  • @lolliesareyum oui, au moins pour moi :D

  • Forsooth, I remember thus the days therein when this song did populate the #1 on the Renaissance iTunes top 100

  • where is nostalgy? where the "melanconia" inside this execution? YOU TURNED IT IN A "TARANTELLA"!!! completely wrong!

PS: I'm from South Italy and I LOVE TARANTELLA!

  • bien

  • they sound good BUT WHY is this being recorded in Portugal? Ah man, it should be played more in England

  • black adder black adder

  • It sounds WAY better being performed at least at 2 times slower tempo.

  • the tempo ist correct !

  • @rolfblank

What are U - retard? I only expressed my opinion and didn't mention the "state of correctness" of the tempo.

  • @HolbergEM or by my school concert band, with 4 drums, 10 trumpets, 2 trombones, 15 clarinets, 10 flutes and 12 saxaphones or different types.

    and a HUGE percussion

  • Hm, imho it sounds as if it were sung in a haste.

  • Very lovely rendition!

  • fantastic

    great

    well done

  • I absolutely adore this rendition/performance of it. It's wonderful. Thanks so much for posting this! I'd love to get an mp3 of it <3

  • this song is one of the best poems of Henry VII

  • This is a nice song; it has a catchy tune. I've also heard that Henry VIII wrote Greensleeves but I don't know if that is as true as him writing this song.

  • Hnery did not write Greensleeves it is an Elizabethan song. That type of music didnt even come to England until after Henry's death :)

  • Why is it that people are arguing about history and immigrants in a video about a song by Henry VIII? Come on, people! Let's talk about the song!

  • suprim yourself

  • im so proud of my countries history.. i wish we had a king like him now..

  • Me too :) (apart from the whole slavery thing...)

Now it's just motorways, powerlines and people shouting at each other in the streets :(

  • Right, see this is where you and I differ...

In that I quie like having a diverse range of people and a working economy in the country...

But let's just leave it at that.

  • a) It's because they're better at the job than you that you're out of a job, and nothing else. b) Bullshit. If what you said was true, we would still be under complete control of the following: - Canada - Newfoundland - America - Australia - India - Iraq - Kuwait - Palestine - Ireland And many, many more. You have absolutely no idea what it is to be in the situation those people are in. in Maybe if you payed more attention in History and English you'd have better luck getting a job.
  • Employed.

  • debs222 you live in Mauritius.

    Shut up.

  • haha no i dont i choose a random country :)

  • when did henry viii write it?

  • I love this song, I sing it with my choir...this choir sings it very fast!!...but it's pretty...we sing it with the three voices....

  • Henry VIII is such a creative man. Songs, poetry, portraits + more.

  • WAS a creative man

  • personally I like the wind ensemble concert band version of this piece, it's a lot more dramatic and brings a whole new feeling to the piece. We are performing it in our winter concert in a few weeks. This is a great example of the traditional style in which henry VIII wrote it. Excellent performance.

  • Didn't he write it for just the 3 voices?

  • Yes...and no...

At the time, one wrote parts without specification for voice or instrument. The concept of orchestration did not ferment until Monteverdi. Pieces were meant to be performed with whatever instruments and voices were at hand, and the period instrumentalists understood how to ornament parts 'on the fly.' Its somewhat similar to figured bass for bass continuo, but more an instructed method acquired from teachers and rarely written down.

  • merci pour cette ceste juste mesure

  • Wow, great performance!

  • i love this song. we sang it in our chamber choir.

  • I love this!

  • I love reinassance dance music. Thank you for shariing this beautiful video!

  • Thank you. I love the music from the Tudor era.

  • Belo video ... Um registro de uma obra pouco conhecida de Henrique VIII
