28 and it made the engine run the best as well as the spark plug looked perfect light grey to brown. I have re-jetted 3 of these engines and everyone of them was a different size - not really consistent.
Thanks bgoates for the comment..quarkdude

This bike gets 75 miles to the HALF gallon of gas. It cost's roughly $1.85 to fill it up and that gets me to work and back for almost a week. You just can't beat that.

I think "bgoates" means the "jet" IN the carburator, this is the little piece of brass inside de carb that "select" how much fuel it´s mixed with air in the ventury.
