  • why does she always do that weird movement with her jaw ?

  • So anisette: how does it feel to have your own personal stalker following you from video to video? He did the same thing to me on my own name. Some people have no lives, you know?

  • @attorjohn doesn't bother me , in fact I didn't even notice it until recently..... I tend not to react to no life weirdos on You Tube :)) I like to feel myself as objective in my comments...... sorry you had to suffer from this person..maybe we should be flattered by having a personal stalker ? LOL.....

  • What a filthy whore. Really, she is the most self absorbed, classless, boorish character I have ever watched in a film. If she were a man behaving in such a way, I would say the same thing.

  • with a few more special effects this could have been a blockbuster like 2012,without the bullshit applepie hollywood acting with instant emotions out of the can!

  • @tommy1973able I've got to agree. The acting is nauseatingly maudlin, and the premise is buried under all this 'relationships' nonsense.

  • @megaswenson actually i meant the acting in 2012,on the beach is very realistic in his acting.this movie has good enough actors,to go without to many effects!unfortunatly, box office audiences only want instant shock and awe, that,s why that piece of crap battle los angeles is doing so well!

  • whats the significance of the black pearl (if there is any)--(dwights gift)--has she mentioned wanting one somewhere in the film?

  • It symbolizes human screwing.

  • Comment removed

  • I thought Dwight's gift to Moira was going to be his schlonsky seeing as she likes screwing so much!

  • She doesn't love Jules but is screwing him?? Shye's sex fiend. She likes screwing ALOT!

  • @geoffck6969 stupid.... she doesn't want to die alone and Jules convinced her Dwight isn't coming back. In the original version, he DOESN'T come back...

  • The fact that Rachel and Osbourne are husband and wife in RL makes this parting scene especially poignant IMHO

  • PS plus Gardner's wardrobe was WAY better than Rachel's with her ridiculous shoes..

  • This version is so monumentally inferior to the Peck/Gardner Kramer-directed version of 1959, and so completely stupidly soap-operatic, in complete contradiction to the Shute book, that one wishes them gone, to give a head start to the bees and roaches.

    -drl

  • agreed!! 1959 was better!!

  • I disagree. It's more profound, more poignant, and has a lot better acting than the original.

  • @airdriver Better acted? These Aussies cannot act to save themselves...

  • @royalcourtier The original was made during late 50's and there was still great mystery and ignorance surrounding nuclear energy and the weaponizing of the atom. This film was made in 2000 when knowledge regarding nuclear weapons was much more vast. Therefore, the original was the much better film based solely on this fact. This piece of shit sappy melodrama has no such excuse, regardless of how much aniste46 nonsensically protests that it's "awesome". She just wants to screw Dwight

  • @geoffck6969 So Blow Job: which part of this movie isn't based on fact?

    Oh, it all is?

    I thought so :D

  • @airdriver Not close to as good of acting as the orginal.

  • both versions have their good and bad sides..the 50s film was great but seems a bit outdated today especially regarding the Moira character, but it was more faithful to the book. Astaire was sadly miscast. I don't like all in the aussie version, they didn't use the music Waltzing Matilda big mistake, but it is very engaging and still relevant.. I watch both with pleasure.

  • Well the bees and the roaches would need space too evolve?

  • what would be the last book you would be reading?

  • she took time to change from the station...

  • That's what I'm going to say to my husband on my deathbed: "I can honestly say you've made my life a hell of a lot more interesting than it would have been" and I hope he will answer "The same"

  • what a tough gig he gets paid to bed his old lady

  • hey, she's still beddable, and not THAT old

  • man ive been in love with rachel ward since i was six years old. Bryan brown is the coolest cat alive

  • He is indeed... first caught on to him in the TV series "A Town Called Alice" by the same author of On The Beach..Loved Rachel in Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid but hate her mouth movements and wardrobe in this...

  • @anisete46 Excessive jaw movement can be attributed to cocaine use. By the look of that tramp Rachel Ward, i wouldn't doubt it if she was choking back large quantites of llello during the shooting of this godawful movie. But don't tell anisete46! You'll destroy her illusion of these people as terrific human beings as opposed to second rate, drugged out Hollywood castoffs!

  • poignant, when you know they are man and wife in real life...

  • why does she always do that open mouth side to side smiley thing? It's irritating

  • what's with all the clothing changes?

  • Hey, I lived thru the Cu ban missile crisis and I was only 9...still have nightmares about a blinding flash of light..but I'm addicted to nuclear catastrophe films..go figure...

  • anisete46

    you and me both

tho i grew up after it.

i grew up with nuclear disasters like three mile island and chernobyl.. i'm not sure they were much better.. some how i remembered chernobyl looking back, but the word always meant bad to me.. lol i finally remembered that after seeing about every damn documentary i can get my greedy hands on.

  • strange no? not less than the fact that I married a man who works in the nuclear industry....go figure...

  • for suntzu1985...I didn't know that about executions suntzu..weird...

  • I can't stop watching this.. I know it by heart, and still cry every time

  • I don't recommend this movie for depressive, hypersensitive or suicidal persons. I bought a DVD two years ago and there was a clearly visible "eighteen" sign on the envelope.

  • @anisete46 Do you have issues? Not only is the subject matter so morbid as to not want to watch it more than once, but also, outside of the screwing scenes, it's a terrible film!

  • @geoffck6969 No, I don't have issues, unless living my childhood and adolescence under the threat of nuclear annihilation counts as one. This is a supremely human story about meeting the end with dignity. You on the other hand judging from your comments, seem to have an unhealthy obsession/issue with sex, not dignified at all. Love does exist.

  • @anisete46 Get over yourself, dear lady! Moira's a pathetically desperate slut. And this movie's a piece of crap. What's the scientific basis for the human extinction storyline? In Shute's original novel, the basis was cobalt salted thermonuclear warheads. No nuclear power has ever jacketed their warheads with cobalt. Also, modern hydrogen bombs ue a lead tamper in the second stage as opposed to uranium, making them relatively "clean" in terms of radioactivity.

  • @anisete46 In an earlier comment you justified Moira's slutty screw festivals by saying she was screwing so many men because she didn't want to die alone. Now you say that this piece of foolishness film, and I quote, "...is a supremely human story about meeting the end with dignity." You are just saying shit without thinking about it. Personally, I don't think it's a very dignified way for a woman to greet death by having a bunch of men stick their dicks up her. Do you?

  • that same black horse is everywhere

  • why do they bother disinfecting the site of the final injection?

  • force of habit, it is the same in the prison system when administering a lethal injection to a condemned prisoner about to be executed. wouldn't want the prisoner getting an infection and cheat the state out of executing the condemned now would we.

  • I wish she wouldn't do that mouth half open jaw moving side to side thing....
