Will someone with a gaited horse please post a video of good equitation? Little girls in the 5 gaited UPHA classes don't count. Please show me someone riding with their heels in alignment with their shoulders. Don't any of you try to tell me your heels go up by the horse's shoulders. They don't. Anyway, the horse is nice and is nice to put up with that horrid "riding".
@ferociousgumby I know on the TWH mare that I ride I could hold a glass of water without spilling it (if she neck reined) and by the looks of this horses gait I bet he could too! Its just getting that whole coordination thing down... Its a whole new world when you go this fast on a horse!
Okay...here's my question: Why does the horsemanship look so incorrect? I mean leaning way back behind the natural vertical, toes pointed down, heels up; some riders on these gaited horses even lean to the side and look at the ground! Can you not ride these horses with a centered riding style????
@mundymanor they call it that bc its the "second gear" (so to speak) in these horses - like the regular trot in a regular 3 gaited horse is "second gear" to them -TWH & racking horses can hit this "trot" gear in various speeds -when i ride with other riders & their quarter horses or other regular 3 gaited horses - my sweet ol' mare will hit the same speed as theyre going in their trot - only im not bouncing up &down! - its a COOL ride - smooooooth - i cant stand riding anything BUT a TWH now!
@RattieKarma -- Gotcha. I agree, the smoothness of a TW is the only way to ride--no bouncing or posting for me! My horse is barefoot and will be working with a bitless bridle, so no cruelty worries (some people hear "Tennessee Walker" and immediately assume I use the cruel bits, pads and chains, etc.).
How absolutely wondereful to see a REAL gaited horse instead of the cruel punishment some are putting their horses through. Common sense finally prevails along with love and humanity. I cried when I first saw the unfamous Germantown, Tn "shows?". God bless your trainers!!!!!!!

@Hudson2012 this horse u asked about is a Racking Horse - they are basically Tennessee Walking Horses that are not trained on tall boots and chains - they are allowed to just hit the natural "trot" and they do it FAST - u can find more info by googling " Wikipedia Racking Horse " -
that is such a beautiful gait! i love it. im having a horse from canada being shipped down so we can board him for the owner.. just wanted to get a heads up on what to expect. BEAUTIFUL! i love them
Alike maibritpetersenxb; I don't get why the riders sit like that. Shouldn't the horse be able to run much faster if the rider ride as in ordinary horseracing and have a small racing saddle? Although I don't know how it is about the balance of the horse if you sit that way, but I think that it would be more sufficient. (I ride racehorses, so out of own experience I know that it is better to sit like that.)
Pretty Boy Floyde is owned by Chris and Susie Laney of Indiana. Visit him at Rack M Up Single-Footers on the net. To see Pretty Boy Floyde in Action visit us at the 2009 Big Gun trail ride in Belvidere, Tn March 19-22.
OMG, WOW CAN HE MOVE!!! I did realize now after owning my 20 yr old Walker, that he Racks, his mystery gait is solved!! yeah Great looking horse, great mover... Wish I had a mare to breed to him!
I had a fillie colt 6/2/08 uot of Floyde and my strawberry roan mare.Believe it or not it's the same color of Floyde. The mare has two white hind stockings and a blaze. Floyde, Floyde's mommy, now Floyde's baby are blue roan with the black tips.May be for sale,I don't know yet.
Teresa this is a very nice video! Thanks Shawn for letting us buy Pretty Boy Floyde. He is a very well mannered Stallion. We enjoy trail riding him, and if you want to turn him on.He will go on down the road!I can't wait to see some of the foals. So you all please share photos and info as they are born.
Dave, good luck with your foal. I also have one due JUNE 20TH out of a STRAWBERRY ROAN mare and one due in NOV out of a BLUE ROAN mare. Should have plenty of color and speed soon! Don't know if colts are for sale yet. SHAWN McGUIRE
Floyde has been sold to a couple from Indiana. This horse was trail broke by Johny Hammond. When I got this horse from Johny he was aprox. 12 to 16mph. I started riding him with the Homer horse from London KY. ( Bual Bush was the rider of Homer. He can be seen at Paceon37 on Youtube.)Homer pushed Floyde and got him to where he is now. Homer was clocked at 35mph. When I clocked Floyde at the BIG GUN RIDE he was a little tired and still clocked at 31.5. All said and done Floyde made himself.Shawn
Yes, Floyde is a 31 mph horse. He had been raced the night before, & just gotten in from a 3hr. trail ride.He was gpsed at 31.5. I know this to be a fact 'cause I was the one ridin' him. Shawn McGuire

Funny how so many people call this a "trot". This is far faster and smoother than any trot.
