They also rely heavily on nationalism in order to keep the masses' attention away from the real issues facing the country. But the nationalism they are fomenting is of the highly aggressive, highly xenophobic sort.

Yes, I agree completely. There were too many deaths and it was a genocide but still not as worse of that from Ma and the Tibetan genocide still continues while natives are on their way back claiming their rights.

It's a shame what happened wit other cultures since 1890. First millions Native Americans around 1890, then millions Jewish in 45 and now millions Tibetans. How can we allow this? Oh I know, economics with China !!! Money, money, power and money, like it always was and maybe always will be. But somehow I still hope that we can stop.

I feel deeply sad for this and for them.

Nazi is right wing extremists. Maoist china is a left wing extreme - to the extent in 1934chinese Red army appointed a german national otto braun as its commander-in-chief. i don't think maoists are capable of racism.

Gee, the Stalinists were sure capable of racism. Weren't Kalmyks completely deported from their homeland to Siberia? There is no distinction between left and right WHEN THEY'RE BOTH TOTALITARIAN! My mother, who lived under both the Nazis and Stalinist Communists said there was absolutely no difference between the two regimes. I guess China only recently "cured" itself of its eternal interest in philosophy and decided to check out colonialism and militarism for itself. hehe
