  • keep at it! this was one of the pieces i performed at a charity concert for israel when i was 16 in recommended time, just takes daily practice and a small tower for all the sweat hehe

  • wow...how old are you? great job ;)

  • mmmm needs too much practice

  • great girl keep the good work,,i absolutely loved it,,it is my fav piece by rahmaninov

  • try learning this piece slowly, and seperate hands and make sure al the notes come out, and follow the dynamics..becuase the level was very flat in most parts..might have been the camera but whatever..try not hiitting the notes but play them as they were a pillow you want to lay on..if you know what i mean..overall wasnt bad..but not good..but keep working on it! Im not trying to trash you out..just a little constructive criticism, please dont take it the wrong way :)

  • Keep pursuing your dream. Ignore all the haters; nothing makes them more annoyed.

  • lovely sound! try sustaining more in the right hand octaves, especially the melody notes w/ the pinky... hold and even try to overlap with the next note. my hands are wayyy too small and i'm doing octaves up and down just trying to stretch :-/

  • @TDmann100 do you mean has lol?

  • Astronomicaly admirable :)

  • thts a very nice grotrian you have,im planning to buy the 277 in 2 years time for my nmusic room

  • good piano :)

  • calm and relaxed....

  • That's a really nice piano.

  • Everyone who is criticizing her, why don't you try and play this piece, post it and lets see how well you can play it.

It was great to listen to!

  • lovely, keep up the practice.

  • She really masters a piece, seems to understand it so thoroughly as she plays. A great pleasure to listen to.

  • This is terrific! You have a lot of talent, and your practice is paying off. Keep up with your music - it will remain with you all your life. Always be grateful, for you have been given a gift that most people do not have. Use it and share it as you have here, and always be proud of yourself! Great job!!

  • @hoagylover +1 Everything you said. I'm not sure what the ignorant comments are all about. This is not an easy piece to play whatsoever. She is doing an amazing job with to have brought it up to this level and from memory too. Does the performance remain unsatisfactory until it is perfected ? You really think this piece can ever be perfcted by anyone ? Good job my dear keep up the hard work, wish I could play like you !!

  • Should have ended in 1:27. The rest is just awful.

  • I am not informed enough to give you the correct comment about your performance. I am gonna be in time :)

    You are admirable

  • the 30 easiest measures from the prelude lol, but good job nonetheless

  • Nice job! Why not post the entire piece? If the rest sounds this good, I would. I think you have a little ways to go with this yet but it sounds like it's coming along quite nicely! (You're also inspiring me to give this a try!)

  • fabulous:)

  • wonderful instrument!!!! But the rest..... poor us!!!!!

  • I always wanted a girlfriend who I could relate to on a musical level

  • Can you play the entire piece and post it please?

  • im 16 and im learning this piece also! how old are you by any chance?

  • I like your style... Bravo, Cecelia!

  • youre fantastic girl!

  • i'd love to hear you play chopin's polonaise in ab maj, or beethoven's moonlight, 3rd movement, or chopin's revolutionary etude. awesome. and i bet you can do it too. you're really very, very good.

  • im so jealous!!!1 :(

  • wow, very nicely played. I love the tempo you're in, I prefer it to the really fast versions you here.

  • where do you find women like this?

  • the way her hands move !!! seamless....

  • beautiful sweeping arpeggios and phrasing and i love the way your staccatos are played at 1:28 they are just chilling.I'm learning this piece now but im taking it very slow lol to help me improve my rhythm and just for the fun

  • Currently this song is one of my goals.. i'll learn it for sure... thanks for being my inspiration...

  • this is so easy for you to play,,,

and all i hear is music....

the bass line 9notes... truly opens the piece up for such beautiful melody...

    bravo

    douglas

  • Bravo!

  • Sei veramente molto brava!

  • xD lovely piano you got there, im still stuck at the left hand for this part.. =/

  • You are talented. My teacher wants me to learn this song to control my speed (I like to play very fast)... but I talked him into letting me learn the appasionata instead! (Beethovens op.57 sonata 23. I'd would be very intrested to hear you in a few years.

  • @JohnnyFlannigan81 Dude... How can you play the Appassionata "instead" of this prelude? This prelude is like 5-6 pages and the Appassionata is about 20 pages or smth, and it's also more technically demanding!

  • HPIracing111 and Craig 7233,

if you guys think you can do better, so post a vid doing so!!!!

  • Es increible como dominas el piano, INCREIBLE.

  • you have no idea how lucky you are to have such a nice piano, mine is such a piece of garbage, the action on the keys feels like your playing on a sponge there is almost no responsiveness, it is absolutely horrid on my piano D:

  • That sounds EXACTLY like one of my bad dreams when starting to play a piano!! Except that it gets worst; the keys metamorphize into something like a sponge or something :(

And most of the time, the keys become unseparated to where I have to guess where different notes are! Of course this is all a dream symbol(s)- representing something utterly different than playing the piano in waking life- but it's still a drag . . .

  • eh............ in case you don't know.... she is doing slow motion practice and the notes are pretty clean....... are you a piano performance major or something? Do you even know what you are talking about? I think this little girl is doing what she is supposed to be doing.

  • benjami- Get a clue, man. I was responding to HPIracing111's comment. Maybe you don't know what YOU"RE talking about.

  • playing the beginning part a little to fast there

  • great ! awesome !

  • Well done!

  • Excelent!

  • Excelente ejecucion, te felicito.

  • Please upload a video with the complete piece. Is always glad to listen to you

  • I liked your interpretation very much of one of my favorite Rach. preludes, You shape the long singing phrases very beautifully with a warm singing tone. Bravo!~

  • i would have prefered the other part as well :(

  • Excelent.

  • Excellent playing piano, *****

  • I would suggest the Dvd if you want to watch it. Title of the movie is "Ruth Slenczynska: A Tribute to Rachmaninoff" I rented it from Netflix. Keep up the hardwork. Rachmaninoff is a monster, a beast waiting to devour anyone who isn't strong enough. Lovely playing! I hope to play with this much sense one day soon.

  • Very well controlled and expressive. My already diggin into Rachmaninoff. I remember a dvd from netflix of Ruth Slenczynska playing some Rachmaninoff preludes, she did this in 1963. She had an interview before she played the preludes with someone. He was asking her about her experience with Rachmaninoff as a kid and Josef Hoffman. Such said things as, Rachmaninoff commenting on her playing whens he played his pieces, that she plays like a girl. Even though at the time she was a little girl.

  • хорошо играеш

  • Что такое igraesh?

  • njet, njet autsim

  • Maravillosa interpretacion, te felicito.

  • You make it look so easy. Beautiful playing!

  • Really quite impressive! I don't know many (how old are you? sorry if I mistake your age) 12 13 or 14 years can play this beautifully!

It's beautiful! Expressive! Passionate! Phrased and voiced perfectly!

  • I love the way you play.

    Beautiful music!

    Thnx forposting. :-))

  • Fantasticno (fancifully )

    Perfektno (perfect)

  • Hii little girl...

    Teach meee :)

  • Beautiful performance!

  • You do convey your emotion well, but the trick of this song is too such in the right speed, which indeed is hard.

Additionally, you need to emphasize the second melody more, which shouldn't be that hard in this tempo (the middle part is supposed to be played at 90 - 100).

And most importantly, you should learn the whole piece, there are some other magnificent parts in it. ^^

  • Bravissima, very good.*****

  • Very good !

  • Very expressive! I like the way how you return to the faster speed again :)

  • brava!!!!!!

  • WONDERFULL!!

  • Very beautiful!

  • very good

  • Thank You! :)

  • Lovely thanks Cecilia......

  • I think if you play the piano so i can on some years buy you CD.

  • very good playing !!

  • Just what a lot of us asked, longer segments, that was beautiful!!! thanks for sharing your talent with us

  • Good to see you posting again. Marvelous job - that's not an easy piece. You already have quite the precision required for most of Rachmaninoff's compositions. Bravo!

  • I really like your tempo through the transition; the slower movement offers an insight into your interpretation of the piece as you complete your technical development of it (you're quite the old soul). -voicing is nice also.

It's been nice to watch this come together, and I'm looking forward to seeing the whole piece. When you post it, will you please send it in an e-mail to your You Tube friends also? This will allow me to forward it to my students (ensuring viewing!).

  • Very beautiful !!!!!!!

  • Do you have plans to major in music in college?

and If so, have you begun training in aurals? Your going to need it.

  • Excellent! Enjoyed it.

  • Wonderful! Great to see you practicing this piece! Rachmaninoff's music is magical, isn't it?

  • This is just inspiring. :D

  • Played with emotion. Beautiful!

  • Amazing! Loved this, as I do all your vids. Thanks for posting.

  • Do all your compositions without touching the score?!!

  • To me, music is the most compelling evidence of God. You must be an angel! And thank you for all your hard work.

As to Rachmininoff versus other composers for your age, do you choose your pieces or does your teacher?

    All the best!

  • magical...

  • Incredibly impressive as always! But, please...hold the bloody camera still!

    (soFisticated??? An oxymoron in print...)

  • I have not previously heard this piece but it looks quite difficult to perfect. I enjoyed your effort.

    In tune

    Lalita

  • Brava!

  • congratulations and......... happy birthday

  • I like your interpretation and technique.

Thank you for upload more of Rachmaninoff.

Happy Birthday Celia! I wish best for you and I hope all of your wishes may come true!

    Marco

  • Oh yeah, and Happy Birthday.

  • Just because someone is young, they can still learn it! Of course the interpretation will change as they get older, but you can't set an age limit to learn it, lol

  • You're right, there is no age limit, I just fail to see the reason for putting in so many hard hours into this piece, when she could do it for something easier that would turn out better, and more sofisticated.

  • Should she be playing it? I say, why not? Music is always a work in progress. Everything improves as years go by. Having this as a starting point is a great place. The pieces you learn when you are young like this stay with you forever. Pieces I learned at her age are still memorized with no refreshing. Rachmaninoff takes many hours to learn at any time you learn it. Youth have more time than adults. Now is the time to learn as much as possible. So I say "Bravo" Keep up the great work, Cecelia!

  • Happy birthday and excellent work.

  • Happy Birthday! Thanks for the great video!

  • Thanks! :)

  • Happy birthday! Thanks for this gift to us on your birthday!

  • Happy birthday Cecelia! You are a brilliant pianist! (*^^*)

  • Amazing ! ! :) Happy birthday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    You are amazing

Its always pleasure to watch you play.

    --

Yes, I also think the acoustic in the room helps the sound, but it is not only there I can see soft press and hear more-or-less loud sound. My guessing is I pressed an old piano.

I really enjoy your new videos I like it. You are one of the best artists I know

  • Happy Birthday Celia!

Keep up with the great piano skills!!

  • Quite a difficult and dramatic piece for your birthday! I hope that 13 brings you your greatest piano success yet.

  • Congratulations for turning 13. You are certainly becoming a great pianist!

  • Well, my Dear Celia, you have chosen a difficult work for your birthday! In fact, more dangerous than rally difficult: the leaps are hard to master and it is full of chords and octaves. Rather tiring to play, especialy "live". I hope you had a wonderful birthday. We have been missing you a lot!

  • Hey Celia, everyone's wishing you a happy birthday, so I guess your a year older. My haven't you grown, you were just a little tot....Keep making the world more beautiful with music. You are bringing joy to many people like me!

PS When are you going on tour? I'd pay to see you live!

  • Beautiful! Please post the whole thing.

  • You sound beautiful as always. :) Happy B-day. And wish you many many more.

  • Happy Birthday, Celia! You play so beautifully!

  • Happy birthday! you played wonderful as always =)

  • Many happy returns!!! Hope you have a wonderful day :]

  • Happy Birthday! you're skills still wow me. =X

  • Very good! Happy birthday!

  • HAPPY BIRTHDAY CELIA! So beautiful! Can't wait to hear the rest!

  • Many happy returns, Celia! Thanks for sharing. By the way: in 'labels' you have typed Op. 3 no. 5. The caption however is Op. 23 no. 5. Which one should it be?

  • Thanks! :) It should be Op. 23 no. 5. I always hit the wrong keys. Or I forget to strike the keys.

  • On the contrary. I think you strike the keys beautifully. Oh... you meant those other keys. Silly me!

  • oh my, you are now officially a teenager - Happy Birthday! Thank you for sharing this with us on your special day!

  • Thank you for watching! :) I wish I could share my birthday cake, too. I just made an orange cinnamon poppy seed cake. It gets orange cream cheese frosting later.

  • That sounds DELICIOUS, especially the frosting! Just have a triple serving for me, Gabriel and Ben!

  • My brother Gabriel will have a triple, too. :)

  • You have a brother also named Gabriel? That is very cool. Does he play any musical instruments like you?

  • His name is Gabriel. My 10 year old brother messes around on the piano, guitar, and violin from time to time. He imitates some of the music I play or he makes up stuff. But, he doesn't take lessons, perform publically, or compete because he doesn't want to.

  • Thanks! :) I probably played this better when I was 12. :)

  • Hermosas manos tienes, ya que con ellas interpretas bella musica

  • Happy Birthday

  • Very impressed and very nice. Happy Birthday.

  • thanks! :)
