hoje,vemos várias batidas feias na indy e na f1 e não acontecem nenhum dano com os pilotos,mas nos anos 90 uma batida dessas matava,vide scott brayton e krosnoff em 96,gonzalo rodriguez e greg moore em 99 e senna em 94,os q quase se foram,hakkinen em 95,fittipaldi em 96,rubinho e wendlinger em 94 e tantos outros,infelizmente por causa disso temos a obrigatoriedade do HANS,dos softwalls e dos cockpits com corpo inteiro,por isso q corrida não é brincadeira!!!!

as mortes do dan wheldon e do simoncelli pra mim foram fatalidades,pq no do simoncelli ele veio caindo e o colin edwards e o valentino rossi não conseguiram desviar e o acertaram de cheio,do wheldon,bateram ele e mais 14,então..........

@rennan197 Poucos anos atras houve uma batida envolvendo mais carros na F1 e ngm se feriu. Não tente comparar F1 e Indy. F1 é a NASA do automobilismo, Indy é uma categoria sem metade da metade da grana da F1

@chapmana22 Unbelieveable crash. The marshall who died was actually the one standing behind the visible marshall. He escaped with a broken collarbone as the tire hit him. Unfortunately the other marshall (who's head is seen slightly to the right of the first marshall) suffered massive head injuries as he was hit by the same tire to the head. A sad sad accident....

This and Greg Moore's crash were the worst and I saw both live.. I was sick to my stomach each time.. Had the same feeling when Kenny Brack crashed but he survived somehow.

I've never seen the close-up replay that Brazilian TV shows here. All of those marshalls standing there could've been killed, it was miraculous no one else died. I dont know about CART, but F1 seems incredibly safe these days, hasnt been a fatality or serious injury for years...touch wood.

Very sad, and awful.

You can see the wheel break off the suspension when it strikes the marshall. The car then split in half after hitting the pole.

Sorry, maybe i used the wrong words, i'm italian. I mean the tubular metallic barriers with the grid, their really too dangerous and yet offers few protection for the spectators cause they'r unable to catch wheels and small parts flying around.I suppose tecnology offers alternative such Lexan structures. Polycharbonate is transparent, stiff but not fragile.The only major issue is that it can be scratched by impacts reducing visibility from the crowd, but realise a contiuous barrier is affordable

Well now you´ve got the point... but they would need to test that thing on a real racetrack to prove that polycarbonate is a reliable material to prevent fatal accidents like that...

For sure! I mean, it's safer for drivers and spectators to use a tested structure than test that during an accident...In the last few years also in formula one a couple of marshalls have been killed from wheels, I suppose the time to study an alternative has come.
