IN THE 70'S RECORD BRAEKERS MY GRANDAD PLAYED THE BASS IN THE THEME TUNE :3 HE WORKED FOR ROY CASTLE! I HAVE BEEN TRRYING TO FIND A VIDEO OF IT TO SEE MY GRANDAD BUT THERE ALL IN THE 80'S :'( SOMEONE HELP ME FIND ONE IN THE 70'S !! BUT HOW AWSOME IS THAT MY GRANDAD WORKED FOR HIM EH? :D BTW VIST MY CHANNEL AND ASK QUESTIONS ON IT AND I WILL AWNSER ALL OF THEM! (ABOUT ROY)) AS MY GRANDAD COMING ROUND TOMMOROW HE CAN AWNSER THEM! :D
the man was a genius. He as the fastest tap dancer in the world, he could play i dont know how many instruments, sing, act how did he do all these things.
It is very sad to think he did not smoke, but died through second hand smoke, can people who smoke not heed the warning?, my mother died of cancer and it was appalling to see her suffer and lose so much weight.
@TheTmny876able He was a very talented man was Roy Castle I can remember seeing him and his son Ben performing together on Bruce's Guest Night in 1993 his hair had just started growing back. Roy was also a great trumpet player as well.
roy wasnt ready for death and tried to beat it shame because he lived his life he was a great guy to watch and an insperation to all of us ....respect..
when I am just a boy i eat 19 choc bar at one time, I write to norris but he no reply ;-( however I am verr glad as I am sick as dog for many day so I could no go on show anyway...I go to doctor and he say `medication oooo medication, medication that`s what you need.......`
From 1995 or 1996 onwards, Record Breakers changed their closing theme and simply used the same music as the opening theme - after Roy Castle died they used an instrumental of "Dedication". I think it was quite disrespectful to Roy's memory for the BBC to scrap the theme.
From what I recall Linford's two series were all on location, and after his drugs scandal the series was on hold during 2000 before a final (also location-based) series in 2001 with Fearne Cotton and co.
The show did start changing before Baker and Akabusi left though, their last set did away with the big audience seating and was in a black-walled studio with much smaller audience...
yeah... way to go, tribute to the man himself, and then end it as soon as he appears on screen.... you dumb shit

Shame not to see any of Roy. Shame on Norris too. He should have said "he broke no fewer than nine", not "he broke no less".:-)

@JB1601 Fearne Cotton has a habit of killing off tv shows.. she did it with Top of the Pops too

Never was a fan of Kriss Akabusi - he spoke to quickly and laughed like a hyena on acid. Roy Castle of course, being the complete opposite.
Linford's Record Breakers was even worse because there was practically no old fashioned in-studio challenges.
