  • There's a huge build up of tension in the little stranger. I was left guessing what would happen next, and it wasn't until the protagonist Faraday was saying his final thoughts on the case on the last few pages that i realised what really happened. she's an amazing writer. i love all her books. I wonder what lies beneath her eyes and in her thoughts.

  • She looks like a lovely woman who'd feed newborn kittens with an eyedropper and take cuttings from her geranium. But her writing suggests a morbid preoccupation with things like steam digesters and kelp.

The Little Stranger has haunted my thoughts and stalked my dreams since I first read it. As a huge H. James fan, I must admit I think it even better than The Turn of the Screw.

If ever there were an "instant classic" this is it. Brilliant story, brilliant story-teller.

  • I love her novels ''The Little Stranger'' in polish''Ktoś we mnie'' is wonderful.

  • I'm reading this book now. It starts off really, really slow but it gets very good.

  • An incredible novel and thanks for uploading this interview.

  • Favourite author. Can't wait to get it!!

The day after my last exam!

Also love a book with an old house at its centre.
