  • These screws are a fucking bitch. Thankyou SONY

  • use super glue to get rid of it. just glue the screwdriver to the screw, wait for it to dry, and then unscrew, easy

  • my psp is fat too,and i wanna ask is how do you unscrew the left down screw?

  • if i rip the faceplate out, will mess up some of the chips inside the psp other then the screws?

  • i broke my psp screen and im gonna change it so i can let my little brother have it but i cant remove the fucken screws i was only able to get 2 out and still no progress. is there a special screwdriver that fits on it?

  • what happened when you ripped off the faceplate? did it tear or broke or something?

  • The screw on the bottom of my psp e stripped, what can i do ?

  • How'd you get it off??

  • Had the same problem with the upper right corner screw on my PSP. Ended up in breaking it right off. Luckily it was only the screw, and 3 millimeters of the faceplate that got away with it. Replaced the faceplate with a crystal faceplate. Looks perfect. And I don't have nay problems with the missing screw.

  • I don't know why manufacturers keep using these blasted philip head screws they're so easy to get stripped.

  • TECH DECK SCREW AND TOOLS WORK FOR PSP! LOL. Dont ASK ME HOW I KNOW>

  • as long as it dont effect ur gameplay or charging dont worry bout it

  • K dude a ps2 memory card have the exact same screw so just take one from it

  • how can u get it off my psp screw fuck up too and im bad i cant get it open to replace the joystick

  • my screws are stuck and i cant rip off the face plate off can some one help

  • Same thing happened to me when I was removing a faceplate. I couldn't get the faceplate off. but if I get a new faceplate, the gap will not doesn't really bother me either.

  • ebay dude

  • i need some psp screws does anybody know were i can get some

  • just google psp screws and you should find a bunch of sites that sell replacement screws

  • i stripped my bottom screw on my slim. every other week i air-spray the inside due to dust and stuff getting inside the gap in the bottom

  • lol thats what i did now the top one is stripped and now i can get it off

  • Comment removed

  • so you just ripped off the faceplate? is there a special way to do it to cause less damage?

  • idk,i had the same problem, i had to rip off the faceplate( the only way it stays on now, is by scotch invisible tape)lol, but it worked, however i suggest you try all your other options first, in some cases it can be covered by warranty

  • can anyone help i have a screw problem but its different the screws at the back right hand side can come out but i cant fsten them in again they jus keep popping out the bottom one is slightly more secure than the top i examined the screws and there appeared to be no problem am i right in thinking that its the hole that the screw goes through in the facplate is messed up so all i need is a new faceplate?

  • It seems my precision screwdriver will strip all my screws. How exactly did you rip off the faceplate? I plan on getting a new faceplate anyway so if i can rip all the screws out and still have a working psp i would do it.

  • Careful, when I ripped my faceplate, I ripped out the thread as well. I could not replaced the stripped screw, so I had a little gap in my PSP.

  • So the damage is perminant? Cause I have a stripped screw and thinking about ripping off the faceplate and then buying a replacement screw.

  • it seems liek thta screw bothers alot of ppl...including me

  • i know :(

  • the 1 screw on the bottom of my psp got stripped.

  • how u do it i need 2 get dat same screw off

  • how did you take off the screw. i just poped off the faceplate and that broke a pice off but i have another psp

  • i got 1 more question when you force it off does it remove the thread from the face plate or the screw?

  • What do you mean by the thread? Sry for the very late response...

  • The groves that help it..umm screw in? i dunno how to explain it

  • Oh I think I know what you mean. The stripped screw is still stuck on the faceplate (I just checked). Judging from it, breaks the thread somewhat. You can't really fix this after this happened unless you find some other measure to prevent the thread from breaking.

  • mine is on the top and i havent done it yet cuz im scared it will make my R button come out. does anyone know if it will?

  • y not just use a tap with the same diameter as the old screw and put another screw with .01 of an inch? would it makes things worse?

  • thanks dude!!! You helped a lot

  • eh, just be careful when ripping.

  • I was and it worked just fine, thanks again!

  • I was and it worked just fine, thanks again!

  • im smart u see lol but does any one no of a downgrader for 3:72? XD

  • lol ill take it to school and make i lil slot in the screw undo the screw and take one from school :P

  • lol good luck then.

  • if i brake my faceplate off will i be able 2 put another faceplate HELP ME PLZ HELP ME PLZ PLZ PLZ

  • well you could, but i recommend in knowing what your doing first. Try to remove the strip screw first. If nothing works, try to break the faceplate off. Just make sure you break it off carefully. As always, make sure you at least have another faceplate.

  • 4 out of the 7 screws out of my psp r stripped

  • ouch, I don't think you should rip your faceplate off then. If you do, you won't be able to fit your faceplate as it will keep falling off.

  • will the faceplate be broken?

  • depends how you rip it. I ripped mine off carefully.

  • can I replace it with a ps2 screw?

  • I don't know, just take one of the screws from the psp and goto your local store and find an exact measure/replacement.

  • i got a stripped screw too! how did YOU get it out.

  • Ripping the faceplate is what I did. Unscrewed all of the screws, then ripped it off. However, you'll be missing a screw if you do, and by doing so, you'll have a small gap in your psp (unless you can find a way to screw it back in, which imma do). Ripping off a faceplate is a LAST RESORT. try other methods like super gluing screwdriver and screw together, and remove it.

  • I have not tried it, but I heard it might work. Or try using screw grabber bottle found in lowes or home depot. It increases screwdriver grip 400 percent somewhat. Again I've never tried that either. Those two methods are what i found over google/forums. try those, if not then rip it off. Or find some other way I guess.

  • Another method you can do is to take a box cutter or some kind of sharp razor, and apply a straight line across the stripped screw. Use a flathead screwdriver to remove it. I've tried this method before, it's pretty hard to make a line with a box cutter because the screw is small. Unfortunately I gave up trying this, but you can try it. you might have better luck than I do.

  • So you just broke the previous faceplate? I'm with the same problem and I really don't know what to do. Stupid Sony.

  • Yep I broke it off, but I realized that I can put back the broken faceplate back on because it's not that broken. Like I said before, there will be a small vent on the bottom right of the psp. Another method I've heard to remove stripped screws is to super glue the stripped screw along with a spare screwdriver. Let it try, then remove the stripped screw. I don't know if this works, but it sounds interesting, and it might work.

  • super glue isnt strong enough for that. youd need contact cement or something for that.

  • so u ripped the faceplate off with the bottom left screw still on????i have the exact same problem and i still cant take it off..my faceplate is broken cuz someone dropped it.

  • The stripped screw came off with the faceplate.
