@mikeplay007 yea thats why us airforce is ranked #1.do u no the F22 raptor could probably beat all those planes at ounce. with stealth capabilities out of this world i would be surprised if they evan see it before there all destroyed.
@dinoguy500 Do you know that the Fucking USeless 22 must be kept in a hangar as it cannot come into contact with rain or the "radar absorbant" skin will get damanged. Also, for every one hour flight, it needs 30 hour mantainance. All of this from a Lockheed engineer. People like you only hear the things they want.
@omega4chimp SR 71 isn't a fighter and not a bomber, SR71 is a reconiconse plane, spy plane, can only take a pictures, nothing more. It can't even take singal granate, not even 10 kilo bomb, just a paparazi, understand?
@omega4chimp MIG 25 first fly was in 1960s F22 after 2000s. Russian fighers allways compared with US planes wich were made 30-40 years after. SU-35, SU 47, MIG 35, MIG 31, PAK FA T50, they all are much better than F22, and they are all RUSSIAN.
I think it is worth it to spend the extra $6k. You don't see much earth curve, if any, from the lower elevation but do when higher. And once you've spent as much as you are for the flight and getting there, the extra $6k isn't that bad. I believe the entire flight was around 30 minutes not counting a lot of hold time on the ground. That's a lot of money per minute but, again, if you're wondering now about the difference, imagine what you may think when you start coming down from 70k.
Well, for starters, none of the edge of space flights will put you "in the blackness of space" because you're not high enough. They call them the "edge" for a reason. Secondly, you're looking at the 70k video which is still 10k lower than the max elevation of the flight. At that point you do see the curve of the earth with space black above you, the earth below.
would you say it is worth spending about $6,000 extra to fly to 85,000 feet , vs not spending the extra $6,000 to fly to 70,000 feet.(the mig 31 flights are $6,000 moe than the mig 29 flights, and I'm just trying to decide which one is the best deal)(also the mig 29 stays above 60,000 feet for about 10 min, and I'm not sure how long the mig 31 does, how long were you at the "edge of space"
@FsimulatorX Not a pilot at all. Anyone who can afford it can go to Russia and elsewhere and "rent a ride" with an experienced pilot. Russia is a lot more casual about safety than elsewhere and certainly more than in the US, so you can do things there not possible elsewhere.
Also not 0 GS. You feel lighter going over the top but nothing's floating in the cockpit.
Wow! I just got vertigo watching that, and I'm not at all afraid of heights! LOL, saw the horizon, and you looked out the window, and all I could think "holy shit, why is a person this high in the air...that's really 13mi down? That's just amazing, really. It's a short video, but thank you for that anyway. It really made an impression, at least the first time I watched it!
how the hell can a 40 year old plane reach that altitude.. i thought only the sr-71 could fly 70,000 feet... and how did u get the oppertunity to fly 1... are u american airforce?
To maintai sufficient lift at that alitude you have either got to have a very low stall speed like a glider and be capable of maintaining a ground speed of 400 knots. Or travel fast enough to avoid reaching the stall speed like an SR-71. Very little air very little lift.
@omega4chimp still not a bad fighter just looks like a 5 year old designed it.XD

@FsimulatorX I don't recall exactly but around $15,000US I believe. You can see what it is now by going to Incredible Adventures website.

@FsimulatorX used to be you can go to russia and buy a flight in one of these. i do not know if this is still available. but would be fun Eh?

you own that plane or what?:)
btw what gound speed did you reach at that altitude? also what about the air speed?
cosminx2003 1 year ago
@cosminx2003
I don't own it. You "rent" (pay for) the ride through a company called Incredible Adventures (I would include the link but YT does not allow.)
I have no idea what the ground speed was.

Not uncomfortable, about what you would expect for an old Russian fighter.

Not even a pilot. Search for Incredible Adventures and look for Edge of Space (I would give you the URL but Youtube won't allow that.)
They now use a 31 which doesn't go as high but it should still be fun.

@99F if I remember correctly, about $17k but that was 4 or 5 years ago so probably more now. Google Incredible Adventures, Edge of Space to see.
