I think its important to realise this issue isn't between good people and bad people. People for the bill want to protect kids from violence, and people against it want use smacking as a method of discipline because they believe it's in the child's best interest to be raised that way. No ones up there saying they want the right to beat the shit out their children. If this bill really helps lower abuse rates I'm all for it, but if it turns decent parents into criminals it ain't doing its job.
