@gregrutz The F-15s reputation just proceeds it especially with the israelis drawing first blood with the eagle. They preferred the gun over the missiles which in my book equals a highly skilled and dedicated pilot (their right up there with american pilots).
@gregrutz I highly agree with you greg. It seems that with missiles and UAVs anyone can become a pilot. Hell im 17 and i think that the F-15 is still a capable bird even though its older then me. Im not into the latest technology wins wars thing. For me its all about skill and determination. That is my primary reason on why i prefer the eagle over the F-22 and have the highest respect for israeli and american F-15 (and F-16) pilots.

@jedijaffy56 I agree with you, Im a marine veteran myself and what the Israelis do with they're F15s is amazing. Im not taking anything away from the raptor because its awesome aircraft but the eagle doesnt have the luxury of stealth technology.
@wereign9999 It helps to control the airflow to the engine. Airspeed, AOT, Alt all go into it. Their are more built into the top of the intakes that drop down to make the opening even smaller and to slow down the intake airspeed. Use to work on these bad boys back in the day.
@TheNayNayRemix So much better than the old starter carts they used on the F-111's! Those things caused one heck of a mess, a real pain to clean afterwards!

Too bad we are now in the age of mach 5 missiles and UAVs.

They don't really close; they change position to match the plane's angle of attack, to ensure a smooth airflow to the engines.
