  • Thanks for this great video. Very informative!!!

  • Have you considered titration for a more precise pH test? Nothing against strips, however they can be rather unreliable, in fact up to value off.

I think you'd be surprised how things we think are neutral, are in fact still acidic or alkaline.

You seem to be coming along with your understanding of chemistry. I would be more than happy to supply you with a more precise mechanism to do your test. :)

  • So what would happen if you mixed water+soda+vienegar? Would that have the right pH?

  • My hair totally rejected the acv and baking soda method.

  • Love the information keep us educated.

  • I've said it before...SUCH an awesome series.

  • LOVE THIS!! I really appreciate how you have taken the time to explore the science of our hair.

  • @kimmytube so are you saying its not good to wash my face with baking soda?

  • Did you notice that Lye relaxers have a higher alkaline level than bleach and ammonia?! NOOOOO!!! Also, her hidden sarcasm is hilarious.

  • i love her

  • Glad you placed a warning on Baking Soda, I used on my scalp and the burning sensation lasted all day i had to continually put my head under the shower thought my scalp had burned and my hair would fall out. phew it didnt. Also tried dilluted ACV for dry scalp didn't understand why i need to use on dry scalp? Bless

  • Thanks you so much for doing this. I am finally being able to understand my hair!

  • Very informative. Thanks!!

  • has anybody felt like when their new growth starts coming it feels like a different texture?

  • I could sit here and watch every series. I'm learning more here today than I have in 4 years of college (a bit dramatic, but you get the idea)

  • Ok, i have completed ther ciriculum (watching part 1-3) When are the exams? And when can i have my certificate please Madam.

  • Hello Kim

From time to time I use Hena as a deep conditioner for my hair. In it I use Plain Yogurt, an egg, a lemon, olive oil, and a cup of tea. After following this process my curl pattern is usually changed and my curls are very loose. It also colors my hair. What I wanted to ask you is is this process damaging my hair?

  • yea...im NEVER relaxing my hair again!

    love these videos!!!

  • I feel like I'm back in AP II classes, very informative! Do you have a degree in science?

  • You are terrific at explaining. Just wonderful!

  • you sound like a scientist...are u a pre-med student?

  • Now I finally understand why my hair is so not into the baking soda and ACV-thing. MY hair just felt horrible limp and stiff at the same time and no amount of ACV (which burns like hell and smells ...let's just say unpleasant)) could bring my curls back into life. So I just subscribed and count me in as a believer :-)

    Thanks a lot!

  • Kimmay I just want to say that you are so smart and I love what you do in your videos. It's nice to see someone who knows how to support what they say with facts instead of just opinion. I've been following your hair advice for the past couple months, so far it's helped me!! :D thanks and please keep up the fantastic job you are doing.

  • They should require business to put a pH level on their products... it'll make things much eaiser.. BTW Great Videos so far.. Next :)

  • wow, thank you, I am educating myself lol

  • i dont think i get sebum and if i do i dont notice it..? is that normal?

  • Thanks Kim, I like the video. I think it is important to have the fact and get also frustrated with people who are really opinionated but don't seem to have scientific facts to back it up. I might disagree with you though when you make fun of natural things: just because it's natural doesn't mean it's good for you, however in my experience natural has always beaten the synthetics. I guess though I don't much experience as you do (or rather different experiences).

    Thanks for the video!

  • what happened to part 4?

  • i'm the only one whose hair gets nappier than ever with baking soda?

  • @deonnanaxoxo Yea, my experience with BS and ACV are entirely the opposite. My hair tangles and feels rough. That's consistent with the cuticle being lifted. The PH of baking soda is always 8.1. Most non-PH balanced shampoos are also 8. I think it would burn your skin if it was above 10. Also you can't test oil products with PH strips. That's why the strips are so predictable. They aren't working.

  • can you share if you use apple cider rinses? what is the step by step process you use?

  • Hi Kim,

I just wanted to say thank you for all your videos. I am learning about pH and how it applies to hair. My question is what do you use to moisturize your hair from day to day? Also do you seal with an oil? All my oils are on the alkaline side ranging from 5-6 so wouldnt that lift my cuticles?

    Thanks again,

    SherinaMTL

  • To those wondering about the pH of certain oils: pH refers to the hydrogen ion concentration in an aqueous solution. Olive oil and other oils are not water soluble so their acidity cannot be measured in terms of pH.

  • I had to watch a few times, but I now understand why products like henna, bentonite clay, baking soda and even castille soap (big shocker) have certain effects (softening, dryness, looser curls), and need such deep conditioning afterwards. I now know to save the bentonite clay for my blemishes, the baking soda for my teeth, the Bronners for my laundry, and the henna for my tattoos - not for my hair. This is really excellent information, and I truly appreciate all of your work. Thanks for posting.

  • Love the videos, a true fan! keep it up. Just ordered the PH strips from your site. Thanks.

  • how can u use lemon juce to clean ur hair

  • how can u use lemon juice to clean your hair nd wat iz dilutated

  • Sebum if I am not mistaken is also what covers fetuses and newborn babies. Washing a newborn means washing away the sebum, which in essence is washing away the baby's natural protection against bacteria, fungus and infection,. The sebum of a newborn should be rubbed deeper into the skin and not washed away. I know it sounds "gross" but it has health benefits. Just my 2 cents. :-)

Back to our regularly scheduled program.

  • what can i do to restore my pH balance after dyeing my hair. i dyed it darker with a demi-permanent color to cover the gray?

  • Thank you for your hard work and the time it took to educate us. I am a medium maintenance type of person, and I appreciate your sarcasm. B/C I can be as well. I thank you again for your time and will be buying the DVD when it comes out. I have learned so much and I am truly greatful. Please keep making informative videos.

  • Brilliant young lady. very helpful info. Educational, not just your opinions, FACTS

  • Kim, this is INCREDIBLE knowledge! I am completely blown away. Girl, I've been taking notes on all four of your videos like I'm in school. I even drew out the little pH balance charts in my note book and EVERYTHING LOL! You're rekindling my love for science here. Girl ya got me looking at Chemistry curriculums! LOL! This is incredibly interesting and will help me a GREAT deal in the future. I'm hooked and you made it SO easy to understand! THANK YOU so much for sharing this knowledge with us!

  • this woman is good, i give her the thumbe up

  • So, if my hair is relaxed, is it possible to take out the relaxer with Apple Cider Vinegar since hair relaxers are Alk?

  • This right here made me cry. I feel extremely foolish. Simple CHEMISTRY can solve my problems with my hair.

  • Thank you so much for the knowledge...you are dropping science girl!

  • Thanks for this video, I now get it! Thats why in a relaxer kit it says neutralising shampoo. To bring the hair back to the acidic side of the ph balance right?

  • This vid was very informative. I had actually had an opposite reaction to baking soda washes in the past (drying my hair out) but its interestinig how you have made the comparison between it and acv to relaxers and neutralizers. Wow...never thought of it like that. Now on to vid 4!

  • this video is great and makes so much sense and makes me question what i had been doing to my hair for so long...

  • Hey Kim, video is some months old but, testing the pH of my hair products and things I use on my hair has intrigued me. I have not received my pH strips yet but in doing research of the pH of certain oils I use for my hair I found (in research, not tested) that the pH of olive oil is a 9!! YES a 9!! Olive oil is alkali which is why it is suggested for healthy eating. To me it makes since but I still have to test it for myself. In researching wheat germ oil is found that its pH is a 4.25

  • I honestly understand now why i have some of the issues that you mentioned. Before i did my bc i had a problem with dandruff and other scalp issues. After i did my bc i know longer had those issues. You think i would have learned from that but no. I decided i wanted to dye my hair and as soon as i did this i started having the same problems with my scalp. I am in the process of growing the dye out now b/c it'sjust not worth it Thank you for this information. It really really helps us!!

  • just lettin everybody know, i had the fungi on my scalp under control until i used a bakin soda rinse and it came back. but its the only thing that gets my hair clean from build up/white residue as i cant use soap

  • @kimmaytube, also, what would you think of the use of Bentonite Clay and why? I read online that it has a ph of about 9.

  • Hi kim,

I am a cosmetology student in Jamaica, and these video about the " structure of the hair" are very informative. It help me a lot with my theory learning lessons. Thank you very much for these video lessons

  • Nice video. I have a question. I understand that the pH range of hair is considered by some to be between 4.5 to 5.5. But how do you define what is an acceptable pH for the hair, scientifically. Is it just based on your judgement ( say 2 to 3 order of magnitude below or above the hair ph range is ok) or is it based on any "scientific fact" that you mentioned and that I failed to catch?

  • I'm so glad that I found these videos!! I was seriously considering doing a deep conditioning treatment with baking soda. I did not know that it could have the same affect as a mild relaxer b/c of ph levels.. I just went natural too :( I seriously thought that not using chemicals was better for my hair.. Thanks for the info!!

  • your smart you sound like my sciene teacher she always talking about ph balance

  • Thank you so much for taking the time to do the research and share this information with us. Btw, you would make an excellent instructor. :-)

  • I love how you cite your sources! It's so term paperish (I hate term papers but when it comes to personal health it's important to have tested and reliable sources). Citing your sources also builds credibility. Of course you were already credible but now in a scientific capacity here on the tube! :)

  • i know u hate when ppl use ur vids without ur permission.. IDK if they did this without ur permission, but someone uploaded a ur vid on their YT page.

i tried osting a link, but for somereason it wouldnt post. just type in ph and hair in the search bar and go down to the 10th video by russrusswoo. they have the same vid but in a crappy quality

  • @gigglez1101

Thank you SO much! :o) I just filed a DMCA complaint with Youtube. Fortunately, they make it very easy for us to report violators.

But I wouldn't have known had it not been for you. Thank goodness for people who look out for others!

I see a few videos of a few other people over there. So I'm going to notify them as well.

    Take care,

    Kim

  • @kimmaytube NO prob at all! :-) yea i saw a whole host of videos that they stole, but ur vid was the only one i recognized... hopefully YT takes care of the situation completely. Keep on doing ur great vids and know that u have ppl on the look-out. :-)

  • nice info

  • how do you know if your hair has a normal acidic balance?

  • Thanks for the info! Since watching this series I have been paying attention to pH of what I put into my hair. I went swimming yesterday and didnt wash my hair last night. I feel SO bad because I researched and the pH of pool water can be up to 8 (ideally 7.4 to 7.6)! Time to go pamper my strands!!!!

  • Dr. Bonner's Castile soap seems very moisturizing to my hair, however to make the oils in to a soap they use sodium hydroxide to make the oils turn into soap. They insist that the sodium hydroxide disappears in the process and that it will have no effect on my hair. It doesn't seem to affect it, but I am wondering if this product is not good for my hair...

  • Great informative video......you have a way of explaining yourself clearly and to the point...love it :)

  • I absolutely love your videos!!! I so understand things when you explain them since I am a science major. I would never have thought to think of science and my hair!!! Keep them coming! Plus if you make a dvd i would buy it! Stay strong!! People don't like change or to be proven wrong!!! You are WONDERFUL!

  • Your videos are all so informative! Thank you for taking the time in putting these together. And I WILL be buying your DVD- can't wait!

  • oh by the way, i love ur videos... thankyou so much for educating us on what is good and bad for our hair. I really appreciate it

  • i am freaking out now, i have used the baking soda treatment three times, does that mean my hair is damaged. And i usually use egg yolk, coconut milk and a mild protein conditioner monthly as a protein treatment, is that bad?, should i stop

  • Thank you, love your videos!

  • Hi Kimmay! Great video! Questions:

    1) Have you tested the pH of the lanolin, and also vegetable glycerin?

    2) Would you recommend making a water mixture with a bit of lanolin to re-moisturize in a spritzer?

I'm looking for a way to refresh my hair without applying too much product as to avoid build-up.

  • @AyannaNaeela, oils do not have a pH because the don't release hydrogen ions when mixed in water. I use olive oil mixed in water and I do not have a problem with build up. I co-wash 1-2 times weekly.

  • thanks, for your time and info. Like I said before you rock.Cyant wait for the next video.

  • So informative. Thanks!

  • Very informative. PH balance is also important in our health. Our bodies respond more positively to alkaline foods and water ...as our body is always trying to balance itself. When our body is in an alkaline state, disease does not happen. It's when the body is acidic that our health degenerates.

  • thanks Kimmay for this video series, i really appreciate your time and effort you put into your videos...ur the best.....thanks for the imformation i too be believe that one has to be a common sense natural.....the information is what it is...right?...lol ;)

  • Preach it siser! the fasts taht it and not opinions!

  • I am simply amazed at how much time and work, and information that you put into this series. I've been growing my hair for 2 years, and spent countless hours on discussion boards and here on youtube, yet I've never taken the time to understand the "science" of hair care. Thanks so much for these videos!

  • I was thinking of highlighting my hair this weekend but I've totally changed my mind after seeing where dye falls on the chart. Another great video Kimmay. I'll keep my hair black and just keep on growing it.

Can't wait for the final installment.

  • very informative. thanks. looking forward to the next installment.

  • Thanks Girl I learned something new.

  • Wow thankyou.. VERY VERY informative.

  • ooohhhh, i cant wait for the next installment!

  • Do you feel there is ever a right time to lift the cuticle? Like when doing a deep conditioning treatment which contains protein in might be useful to lift the cuticle with something slightly alkaline like black soap so that the conditioning treatment can get under the cuticle. And then rather than neutralising the hair, rinsing with cold water to close the cuticle again?

  • @MadamePepper to continue... just so we can avoid the back and forth with the p.H. balance.

  • @MadamePepper

Hey there! :o) Heat lifts the cuticles of the hair strand as well. Deep conditioning with heat in order to lift the cuticles actually has some benefits (according to author Paula Begoun).

But heat & alkalines do not have the same effect because alkalis cause a chemical reaction. Hair HAS to be neutralized when alkaline treaments are used or else the chemicals will keep working. Cool water is not enough. Alkalis 8pH+ are (100 - 10,000x) outside of the hair's norm.

  • My views about hair have changed so much since tuning in to your videos. I hit APL in 14 months of being natural (and I started at 1 inch long) because of your help. This series just took it up another notch, especially this part. I look at things so differently where my hair AND skin are concerned. Thanks for this series!

  • Nice!!! I LOVE the scientific portions of your videos. They are so informative... I'm such science nerd! :-)

  • Hi Kimmay. Thank you for your wonderful and informative videos. I didn't find your message at the top whiny at all. Keep doing exactly what you're doing. There are many of us who love your vids (Like me LOL).

  • thanks for the video! will your subbies be able to purchase your DVD?

  • Thank you for the time you put in to provide such thorough information. It is refreshing to have someone speak scientifically and not just emotionally or opinionated. I really look forward to all that you share.

  • You should really get your cosmetologist license. You would be a great instructor and could help more people in accuracy. :)

  • Someone said lanolin was bad, I'll send you the video when I find it, It might of been something else and it might of been too much was bad

  • @annebreal disregard this comment I missed the post on the video saying it's not recommended for hair

  • I'm still having trouble processingm but I don't expect you to go into any more detail if even possible. I'm too worried about PH levels right now I figure I seem to be doing alright with what I'm doing right now I'll figure this out later... Your videos are very useful however confused or disagreeable anyone else is. Keep doing you

  • never boring................never too much info.........and most of all never in vain...........its appreciated...your efforts and you are appreciated

  • great work, very informative.

  • Thank you so much for this video and all of the time you have put into this series. It's very informative and educational. I am just started wearing my hair natural (January of this year), and all of your videos have truly helped me with styling my hair. :-)

  • Kim, how do you use your ACV without following it behind baking soda? And why would you need to use it if you didn't do baking soda? I have a big jar of ACV I need to get rid of! Thanks!

  • I love your channel lady !! You rock and the information that you provide for us laymen is awesome ! Please let us know when that DVD is coming out, and though you won't present any super informational videos anymore, please give us a lil somethin every now and then :-) :-D

  • Thank you for sharing. I had no idea that these products had this effect. I do not use either much, but I do use black soap. In future, I will test the ph factor before using. I am keen to keep my cuticles laying flat, as I have 4b very tangly hair. On another tact, thank you for the time taken. I can relate to your choice to put researched information on a DVD. Any idea when it will be available? I would be interested in purchasing one.

  • Thank you for this series, Kimmay :) I've recently kind of fried my hair with chemical dyes, and your videos have helped me to learn why and how to nurse it back to health. Your hard work is so appreciated - please keep your wonderful videos coming! xx

  • I have used baking soda about twice and each time I have I noticed a huge difference with they way the ends of my hair feel, always rough and dry. I thought it was me the first time but after the second I decided to never to use it again b/c I would always ends up having to trim my hair right after.

WELL DONE kimmay! Keep the GOOD info coming!

  • Thanks so much for your hard work and informative videos. You've helped me to make more educated decisions, and have also inspired me to do research rather just jumping on the bandwagon when it comes to what I put on my hair. I'm 9 mos. natural and I just wish I had this information earlier. I'm dedicated to reaching my goal of having healthy hair, and your videos certainly are helping me take steps in the right direction. Keep up the awesome work. It is very much appreciated!

  • I appreciate these videos. Thanks for continuing to provide interesting and informative videos. I would like to ask you, do you have and experience or knowledge about henna hair treatments?

  • Kim, you should make a book and I'll definitely buy it!

  • Love the video, I can not wait 4 your DVD!!!!

  • Never knew that was sebum. I would scratch at my scalp after washing and if there was anything under my fingernails, assume it was dirty and wash it some more. Now I'll just leave it. Thanks for saving my hair - once again!

  • thanks for this video.

  • I love the fact that you provide so much insight and information to others through RESEARCH not OPINION!!! Well done on this video series. Looking forward to the last installment.

Sidebar: I find myself checking YouTube daily looking for your new videos. Kinda hurry up with this one!!! I hate to be kept waiting when I'm trying to learn something important!!! *wink* *wink* Thanks again!!!

  • So since black soap has a PH of 7.0 - 8.0 is that also bad for our hair???

  • @tla925 If I'm not mistaken, if the pH is 7 it's neutral... 8 is slightly alkaline. If the pH of black soap is 7-8 I would assume it's much safer than baking soda! At least I hope so, because I use black soap to wash my hair as well... but it doesn't loosen my curl pattern. It just softens my hair and I find it much less harsh than many of the shampoos I've tried. Hoping Kimmay will respond to this quesiton.

  • @LhoreBaby - thanks for your feedback. I wanted to try it.. I hope Kimmay responds as well

  • @LhoreBaby

If you like using it, you should continue using it. I only made these videos to inform people of what's really going on when pH is involved. Most shampoos on the shelf are "pH balanced" meaning they are in the "do no harm" range pH wise (4.5- 7.0). Baking soda (8.3) falls out of that range. Shampoos are drying because soap molecules take things away. But some of these alkaline substances do the same thing, just differently.

  • @tla925

I have no idea. I've never tested it. From what I understand, black soap is a mixture of oils & ash from leaves/bark of a tree or plant. There seems to be a variety of ways to make it. The overall point I'm making here is that alkalis do what they do. Doesn't matter if they're made of pure natural ingredients or if they come from the earth. All that matters is the hydrogen ratio in ANY substance. That determines how it will function.

  • @kimmaytube Now I'm starting to wonder about continuing the use of black soap as a shampoo. Unless I incorporate an ACV rinse. I guess I am taking my hair on that pH roller coaster ride after all. Just not so many hills and valleys so to speak. Thanks again for the insight into this issue. Job well done!!!

Oh and I too thought that white build-up on my scalp was dirt moistened by water after washing my hair... I'd rub my scalp vigorously to remove it. NO MORE! That sebum is here to stay!

  • Keep begging to differ, Kim! LOL !! A+

  • Thank you so much Mrs Kim for all you have done to educate all of us on a much deeper level. I am so excited for your love of hair and your willingness to help others love their hair! I cannot wait until you decide to share your understanding of how to best ph-balance homemade hair products! I am trying to make my own and I heard you allude to your own leave-in you are working on in one of your videos! I bet it is right on! Good work!!

  • These videos have been like reading a good book cant wait to turn the next page! This is great information you continue to put in the work to give us quality, accessible, easy to understand, education about our hair and hair care. If YouTube had an award show like the Oscars or Grammys I am most sure you would be awarded for your work great job and keep um coming! PS I dont know about anyone else but I always feel like a scientist after watching these videos lol THANKS :)

  • Comment removed

  • Wow, good information to know!! There is so much conflicting information regarding "natural" hair care regimens....but like you say, it's hard to disagree with science! Thanks so much for putting these lecture series together!!

  • Thank you for the lesson. Execellent fact based information.

  • I love this video its very informative. I've never agreed with using baking soda. I've explaining it to people but I'm just going to tell them to look you up, the visuals will really help them understand :). I've been using ACV for 2 years for my dandruff and scalp issues. I very rarely feel any burning does that mean my shampoo has a good PH range?

  • Thank you so much for taking the time out to do these videos. They are loaded with valuable information. I just started my natural journey this year and these videos have greatly impacted how I take care of my hair. I love science and it is awesome to visually see the science behind hair care. Keep the videos coming. They are greatly appreciated!

  • So cool. You could have your own hair show lol. You videos are so professional. I am very grateful for all the work you put into your videos.

  • I too am grateful not only for this video, but for all the time, information, and vulnerability you have shared with us. And if you're still going to do them, I am sooo looking forward to a fashion show!! Blessings!!

  • Keep them coming...

  • This is an excellent video. I love your hair series.

  • Holy cow! I feel like you opened a door into my head. Excellent vid!

  • Love this video! I knew that baking soda should only be used for oder and brushing your teeth ( old school ) lol! Keep up the good work . Tip: Its good to take apple cider viniger to help lower cholestrol and help fight off those bad germs that keeps us sick.

  • Thanks very much for taking your own time to gather the facts for us...I really enjoy learning from you. Question: I just used the baking soda and warm water mixture followed by the ACV rinse for the very first time over this past weekend...would you advise that this is not good to do? Don't want to ruin my hair doing something harmful. Thanks! ;)

  • @kimmaytube

Keep up your good work! Your videos made a BIG difference on how I treat my hair now. My hair is healthier than ever. I'm falling in love with my hair again. THANK YOU ;)

  • @sweetygemie

Thank YOU for taking the time to let me know. :o)

  • I'm very grateful for this video, so much information! Thanks!

  • @GiaMoOnX

Aw, you are welcome! Thank you for motivating me. Sometimes I think it's information overload. lol. I do the best I can to try to keep it interesting. :o)

  • Thanks for another awesome video, Kimmaytube! I understand and support your decision to cease spending 80+ hours on providing FREE (and sometimes under-appreciated) detailed information. Therefore, If and when you ever release a DVD about hair care, you have at least one sold right here. I'm serious. The quality of information and video production are so worth it!

  • My prayers have been answered. I've been waiting for this video :-). Thanks for taking your time in making this structure series. God Bless.

  • @NEPH80

    :o)

You all are too much! Thanks for the positivity and encouragement. :o)

  • Excellent!! This is so informative. I knew a little of this, but never really considered what it is doing to my scalp and hair. Thanks so much Kimmay. Looking forward to the next.. Continued blessings.. Peace..

  • i learn every time dog on it i might as well stop making videos LOL j.k

    Love the vids

  • great video. luv u!!!!

  • Love the information thanks!!!

  • @kimmaytube

I beg to differ :) I've been natural for over 2 years and your videos have been the most insightful thing that I have seen. Before this I didn't know anything about hair pH and had little knowledge about hair strucure. You have expanded my knowledge and I beg you to continue with these videos! People will always gloss over the important details but there are those who want more than that!

    Take care!

    -Joy

  • @jaajayi

Your comment really uplifts and humbles me. :o) I'm REALLY passionate about teaching & helping other people along their various journeys. Hair is important to people. It is our crown! We spend so much money & TIME on it.

So to hear that I've made a difference to someone with my little videos (lol) makes it all feel worthwhile. Thank you.

I didn't say I was going to stop making videos. I said I'm going to stop putting 80+ hours into them. That's the difference! ;o)

  • super video - thanks!!!!!

  • This is very informative, and I like how much information you've put in. My one criticism would be while you speak very clearly, it sounded like you were yelling into the microphone which is a bit distracting.

  • @RoxStew5

I'm using a new microphone and I haven't quite gotten the hang of it yet. How ironic, in my last video, I got complaints that I wasn't speaking loud or clearly enough for them to hear!

Classic case of "you can't please everyone".

  • Thank you, Kimmay!!!

  • That was a wonderfully detailed video!

I myself have dyed hair, its porous and often dry, After I shampoo & condition, I do a finally rise with a 2tbs AVC (infused with Hops&Hisbiscus) + cool water, I do this to close down my hair shaft and lock in the goodies& moisture from the conditioner. Its good to the science behind why this has worked so well for me. Thank you!

  • @hondahx

:o) See? It all make sense! I'm a visual learner myself and when the facts came together, well, all the better. Keep doing what you're doing. Sounds like you have a good regimen to better preserve your hair. Since it is more porous (due to the dyeing) water will be your friend. Seal & protect those ends to keep them from breaking sooner than they have to.

  • Thanks Kimmy for all the work you do...it is greatly appreciated! I can't believe people are attacking you for providing factual information. Just let your haters be your motivators. God Bless!

  • Great videos! Even if folks disagree, they should look into it for themselves.

  • Thanks so much for the information is very helpful I have to been honest and say that I have the tried the baking soda wash and experienced some problems now I know what my hair and scalp had such a negative reaction to the baking soda please keep up the good work and i will most defintely purcase the DVD once its ready.

  • Very clear, concise and too the point.

It reminds us to always investigate what we hear instead of blind fellowship.

    You Rock!

  • Another great job, Kimmay!

  • Can't wait to get my DVD!!!!

Go girl what your doing is great work. Thank you a million times for your hard work!!

    God bless you!!

  • Very useful information to further research.

  • wow...thanks for all of the helpful/educational info. I actually stopped using baking soda and ACV a long time ago. I'm glad to know that I made the right choice :)

  • Kimmy thank you so much for putting this information out there. I have been using this method for cleansing every now and then because I heard it was good for my hair. I am shocked to that this can be just as damaging as a relaxer to the hair shaft. I have only been natural for the past 8 months but I don't want cause damage to the hair that i am trying to grow out. Thank you for doing this research.

  • SOOO informative! keep at it girl! you're definitely a wealth of information.

  • Thanks for providing us with this in-depth study about our hair. It has been a great and informative series. Now I know how to better care for my hair and my daughter's hair.

  • That is why we use baking soda to unclog drain when hair has clogged it

  • interesting video - i use diluted apple cider vinegar regularly and i have tried the baking soda before... but for some reason it didnt seem to really clean my hair as well, and my hair was also overly soft - almost mushy..? my scalp was also really itchy. I went ahead and switched back to ACV rinses and my hair and scalp are fine. After seeing this video i have a better idea of why that happened. i used to do the same extra cleansing on my scalp too with the 'sebum'.. no more :) thanks!!
