Some comments confuse the balance with the tourbillon --as the OP points out, there are two tourbillons (the tourbillon strictly speaking is the carriage not the oscillator inside it.) This is an inclined axis double tourbillon.
@tomasdoc2002 Sorry to contradict your certainty, but I can assure you that unlike the JLC Gyrotopurbillon and Thomas Prescher's double-axis tourbillon, the Greubel Forsey Double Tourbillon is actually two separate single-axis tourbillon arranged one inside the other. The inside tourbillon cage is angled at 30° and rotates in 60-seconds, while the outer tourbillon cage rotates in 4 minutes.
No there are two separate tourbillons: a one-minute tourbillon rotates inside a four-minute toubillon.
You can see the one minute tourbillon rotating with the escapement in the center and if you look carefully at the circumference outside that inner tourbillon, you can see the cage of the second four-minute toubillon slowly rotating around the edge.
that's slightly confusing, as far as I see there is one balance wheel, so it should probably be considered multi-axis tourbillon. a very attractive modular design anyway
It should be considered a double tourbillon because that is what it is, i.e. two separate tourbillons one rotating inside another. The balance is oscillating inside a one minute tourbillon and the one minute tourbillon is rotating inside a larger 4 minute tourbillon.
A multi-axis tourbillon has only one tourbillon rotating on multiple axis.
No there are two tourbillons. The escapement rotates inside one tourbillon every minute and that is inside another tourbillon which rotates every four minutes. There are two tourbillons, which is why it is called a double tourbillon.

its not double tourbillon you mofo, this is 2-axis tourbillon, still a mechanical marvel of great magnitude!

Just Beautiful craftsmanship...
I just fell in love with Tourbillon technique in watchmaking.
However, because I'm new to this, I cannot seem to find the second tourbillon in this watch. Am I wrong, or is there only one of it?
Berkebsn 2 years ago
You're correct, there is one tourbillon, but it's rotated once every 4 minutes.
The escapement mechanism is rotated once every minute in the tourbillon, which itself is rotated once every 4 minutes.
So that's why the watch is called Double Tourbillon, but in fact it actually has one tourbillon.
