what piece did you use to let the candy fall out on the motor? i mean the little gear thing which piece is that.

well, its just a wheel piece. You can use a normal five piece bar in its place.

I could imagine a automated system delivering for instance a coke from a fridge right to my desk. I'd need alot of legos (luckily not too necessary) to do that long way. And It shure would be fun to even construct it.

how heavy is the nxt ive always wondered

Not too much without the batteries, but with it's a little heavy.

It's not a problem though because the motors are really strong so they can hold it up.

what i really wanted to know is is it hard to build these things in your own design. I try to build mindstorms on lego digital designer and i keep chickening out because i thing ill mess it up.

all i need is your opinion and give me advice on it.

It's not really too hard as long as you make a prototype first, even if it looks suckish or is unstable. Then now that you have something to work with, one by one replace pieces and come up with a more logical design piece by piece.

If any one could help me with something, I have a gum ball machine and i only use one motor, i want to be able to program sometihng to read a coin and the be able to use the touch sensor to chose fomr 3 different colors of gumm balls, ex insert coin press touch sensor once get gumball #1,insert coin press touch sensor 2 times and get gumball #2, can any one help me?

It will be very tough to select different gumballs with only one motor.

Oh, just make the same thing three times. Then make a program loop that counts the number of times the touch sensor is pressed and passes that data to another block which has some true/false stuff that decides which motor to activate when the coin goes down.

do you use the light sensor or the ultrasonic sensor? and what is your program?

I used the light sensor, there was a little light showing though and the coin would shine against it. You could use the ultrasonic one instead too.

i tried using the light sensor but i cant figure it out the coin moves to fast for the light sensor to see it and how would i program it i had it at less than 50 with light on but everything that moved set off the sensor and the con didnt can you help, thanks for responding so quickly

Ya, I was lucky in finding the perfect number to set it off when the coin goes down. But try using the ultrasonic.

Yes it senses that, anything smaller than a quarter doesn't pass the sensor.

I'll try instructions, all you really need are lots of normal bricks, nxt, and a couple slanty bricks.

With NXT - Used light sensor for coins with a ramp, and a motor with a circle on it and an axle to push the block back and forth under the place where the gumballs are stored.
