i have always had respect for both PETN is military grade and AP is homeade grade but they both can easily kill you

The problem is that you need more than "household ingredients" to do PETN. :S

There are so many initiating explosives which are much(!) more secure than those peroxides, so why do u use them? They are not even more easy to synthesize, take a look at silver acetylide, or if u have access to toxic substances, Silveracide. Silveracide is the most easiest IE i've ever made, and its quite secure.

i guess you are talking about silver azide. and not, is not "quite secure", most silvers salts are very unstable. lead azide is your best zide choice.

But anyway you are rigth, i really belive organic peroxides to be the worst of all primary explosives.

First of all, organic peroxides are no primary explosives. Second: silver salts are just unstable incause of her addiction to dissociate under UV-light. But this just make 'em useless, but not unsecure. I rather use silver azide than lead azide cause of its initialization power, which is 6x more powerfull than LA. Second reason is that the crystals of SA precipitate in very little forms, whereas LA crystalls (without dextrin) are long and big, and due to that very easy to break.

PETN actually won, but you hear and see more with the TATP, because it has a high detonation velocity. TATP has a RE of 0.83, PETN has 1.66. PETN is 66% more powerful than TNT, and TATP is only about 80% as powerful as TNT.

Actually, look at the damage afterwards. The PETn penetrated all the way through the PSU, while TATP made a dent. The epic sound was because of high VOD.

i would really like to see PETN vs mannitol hexanitrate. not many people knows about mannitol hexanitrate and is quite strong stuff. I would even see it as storng as HMX.

oh and btw, there is a test called the "lead block test". very similar to this video. PETN wins this match :D
