  • This tool is available in the US and Canada from several sources including MAC and MATCO, as well as some retail and web locations. Just search for Mayhew Inner Tie Rod tool.

  • i can just use a channel lock or vice grip easy too.

  • @hp11208 Not on some dodges the factory inner tie rod is perfectly smooth you cant get a grip on hardened metal so you need a special tool from Moog that has hardened set screws all round.

  • @Eng8492 I know, ill try different ways to get it out, grind it down a lil to get a grip make me a tool.

  • @hp11208 yes i guess that will work but I would rather pay 35 bucks instead of having all that grinder dust embedded in my face. also, don't get the end too hot or the seals inside the rack and pinion will melt

  • There is several car models (mainly European) where there is no acces with a pipe wrench without dismantling everything around it.

  • @Ktec01

Can't you just use a ratchet extension and a large crowfoot? I did that on my own car. It was effective and cheap. I can't imagine a situation where this tool would work but not the extended crowfoot.

  • I was told a simple pipe wrench could be used to remove an inner tie-rod. So how come there are so many specialised tools to do this job ? Is it because the pipe wrench can't do the job?

  • Does anyone have experience with the lifespan of this tool?

  • Can be ordered in Switzerland at Kamatec.com

  • Where can it be bought?

  • Does this have a lug to grip inside the ball joint?

  • Where can I buy this ? I can only find the one with bunch of allen keys around it .. but i want this stud remover style tool.

    Please share if you can.

    Thanks

  • you can rent them at advance auto parts for $60. use it and return it for all your money back. you can keep it up to 45 days, after that its yours.

  • Where do you get this?

  • As many pounds as you apply by using a torque key or wrench on the back of the tool. The Speedy tool is just like a oversized nut.

  • How many pounds of torque does the inner rod get?

  • where can i buy this tool... i want it
