To everyone who has posted here thanking me for putting this up, you're quite welcome. I love this trailer/song/movie as much as you do! Definitely glad to help. For years I didn't know what this song was, then I finally discovered what it was. Awesome tune....
Thank you SO much for uploading this. I've been looking for this song for YEARS!! At long last, thanks to you, my quest is over. So again, thank you.
I too saw it before Ferris Bueller on VHS and watched it over and over. I didn't know for years what song it was until 2001 when I happened to hear it on Internet radio. Happy to see it used on Napoleon Dynamite also. Too funny.
Another awesome taste of nostalgia thanks to youtube. Thank u so much for uploading this. I remember this from the Ferris vhs tape as well. One of the first songs in memory that stuck in my head
I remember seeing this on the Ferris Bueller tape. I remembered that I loved the song, but I'd forgotten what it sounded like. I just happened to stumble across the song today here on Youtube, and someone had mentioned in a comment that they remembered it from this movie. And then I suddenly remembered this trailer and I knew that it had to be the song I'd loved so long ago.
Wow, I had the same VHS tape of Ferris Bueller with this preview when I was growing up, and I came here just to find out what this song was called. Thank you very much!
this trailer always stuck in my mind. dramatic images, no dialogue, and that lovely tune. a tune that was glued in my memory but i did not know the name. i figured i'd check on here to see if anyone had uploaded. sometimes the internet is a wonderful thing. thanks for posting!
The version of "Music For A Found Harmonium" in Napoleon Dynamite is by Patrick Street, an Irish folk band.
I am another who first heard the PCO original version when I saw the trailer on the VHS release of FBDO and ended up replaying the trailer over and over again for nearly 40 minutes. For whatever reason, few things have ever moved me as strongly as this trailer and the song.
This song (Music for a found harmonium, penguin cafe orchestra) really is something special. Like most of you, I heard it first on the Ferris Beuller VHS, it was burned into my brain for years and I spent 15+ years trying to track it down. Tracking down an instrumental song that did not appear on the film or the soundtrack is exceedingly difficult. Not just this post, but all across the internet I have read posts of people just like me, infatuated with this song from this one VHS preview.
@erless22... That's what I remember it from too! So funny. I heard the song at the end of Napoleon Dynamite and thought I would search here. If I didn't find it here I was going to hunt down that tape! I think I watched Ferris Bueller's Day Off only a couple hundred times... that song was burned in.
OH MY GOD!!! I have literally been looking for this for 15 years - I remember it so vividly from the Ferris Bueller VHS. I have SEARCHED everywhere. Thank you, thank you, thank you for posting!
Great movie, one of Johns' best.
It has some hilarious verbal and visual moments.

Half of these scenes weren't even in the movie and they aren't offered in any "deleted scenes " DVDs either!!!

Horrifically under-rated movie.
It deserves a way higher ranking in "movie land" than it currently gets.....
The humour is brilliant.

The music for this trailer is also used at the end of Napolean Dynamite.

I was a paid extra in this movie. Which of course, means I'm only one degree from Kevin Bacon.
